Lesser Known True Crime Doc Recommendation Time

Hi there! So I feel like I've seen most of the popular netflix docs at this point, especially the more recent ones. There's a handful I keep seeing pop up on my homepage, but I also haven't seen really be recommended here, in all of the rec threads I read. So I wanted to post a list of ones that look interesting and see if anyone can vouch for them.

I like true crime, or true scandal, and anything that has a crazy storyline or a focus on forensics/ the investigation is a plus.

Feel free to recommend ones that arent on this list; unless they're popular and frequently recommended here because I have likely already seen them.

Suitcase Killer

Missing: The Lucie Blackman Case

Apple Cider Vinegar

The TikTok Killer

This is a Robbery

Audio & Daisy

Evil Influencer: Jodi Hildebrand (I’ve already heard a lot on this case so not necessarily interested unless the doc is just really good)

The Murder of Rachel Nickell

Dynasty: The Murdochs

The Carman Family Deaths

Til Murder Do Us Part

Web of Make Believe (I actually think I’v seen the first ep of this…can’t remember if I watched the rest)

A Deadly American Marriage

TIA!

Constipation Remedies

Hello!
So I have IBS-D but started taking prozac a couple months ago and now that my body has adjusted to it, I'm having experiences closer to constipation (trouble getting it out, smaller pieces, etc). I'm not used to having constipation issues but I know many of you are, so I was wondering if I could get any at home recs or probiotic recs that help. I do have miralax but I haven't had a day where I feel like its safe for me to use it just incase it wreaks havoc upon me.

Also, I am currently taking Librax 2x a day and benefiber 1x a day.

Gonna reach out to my doctor if this persists but wanted to ask here in the meantime. Thanks!

Urinary retention side effect

I checked and found a few posts referencing this but mostly it seems people tried to solve the issue by just stopping prozac which I don't want to do.

I'm on 20mg, just hit my two week mark on friday (I was on 10mg for about 3 weeks before) and within the past week and some change I noticed it was taking me longer to pee when I got on the toilet. I have issues with pee anxiety in public spaces so even though this was happening alone at home I assumed it must be prozac spiking my anxiety. However for the past 48 hours it seems to have gotten worse, I'll be sitting on the toilet for up to a few minutes and then when I finally go it doesn't feel like I got everything out, so I'm making multiple trips. I don't have any reason to believe this is a UTI. I googled it and apparently urinary retention issues are a rare side effect of prozac (lucky me).

Wondering if anyone else encountered this side effect, if it went away, how long it took, and if you have any advice on at home things to help it.

IBS-D ; Why does my doctor keep telling me to take laxatives?

I've been working with a GI doctor the past several months to help my IBS-D, with varying results. Things will calm down for a while and then come back again. Whenever i mention to her I'm having stomach cramps and diarrhea again she will tell me to start taking a laxative once a week. I've done this twice and all it resulted in was more diarrhea and feeling awful the next day. She says it's good to reset my system by clearing everything out, but that seems to be what my body is doing anyway when it's irritated.

Just wanted to see if there's anyone else with IBS-D who has been instructed to use laxatives, and how beneficial you feel like it has been?

When does it start working?

Hello there! So I started on 10mg about a month ago. I was being treated for ADHD but my anxiety was getting worse on the stimulants so my doctor decided to try Prozac. The first two weeks was actually amazing. I had very little side effects, my mood felt a lot better. I also have IBS and my constant stomach issues are hugely connected to the anxiety/depression I experience and for the first two weeks on 10mg I had no stomach issues and was even able to eat some foods I had previously been avoiding! I also noticed moments where I would just feel this really nice sense of peace and calm.

Then after two weeks I felt the effects wearing off and my doctor wanted to bring me up to 20mg. It’s been a week and a half and y’all it SUCKS. My stomach issues have been non stop. I have headaches. I’m SO tired (and yes I started taking it at night). I haven’t experienced any of that nice calm feeling that helped me focus and feel good. I’ve heard that it’s normal to have awful side effects when upping your dose, but I just want to know

When does it start getting better? What does it feel like when it’s finally working? And how do you know when you’ve reached the correct dose - what does that feel like?

TIA for any insight!

Prozac and Stomach Issues + IBS

Hey y'all. So I was put on prozac 10mg a bit over a month ago for anxiety. I also have IBS and was told it could help with that. After the first few days of my stomach not feeling so great, that went away and I've felt amazing. I even tried eating some foods that had previously caused me issues and felt just fine.

After a month of 10mg we just upped my dose to 20. I'm on day 6 of that. Yesterday I also got one of the worst stomach ache/diarrhea episodes I've had in months, and am still having issues today. (Now I know there's a parasite going around in the US but I am not yet jumping to that conclusion). But I am just wondering if anyone else, specifically with IBS, had flare up issues when starting or upping a dose, because I am wondering if that is causing it and maybe will calm down after my body adjusts? I was so happy to be stomach-ache free for a month so this is very disappointing.

Chappell at Rosalia Concert

I'm one of those people that have noticed Chappell Roans inconsistencies in her story as a "Lesbian" for a long time, but god forbid I try to tell anyone I think she's just using that as a marketing tactic. I'm bisexual myself and my pet peeves about women that disingenuously lie about being lesbians (when they are bi or otherwise) is that their lesbianism ALWAYS centers men in one way or another. And in Chappell's case, it feels like she wants to capitalize off of the idea of being a lesbian, and she also centers men in her lesbianism. So all that to say I was happy to find this group of people with similar complaints.

Seeing this video of her at Rosalia's show brought this up again for me.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJhW-bhfEYw (story starts around the 1:10 mark)

Here, Chappell is talking about the person she wrote the song "Casual" about. Iirc, Casual is one of her songs that was written about a man, (and she's said herself she had never dated a woman at the time of writing these songs) and then retroactively made to seem like its about a woman. So she's telling this story and GUSHING, and you can tell she really liked this person, and she is SPECIFICALLY using they/them pronouns. To me this is clearly part of her revisionist history, where she's trying as hard as she can to make it seem like she's talking about a woman without outright lying, but this is clearly a male ex that she really liked and got spurned by.

Wondering if anyone else has thoughts or just wants to collectively eye roll with me lmao.

Hand Painted Clothing Question!

Hi there! I’ve made a few hand painted designs on jackets and shirts, and I’m doing one right now where painted the color first, and then black line art on top. Just put it through the wash (after letting it dry, heat setting it, waiting 4 days, and washing it in cold water and putting it in the dryer which may have been a mistake). The black line art is smeared and almost completely washed off, so now I’ll have to repaint. My question is:

Will this process still stick and work if I’m layering acrylic on top of acrylic in stead of directly on the fabric? Is that why it washed off? Is there any extra trick for getting it to stick and stay on?

TIA!

Non-Violent Crime Doc Recs

Hello! I'm looking for some recommendations of good crime documentaries that don't involve murder; I know I've already seen a handful such as tinder swindler, unknown number, bad vegan (i love a good scam doc). Disaster/bad things happening docs like Trainwreck: Poop Cruise can qualify too. Anything that scratches that true crime itch but doesnt swing into homicide territory (I've just seen so many murder docs lately my brain needs a break). TIA!

Atlanta Top Surgery - Consultation cost?

Hey there - so I've seen in this sub that a lot of people in ATL have recommended Dr. Faulkner at Emory. I gave her office a call to ask about the price of a consultation and the receptionist told me they don't know and I would be told how much the consultation costs during my consultation which seems weird to me. I would have to pay out of pocket for this most likely, and I don't have a lot saved up at the moment.

Can anyone who has seen Dr Faulkner (or even if you've had a consultation in ATL) tell me what you paid for your consult or how that process works?

Thanks!

Stimulants just making me tired

So far I have only tried Ritalin (started at 5mg and went up to 10mg and only took it maybe like a dozen times before wanting to try something else), now I'm on Focalin, don't have the bottle in front of me but I'm pretty sure it's the lowest dose. I've taken it about three times now. Both of these have just made me feel tired/sleepy. The calming effect is nice - but I wanted help with my ADHD because the inability to focus on anything for very long made it hard to get anything done - and now feeling sleepy makes it hard to get anything done. I know people have said that a sign of ADHD is stimulants making you feel tired but I'm just wondering does it stop at some point? If I take it for a couple weeks will this change? Or am I just taking the wrong medication? What does it feel like when you're taking a stimulant and its actually working well for you?

Probiotic Recs?

Struggles with IBS-D. My doctor recommended I started taking a probiotic. I've heard these can work wonders for people if they find one that works.

I bought Culturelle probiotics, Health & Wellness, the yellow and blue box. It's been somewhere between and month and a half, close to two months that I've been taking it, and (even with the meds I've been given which have given me temporary relief before they stop working) my constant stomach aches keep coming back, so I'm thinking maybe I'll switch probiotics.

Anyway, I know every body is different, but what are some recommendations you guys use and have found effective? Would love to have a small list of which ones to try next until something works.

TIA!

Feeling hopeless as I lay here in pain

I have IBS-D. I’ve cut so many foods out of my diet, including meat (except fish), dairy, and gluten. I have stomach aches all the time. I get diarrhea frequently. I’m so tired of never knowing when eating something is going to make me sick.

I started seeing a GI doctor end of last year we did a stool sample test, came back normal. In March, I had a colonoscopy. Came back normal. My doctor started me on a probiotic, benefiber, and dicyclomine 3x a day for the first few weeks I felt amazing, my stomach felt normal and didn’t bother me at all. Then stomach aches started up again.

I had a follow up appointment with my doctor a few weeks ago. I switched from dicyclomine to Librax. Again, the first couple weeks I felt amazing with no stomach pain which allowed me to have more energy. Then after about two weeks I start getting small stomach aches again. I’m laying on the couch now, (after taking my librax and adding in a dicyclomine)between bathrooms breaks with insanely awful stomach pain and just feeling so defeated. I just want something to work, I want to feel normal and be able to function and not worry about every thing that I eat. The few weeks of relief I had when I first started on the medications was amazing. It made me realize how much my stomach issues impact my mood and my ability to do the things I enjoy on a daily basis. My doctor said if the meds didn’t work we would keep testing to find the issue but what other tests even are there?

I just want to know, had any one actually found long term relief? Is there anything that actually works? Do I need stronger medication?

Eating Meat

So I’ve struggled with IBS-D most of my life and about 10 years ago I stopped eating meat to see if it would help. It did for a while, and unfortunately the few times I’ve tried eating meat since quitting have resulted in awful stomach aches and diarrhea (except fish which for some reason I’m totally fine with).

I’m finally seeking treatment and going through all the testing with a GI doctor. I haven’t gotten around to asking her yet, but I miss eating chicken so bad. It’s been probably like 7 years since I have even tried it. What I’m wondering is, has anyone had any success with IBS treatment or meds that allowed them to start eating certain trigger foods again? Anyone specifically have an issue with meat and had success reintroducing it? I just want to know if there is hope for this to be a possibility.

Librax - Experience, Dosage, etc

Hi there!

After my colonoscopy came back normal in March, my doctor decided to put me on dicyclomine. I have really bad ibs-d and have also been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder so she thought this would be a good option. I was on it for about a month, and it was extremely helpful at first and then my stomach cramps started coming back. In my follow up visit, she prescribed me Librax (generic version, 5-2). I stopped taking the dicyclomine and switched over to Librax, 2x a day. It's been two weeks now.

I felt amazing the first week and a half. Despite it being an anti anxiety med I haven't felt any sedation/relaxation, I've just been in a really great mood and had a lot more energy and felt absolutely no pain or cramps or issues in my stomach - same with the dicy, I think that the constant stomach cramps and indigestion I get especially when moving around too much has taken a toll on my energy and mood, so to not have to worry about that feels amazing.

However, the past few days the stomach cramps are back. Haven't felt particularly great yesterday or today which has made it hard for me to want to get up and do stuff. I'm feeling a little defeated because both meds I've tried made me feel great but only for such a short period of time.

I am wondering if my dosage is too low on the librax but since i've heard its a highly addictive medication I'm worried about asking for my dosage to be upped so soon. But i also haven't felt any of the sedation or relaxtion effects I've heard others describe, that typically come with anti anxiety medication which also makes me wonder if its too low.

So I am just curious about others experience with Libax, I've seen a few people in here that take it as needed but is there anyone who has been taking it daily or found a similar med that they take daily that works? And for those on Librax, have you had to up your dosage over time to get better results?

TIA for any personal annecdotes!

Hi there. So, I've been wanting to get rid of my chest since forever. I started binding when I was a teenager. I didn't even know top surgery was an option for most of my life, and once I did, I just assumed i'd never be able to afford it. I'm in my late 30's now and it's still a constant thing on my mind, but I don't even know where to start.

For context if needed, I live in the state of Georgia. I have health insurance for the first time in my life but I don't think it covers trans related surgeries. But in general, I just really have no idea where to start. Should I seek out a trans friendly therapist and try to get documentation that I've had gender dysphoria for a long time? (If nothing else I can prove I have been binding on and off for the past 20 years). Do I talk to my primary doctor? Or would it be better to just seek out a consultation with a surgeon? Are there services or loopholes for those who's health insurance doesn't cover top surgery?

Any advice or personal experiences would be so helpful. TIA.
