As a nail tech, doing my own...

It always takes me 4 hours to do what I could do on a client in 2!! I didn't even do my right hand, it just has the purple base with cateye cuz I'm not doing intricate layered fine art/filligree with my non dominant hand haha. So let's say 5 if I did full design on both hands.

I've been debating trading or having someone else do them but they're too good and I hand out a card to every single checkout worker wherever I go. So I will spend my entire productive time every other Sunday hunched over my desk like a goblin.

My dragon's hoard.

Sometimes when the natural light is really good in my bedroom I like to just set it out and admire it. 🥰 Mostly Ethiopian opals, which are my favorite stone, my grandfather's graduation stone set in 18k gold, moissanite, a few lab sapphires(1 pink and 2 blue), a fancy cut natural sapphire with really cool inclusions that reminds me of iolite or rutilated quartz, I don't actually know what the pink stone in the pendant is, maybe ametrine, and 2 really really included rubies that I bought when I was 19 and thought I was making out like a bandit for such large rubies haha.

No such thing as enough. 😍

So I mayyyyy have gone a little overboard in the last month. Haha. It started with the small cabs to use for nail art and they just kept getting bigger and prettier! I'm truly a dragon at heart, I think. I get so much joy out of this sub and everyone's beautiful stones and jewelry.

The ring I miss the most

There are 2 pieces from my collection that I literally feel a pang in my chest when I think about. The ring was from an estate, 2 carat natural diamond, Australian opal in 18k gold. The second is a pendant with a huge trillion white opal cab, 2 smoked welo pear opals with a ton of red flash, amethyst and various lab grown diamonds. I sourced every stone myself and had my local jeweler make it for me.

Both of these were stolen. The ring from my work after I had taken it off to work on a client and I forgot to put it back on when I left. We had someone working for us who had a key whose sun was struggling with a heroin addiction. We had to take her key away because he used it twice to steal from us.

The pendant was stolen at a movie theater. The chain broke and I was wearing a big fur coat so I didn't feel it slide off. I noticed it when I got in my car, cuz I always played with it while I drove. Went straight back to the theater. I was the only person in that movie, ama in the span of 15-20 minutes, every worker said they didn't see it when they cleaned up.

What's your favorite piece that you don't have anymore?

Bought around 2014, lab opal?

Do you think these are lab grown? I always assumed they were, but when I was organizing my jewelry, a few of the stones were really giving me flashes that didn't feel like the perfect patterning of the lab opal I've seen.

The color flashes just hit my brain right. 😍

Oh lord I can't wait to use these.

I'm going to have made a matching necklace and brooch I think. I loved the choker idea but I think I'm going to do like an art deco filligree pendant for the pear opal, a flowing "S" shaped brooch with the round ones.

Since most of mine are Ethiopian, I need them in jewelry I will remember to remove to shower and such. Haha I already have one completely clear opal now because I kept leaving it on while washing dishes and my hands.

Help identifying

This came with my order as a freebie, which is so nice but I have no idea what it is. The face is sticky, if that helps.

It finally arrived!

I'm literally screaming in excitement! It's so beautiful. I'll cherish her forever. I need to quit buying opals and save to have a piece designed to hold them all. Maybe a really sick bracelet or a brooch. Opinions welcome on what kind of jewelry she would really shine in.

My second set, using opals on my nails!

Of course I had to put on some opal rings to show you guys my nails. Also, I didn't lose a single opal during removal from myself or any of my clients. I offered them their opals but they told me to just reuse them on anyone who wants them.

I think I'm going to save removed opals separately from my unused lots. Then, I can just charge my clients for applying them. I have been wrestling with if it's ethical to charge my clients for each stone after they come back to me.

Anywhooooo, I hope everyone is having a most splendid weekend!

A new reaction doll pic

I also have it sans phone and from a different angle with the phone. I always love when I see a new doll reaction, so when I saw this one on Hoarders I knew I had to snap a picture. Thank you for your consideration and have a lovely day.

Just found this in my jewelry drawer!

She's pretty! I don't know what kind she is but the other one is Andamooka I think. It's glittery and really consistent sparkle.

I'm obsessed with using real gemstones in nails

I'm a nail tech. I've been doing nails about 2 years, but I am constantly trying to stand out from the crowd professionally and i think this might be a way to really shine. These are real opals and Moissonite diamonds. I'm looking for a reputable seller that will sell me a batch wholesale for small but with intense fire play. My clients only end up paying $4 for an opal and $2 for each moissonite, but I would love to reduce that by 30-40% if possible. :)

Edit: these do not get thrown away. I carefully remove them by drilling the gel around them and nippering them from underneath. I haven't lost any opals yet. I have lost 2 or 3 .86mm moissonite. I appreciate everyone's love for the stones, and I'm respecting them as much as possible because I also love my stones. I just wanted to bring a way for my clients to also love their favorite stones.

I love opals so much I put them on my nails!

Some of my opal pieces. I can't wear the cocktail one because my jeweler said he's not gonna keep replacing the ones I break because I'm not careful with my hands. Lol the pinky ring closest to my nails is my grandmother's opal that was passed to my mother, who chipped it because she's not careful either, and then she had it set with the chip and a tanzanite, and now I wear it.

I can't ever fit it all in one selfie.

I was feeling the flow today. I hope every one of you is having an incredible weekend. ❤️ If not, here's a picture of my cat. Skittles the Skittish Kit, being cute. She also has a fierce flow.

Anyone ever roll onto their hair in bed?

Sometimes I'll go to get up and put my elbow on my hair and yank my own head lol

Or how about rolling up your car window on the highway and your hair is stuck in it? I've done it with a car door as well.

Anyway, I hope you're all having a tremendously terrific day.

She needs a cut, but I love when it's down to my waist.

You'd think working in a Salon/Spa meant I could get a haircut whenever I want.... you would be wrong lol
