What bands have fallen off heavily nowadays?

I have to say arcade fire. Released some outstanding stuff but their modern work is enough to make you stab your eardrums with a fork. One of the few bands I’ve seen fall off massively

What do we all think of “For Emma, Forever ago” ?

This album is in my top 10 albums of all time. This is just one of those albums that you can listen to when you want your bad day to feel a little worse, or listen to it when it’s dark and make the night feel like your own personal space. Ive yet to hear an album that physically crushes me like this album does. And knowing the context behind just adds that bitter and soul crushing atmosphere to the album. Their next two albums are also easy 10s but they won’t compare to their debut which is in my opinion their magnum opus.

What’s your guilty pleasure song?

I honestly love the idea of guilty pleasures in music because they can make you connect with different people who have the same guilty pleasures or even taste as you.

For me it’s “best day ever” from SpongeBob. This is one of the few songs you can actually play in the morning and make your morning feel good. There’s something about the lyrics and the atmosphere that give you this quick boost of dopamine and oxytocin that makes your day just a tad bit better.

Best day ever is a unique song and possibly the best SpongeBob song and I’ll stand by that.

I just listened to Yankee hotel foxtrot from Wilco and holy shit

This is an immediate 10/10 album for me. I’ve never had an opener immediately become a 10/10 song from the song but now “I’m trying to break your heart” breaks that chain.

Somehow this album is so warm yet so scary considering it was self released after 9/11 and it was meant to be released from their label on 9/11. This album is top 3 albums of the 21st century and I will die supporting that claim.

Hopefully I can hear an album as good as Yankee because my god I want more.

What is the best modest mouse album?

Ive had this question for a while because I’m a fairly new listener of modest mouse (about 6 months) and so far all I’ve listened to is the moon and Antarctica so that’s their best album for me.

I know how loved the lonesome crowded west and good news is to a lot of modest mouse fans but I want what you think is the definitive peak of modest mouse.

Also someone back me up with the fact that gravity rides everything is a top 10 modest mouse song

I want to expand my music taste

I want to set a goal where for the next 6 weeks I listen to as much albums as I can of any genre because I hate focusing on one specific genre to listen to for most of the time.

Anyone can suggest any album of any genre and l’ll give it a try. Doesn’t matter how mainstream or niche it is I just want an album to listen to

Thank you

Best animal collective lyric and why?

Most of the time my favourite lyrics from
The band aren’t because of the words but because of the way they say them or the music that follows with it

“If you keep on foolin’ in bed, with your sleeping patterns” from the second track of grass on, imo their best album, feels. The way avey says it and the fact it’s followed by the iconic chorus really makes it my top 3 favourite lyric

“If I could just leave my body for the night” from in the flowers on merriweather post pavilion is my absolute favourite lyric from them and the immediate shift in the song that follows is what makes it my favourite and I feel like it sort’ve accounts for their drug fuelled sound the song has

“And an obsession with the past is like a dead fly” from peacebone which is the intro to strawberry jam is my favourite animal collective chorus ever and especially this lyric shows it.

“All the Spanish bands use all the echo, Persian kitty better stay out of the train” from who could win a rabbit on sung tongs. I can never really explain why this is one of my favourites. It just is

I know this is a very common question people ask but I’m curious. If you were forced to stop listening to every artist / band in the world except 1, who would that be and why?

Just curious
