I’m very new to Lancer. Coming over from Battletech, and the amount of freedom in customization is a real head scratcher.
I whipped up a little walking tank based on illustrations from one of my favorite books. I was told this could pass for a Swallowtail.
My plan for the pilot was a pop star subject to conscription (celebrity background kinda like the surfer in Apocalypse Now), but then I learned about the pillars and how that doesn’t really work with them.
Last post for this force (until i inevitably make tiny transfer decals for the mechs and helis)
I got the idea for this battalion(?) when making a list for a discord server. I was looking through Davion training groups on Camospec and came across the 1st Kittery Training Battalion (gonna make a separate, mech centric force for them).
I always really liked the idea of military recon. They go out in a crazy dangerous place lightly armed so they can move quick, and their main mission isn’t even combat. Just sounds badass.
This whole force is 3D printed, and you can check my previous posts for the APCs and infantry.
Pt.3 of my Davion recon force. Next up is the ‘mechs and vtols to round it out. That’ll be the last post, so I’ll include a full force picture too.
pt2 of my davion recon force. i’ve also got some more footmen and apcs, but they look too similar to my last post to be worth the spotlight.
next up is mechanized field arty
The mech is a 3d print I didn’t make.
The pilot, however, is a 3d print I did make. It’s really fun and easy to sculpt people in 6mm. I want my next project to be Clan Ghost Bear’s football team.
Not paying $80 for a lance of LCT-1E and hate the PGI design. Closest I saw was a mid looking IIC variant on cults. If there’s literally nothing else, I’ll just print that one and cut the laser off the top.
I’d like to run a game where players start as mechwarrior trainees. For sections involving mechs, I’d like to use normal Battletech rules, probably with Total Warfare. Then, for on-foot activities, I’d like a system that can integrate with Battletech rules for flexibility.
Is there a generally accepted way to do this, or am I aiming too high? If it is possible, I’d like to know what rulebooks and supplements I’d need to run it as smoothly as possible.
On a cursory search, I’ve seen A Time of War recommended, but the posts were pretty old. If this is still the best way to go, hit me with what documents I’ll need.
This locust driver hops out to knock some Capellan heads manually. Bonus Kurita infantry at the end.
What does print comes out great, but most of the guys just end up as little splotches on the FEP. I’m thinking, since they’re so small, they might need more time per layer to ensure they stay on the plate when pulled?
Let me know!

(Third print ever) Trying to print some Tau fire warriors I bought off Cults 3D and most everything is failing to print. Here’s a rundown:
The models are pre supported. I tried to print 10 legs and 10 torsos. Last night, I ended up with 2 legs, and the rest failed. Today, I got 3 legs and 2 torsos.
I changed my resin settings from their default to what’s in slide 6 before today’s print. What was successful is really high quality.
Do we think this issue lies in the slicer or the printer itself? I’ve got it leveled and the resin is well shaken each time. I’ve also cleaned the failed bits out of the vat. All help is appreciated!
Done on an Anycubic Photon Mono X 6k
Front left is a bit droopy, and the rear right wheel came out as a flat disc that fell off when I took the supports away.
Still, all in all, I’m pretty happy with this as the first thing I’ve ever printed. I painted it to look like my brother’s truck.
Any tips on how to get a more successful print are much appreciated.
