Post partum l4l5 l5 s1 disc bulge with annular fissures plus so joint dysfunction

Going on 8 months since onset of symptoms. Had a 40 hour long labor with back spasms followed by no noticeable symptoms until activity resumed 8 weeks pp (was nearly on bedrest due to tear injury until then)
One day of moderate activity instigated a dull back spasm episode 11/10 pain writhing around on the floor screaming. Days of this. Then torodol shots and muscle relaxers and locked gaurding with stabbing pain with a lot of movements.

Cupping acupuncture PT since feb…

I would say the spasms are 85-90% better, the grading is 70% better but still very tight, and the general stabby pain shots are 80% better.

But I still cannot bend to use a sink, or lift or hold my baby (10 m old now) without triggering a flare up. I also cannot sit in a car for more than 30 min-45 min or walk for longer than 45 minutes without triggering a flare of gaurding that requires me to take muscle relaxers.

Base level pain is always there. So definitely a lot for progress but very slow, and the functional limitations (like not being able to lift or carry a baby or walk/sit long) remain exactly the same.
No shooting pain down legs ever with this… localized only. It also moves around a bit. Sometimes mid back and so joint dimple on one side. Then the other. Then all three. It changes sometimes even over the course of a few hours.

Looking for any thoughts on recovery time line or similar situations.

Hypnotherapy? Hypnosis?

Has anyone had any success?

I have severe si joint dysfunction from labor trauma and postpartum harmones. Going on 8 months now with a lot of improvement but still significant pretty constant pain regular flares and pretty extreme functional limitations. I can’t hold my baby pick her up put her down etc, it has made caring for her when alone impossible.

Curious about any alternative approaches people have had success with in general.

Cosleepers starting daycare 11 months

Looking for advice and encouragement / sharing experiences!

We are starting daycare soon with our daughter, I’m still looking into the most optimal schedule considering we don’t need to use the full day every day of the week.

Aside from that, I’m curious what those of you with cosleepers have done.

She only naps when rocked and carried and sung to. She has never fallen asleep independently and does not sleep in a crib or container ever.

I have no idea how nap time in that setting is going to work 😣

Is my 10 m old like yours?

Our 10 month old girl has always seemed to be lower sleep needs in general.

She is currently cruising and developing a lot… also had four teeth come through at once on top…

We co sleep at night, and during the day she is sung and walked to sleep by dad and put down in the bed to nap on her own. She has been flip flopping between two naps and three - and they are inconsistent… sometimes 35 min, sometimes 40, soemtimes an hour or an hour and a half…. The last few days she has done two 35 min naps and that’s it..,. Then earlier bed time…. It’s been chaotic!

The night routine is book bottle song and walk and then… she rolls around pulls to stand flops and babbles for somewhere between 30 min- one hour. Then between more bottle, more walking and singing, or more sensory input (patting rubbing) she will eventually drift off and sleep between 10-12 hrs minus her wake ups (1-2 to eat… sometimes one ore two early in the night that are just little wake to cuddles and pass right back out)

She has a very willful and alert temperament in general…. Again, once she is down she only wakes twice (sometimes once if we are lucky) to eat… (tho the last two nights she got up to eat and stayed up for almost an hour rolling babbling and pulling to stand)

We watch for sleep cues… we’re never feeling like we are pushing her to stay away OR forcing her to be tired… her wake windows tend to be 2-3 hr in the morning… followed by 3-4 hrs and then the last one being consistently 4.5+ hrs.

Just looking to hear if this sounds like anyone’s baby, if anything seems like it could be adjusted or tried to help her sleep more (if she even needs it?)

Grandparents babysitting overnight at our place - need setup advice.

We cosleep with our 10 month old. We have one king bed and one full bed put together (everything is jammed tight with pool noodles and towels so no gaps) and me my husband and my baby all sleep on there every night. The room itself is babyproofed except for a nightstand on my husbands side of the bed (that could easily be adjusted for one night…)

My question is…. She doesn’t put herself down yet. We lay with her while she crawls around crazy, pulls up on a little wall headboard, flops over, and generally rolls around babbling for 30 min +…. We have carpet all around and she can’t get HURT if she rolls off but it would certainly set bedtime back so we are also grabbing her if she seems like she’s about to plop over the side of the bed too…

My in laws are going to be putting her down while we go to a wedding in a few weeks… I don’t even know what to tel them to do. I don’t see them being able to lay with her in bed getting up and dragging her back into position like we do for an hour..,.. They could just put her in that room with the lights out and see what happens? I know whatever ideas we had we need to test run them starting NOW…

but basically I need any suggestions!

Hazel?Brown?

These are all between about 4/5 months and 9 months. The outside is very gray/blue/green and the inside is warmer brown.

Mom and dad have brown eyes but a ton of green and blue on both sides of the family

Post partum si dysfunction

Looking for people with experience here / to compare notes so I have a better understanding of my condition in the context of PP

Bullet point version as I have written this out so many times!

-no pain during pregnancy
-40 hr hour labor, 3 hrs pushing with severe back spasm on left side
- no pain but barely any movement for 8 weeks pp due to a tear injury
- started moving around again and a day into that went into severe back spasm (11/10 pain, screaming pain) and had been in and out of that level of flare up for WEEKS. Torodol shots. Flexeril muscle relaxers. PT. SLOW recovery for months. Could only open doors for myself about 4 months out… could never hold baby while standing without pain. And that pain would normally progress to spasms within minutes. Same with any lifting or placing. Basically could not do anything but have someone hand her to me sitting down.
- adding cupping at 5 months.
- weaned at 7 months.
-added pelvic floor PT 9 months, but they say my pelvic floor seems pretty okay (hypermobile but okay??)

- now 9 m post Partum. Lots of improvement but still constant pain tightness and stabbing /pinching pain with most exertion. Hard to get up. Hard to sit long. Can’t drive for more than an hr without at least mild flare up.
spasms gone for past month. Flexeril management stopped since then. Still cannot hold baby standing up without pain and flare up. Cannot lift her or put her down or do anything but be next to her on floor or have someone hand her to me sitting down.

- steroid injection failed. Diagnostic numbing seemed to be positive for a few hours but steroid had no effect overall.

I’m just looking for any info, advice, anecdotes, comparisons. ANY comments.

I’m going to see a new dr thursday. Curious about other PP women’s experience esp as I know it’s all so different depending on cause of dysfunctions

I am hypermobile also…

8 month old co sleeping- want to get longer stretches of sleep and transition to independent sleep as an option?

Our baby sleeps between us on a king size floor bed. The set up is safe and nice - I have a pretty severe back issue that prevents me from lifting her in and out of anything so this, along with a lot of unrelated emotional reasons is why we cosleep. I feel very opposed to sleep training her with any kind of cio- even Ferber ish things or allowing her to fuss for a few minutes is extremely difficult for me/ feels unnatural.

That being said, she wakes up 3 ish times a night, and with my back issues I also am having a hard time not being able to move freely in the bed. I don’t want to give up cosleeping forever, but we are also at the 8 month mark and when I hear about peoples babies waking up once a night… I envy it. All of this is also confusing because she was in a 7 time a night wake up pattern during her 6 month regression… then hit teething and crawling at the same time… so many variables.

Does anyone have any experience of transition co sleeping babies to a slightly more independent set up (crib in the room, floor bed in the room but not in bed with you??)

What are ur experiences? She also just started crawling so that’s a whole other thing… I can only imagine if she was on a bed near ours she would wake up, cry and crawl off it to come back to ours 🤣

The other part of this is… will she even sleep better??

Any thoughts would be helpful

Si joint dysfunction post partum

Hi everyone - I am dealing with severe lower back pain and spasm cycles for 7 months since labor -
I thought it was bulging discs but a doctor just diagnosed me as having si joint dysfunction - worse on the left side. It’s like my lower left back is in so much pain. And I’m constantly guarding and in spasm to compensate… then the flare ups it gets even worse.

I have been doing acupuncture PT massage….i am slowly getting better but I have constant flareups and it makes caring for my baby extremely difficult. (I cannot pick her up and stand or pick her up off the ground so I can only be alone with her for maybe two hours at a time and even that is very difficult)

He ordered a cortidteroid shot for that area and is recommending I continue targeted PT.

I also just made an appointment with a pelvic floor pt.

Does anyone have any experience with this issue? And /or experience with steroid injections?

I’m very depressed and feeling hopeless about this. It’s been so long that I have had constant paint and haven’t been able to do so much with my baby. Every time I’m in a dip I feel like I will never feel ok again. Then I feel a bit better or stronger sometimes for a few days and ultimately hit a flare up again.

Looking for any hope from people who have experienced this.
