Cadence

Cadence

I have been reading some of Eric Orton's training books like born to Run 2 and the Cool Impossible and he always recommends a high cadence. I have been trying to speed up my cadence lately by using a metronome and so far my comfortable cadence is around 158-162 with my heart rate being around 135-140 (zone2). It seems crazy to me to get up to 180 without it being a fast run. Anyways, from the sounds of this video it seems possible to work up to it once i get stronger. Anyone else here running at high cadence?

Born to Walk Book By Mark Sisson

Has anyone else read Born to walk by Mark Sisson and Brad Kearns? It caught my attention and i just finished it the other day. It has some good information in it and focuses more on longevity than breaking your next 10k record. It does align with a lot of information in the Born to Run book but obviously puts walking as a more important activity for overall health and wellness.

Fishing Rod Holder

Does anyone know where I can find a Fishing rod holder that will thread into the 1/4" camera mount on my sup? I am also located in Canada and would like to keep the price low. I see that Paddle North makes one but its $90 USD!

I think these Ora Sandals are too small :(

I got these on a discount website (can't return) in size 44 and my feet are 28.2cm long. They seem to fit ok but on my first walk the inside of my heel is digging into the heel cup. Will the heel cups flatten over time or should I just try to sell these and upsize? Was also thinking of just grinding the lip down to make it more flat.

Looking to buy the Tracker AT 2 sz 44 or 45 Can someone measure the insole for me?

I'm looking to get the insole length for the tracker AT 2 in the size 44 or 45. I think I am between sizes having a foot length of 28.5cm. What would be recommended? My Whitins have a footbed length of 30cm which seems like a good amount of room.

Should i get a pair of long distance shoes?

I have been running and wearing minimal shoes for about a year now. I can comfortably run\hike like 8-10km in my vivos with the insole in but have some foot soreness the next day. I have a trip planned to do about 3 days of hiking with a backpack might be 25-30kms total and am on the fence about getting a pair of Altra Superiors or something similar low stack for my trip and longer runs. Do you think it's a good call or should I just go for it and stick to the minimal shoes? And if so is this the best shoe for the money? I still have a pair of old Topo MT4 but they are too short now for my splayed foot.

Dirty Girl Gaiters with Vivo shoes

Anyone have luck running the dirty girl gaiter with a minimal trail runner? I have the Vivo Primus Trail FG and was thinking of trying the dirty girl gaiters and maybe sizing down 1 size as the lacing on the Vivos doesn't go as far down the foot as a standard running shoe.

Low budget Windbreaker

Anyone know of an inexpensive and light packable windbreaker I could get for trail running, hiking and mountain biking? I'm located in BC canada. Not really looking to spend much as it will mostly sit in my pack until a cold or windy descent or peak.

Radial Tires and cush core

Hey guys, I just put a radial tire on my front wheel and removed the cush core. My back is still a standard tire and i am on the fence about removing the cush core and just running the radial tubeless. So far I am feeling like I have way more grip with higher pressure on the front so I thought maybe I dont really need the cush core if I can run higher pressures with the radials. What are other people's thoughts? I'm only about 160lbs riding an E-bike and never had many issues with rims dings in the past.

Hey guys I am running a Vivid air select plus on my Specialized Levo. I ride pretty aggressive trails from flow to chunk in Interior BC. I weigh 165lbs. Currently running 210psi which gives me about 30-32% sag with 4 tokens ( i believe the max token are 6) and 3/4 on compression with HBO on 2/4.

I added a volume spacers a few weeks back but I am still feeling like the bottom out is quite harsh. I have tried 3-4 clicks on the HBO but then I notice that I'm not using full travel on the big hits and it still feels kinda harsh.

I am really liking the small bump compliance achieved with the tokens but the end stoke is just harsh. Where should I go from here? Run more tokens and less HBO? Or maybe try less Tokens with more pressure and max HBO? I can't figure out if its the HBO making the end harsh or the tokens at this point.
