Fantastic video on presentation by Matthew Wright for free

I’m about halfway through and man I can’t believe this is all for free. Masterclass on setting the stage, your patter, character, and so much more.

It’s free, no reason not to pick it up. I’m sure someone here will get value from it!

Chop Craig Petty Refill

Is it possible to get a refill of the gimmick if it stops working in its normal function? I’ve emailed Penguin, where I bought it, but seeing if anyone has had luck doing this?

Dani DaOrtiz Interview

Fantastic insight into his mindset and philosophy of magic and performance. I’ve been watching a lot of his videos lately and really enjoy his approach.

Some of my takeaways were:

Our job is to create memories for the spectator, which we can influence it in our favor.

Be a person, not just a magician. Personality will take you farther than just technique and lets you get away with a lot.

Structuring and routining. Illicit emotions from the audience in different ways.

Hope it helps you too!

What’s your preferred way to go through a magic book?

Read it front to back, picking out interesting sleights or tricks to come back and practice?

Skim through for ideas that interest you?

Some other method? I’m curious to hear your methods!

Chasing that SilkSong High

I’m not sure if it was the wait and anticipation of SilkSong, but playing it for the first time gave me a feeling that I haven’t been able to recreate.

The absolute wonder of exploring Pharloom and unlocking abilities/areas just stuck with me.

Even on replays, I’ll get hits of an almost nostalgic feeling with the sounds effects, especially in the beginning of the game.

I’ve been chasing that feeling ever since, and nothings quite hit it.

The closest has been Nine Sols and Blasphemous. Especially the sounds effects going from area to area in Blasphemous, I almost get that “nostalgic” feeling on a replay.

Am I crazy or has anyone else experienced this lol

Browned Butter Banana Bread. Called for hazelnuts but I don’t like nuts in my bakes lol

I think it’s my pan size but when the recipe calls for 50 minutes to cook, banana breads always take over an hour to be done in the middle.

Anyways this was delicious! Browned butter and espresso really deepened the flavor profile

My wife made carrot cake cupcakes! Knocked it out of the park

She made the cakes I did the frosting. Love a thick frosting layer lol

How do you scale up “binders” like eggs?

I have a recipe that makes just two cookies, perfect for my wife and I.

I’ll scale it up to make “big cookie” by doubling everything so we each get a giant cookie for our weekly date lol.

I’ve been using two egg yolks when I double it, but I notice that recipes that make 12 or so cookies use just two eggs, so am I wasting a yolk by using two in the smaller batch recipe?

Dry ingredients just double but what about eggs/butter? Do those scale the same?

Anyone else have a magic “backlog”

I got back into performing after a 12 year hiatus. Going through all my old stuff is nostalgic, but I also feel like I need to learn/ go through everything that I have currently before buying new effects or books lol

Anyone else ever been in a similar situation?

I have fat free Greek yogurt for banana bread - what can I do to “help” it for the bake

Just add oil for more fat?

Alternatively I have three overripe bananas I need to do something with - any other banana theme ideas I can make??

Need help again. Fridge drip pan overflowed once the water pressure worked again.

I shop vacced the water up, and want to make sure that this drip rate is normal? The fan is on but the water level is slowly rising. Is there a fix here I can do?

Installed a new filter (same model as one we replaced) and now the water does this. How do I fix it?

I’ve done the 5 second on and off thing for a while to purge air, but that hasn’t worked. The ice is super thin too.

The flow to the filter itself seems weak, which again happened after I replaced it. We didn’t have this issue before. It’s been like this for weeks

My wife was reluctant to watch, but now she’s making theories and we haven’t finished episode 2 yet

This is my 3rd rewatch with her (halfway through season 1 on second rewatch but started over with her)

She thought it was cool after episode 1, but last night we stopped ep 2 to go to bed and she was making theories about what happens to Powder since she’s on the cover art, and more about Jayce and Viktor.

Now she’s hooked 😈

S’mores bars for a 4th party tomorrow!

We’re leaving early and didn’t want to rush in the morning so made them tonight

As usual my 3 year old helped level off the flour and pour in/eat some sugar lol

Smashburgers - why season on the griddle and not preseason the mean?

I’ve seen several comments when people have asked about smash burgers, saying that they put the meat on the grill, smash, then add salt and pepper.

Why not season the beef ahead of time before making the balls? I’ve been doing that and it seems easier than having more items to manage while out on the griddle.

Am I missing something?
