Which game did you like better? Fable Anniversary or Witcher 3

I'm posting this because I'm very upset today after completing The Witcher 3. Spent 60 hours and got the worst ending possible. If someone spoke to me few days ago, I wouldn't have considered Fable to be worthy enough to be a competitor to Witcher 3 given the painstaking detailing that went into making the game (Witcher 3).

But, Fable never made me feel like a crap the way Witcher 3 did with it's ending.

Rant over.

When is it right to quit a job without another one lined up?

Good evening everyone.

I understand that the question title itself sounds very privileged given the state of job market in India. But I had to create one today due to the last straw.

To keep it short - I get singled out and repeatedly made to feel inadequate by this weird micromanager who seems to be insecure. Everything I do, even my working style gets scrutinized everyday (heck he even stands behind my desk to see how I am typing). I have rarely felt this humiliated in my life. Sometimes my coworkers too talk to me as I'm stupid (looking at the way I get treated).

Please keep in mind that in my previous organization I was told that replacing me would be quite difficult due to my stakeholder management skills and selfless work ethic. And now I have only regressed further in my skills and confidence levels.

I will not take major life decisions based on a redditor's advice, but I'd like to know where to draw the line here. Other than health issues, what would be scenario where you must quit your job without another one lined up? Because enough is enough.

Popular games that you didnt find fun

For me its Witcher 3.

I had purchased this game hearing such strong reviews that it is one of the greatest games ever made in the history of gaming, consistently featuring in top 5 or top 3 games of youtubers whom I admire for their gaming tastes.

Turns out that the game felt more like an animated Netflix show than a video game. Look, the graphics are cool, the gameplay which receives most complaints is not too bad and the map design is interesting, but its way too slow and has too much dialogue.

Subjectively speaking, when I play a game, I like a story thats not too complicated with fun gameplay and superb atmosphere, something like the original Resident Evil 4. Games for me should be a good way to let off steam, The Witcher 3 felt like an animated novel to me and I thought that I would rather read a book having such a deep story than play a game. I for most of the time skip dialogue with space bar and rush through the main quest (which is not how this game is meant to be played I guess).

Again, thats just me. You may share here some of the popular games that you didn't find fun. You can also mention the Witcher 3 too, and reasons you didn't find it fun.

P.S. Yennefer is the hottest chick in gaming history. Her personality is as attractive as her looks. A perfect 10.

Is travelling to Japan really worth it, irrespective of the rising costs?

I have been a fan of Dragon Ball Z and Pokémon since childhood. I am a gaming geek too and love Capcom games such as Resident Evil.

I am not exactly a Japanophile, but find Japanese stuff cool.

But given the depreciating rupee courtesy Iran war and reduction in FDIs, also the recent news of Japan making its visa application fee 5 fold, is it really worth going to Japan irrespective of how expensive things get? Or are there other places too whether in Asia or Europe which match the Japan quality at affordable prices?

Anyone who's recent traveled to Japan, please do advice!

Jedi Knight series is legit underrated

I have bought all the popular Star Wars games recently - KOTOR 1 and 2, Battlefront 2 (2005), Jedi Outcast. Previously, my gaming experience with Star Wars was limited to Shadow Of the Empire (cool fun with jetpack) and Phantom Menace. Besides, gaming was perceived as an unusual hobby in India back in the 2000s, hence game CDs were expensive due to low demand.

Kotor 1 lived to the expectations of having the greatest story ever, I even found the D&D combat cool since that allowed me to strategise my attacks.

Battlefront 2 (2005) was a massive disappointment (hot take). The gameplay and atmosphere are nice, but its way too fast and has underwhelming light saber combat. It's fun for those who enjoy competitive gaming I guess.

Jedi Outcast was the trump card. I didn't expect this game to be this fun, the level designs were superb, gameplay reminded me so much of old quake games, and the lightsaber combat...AWESOME. It is the perfect Star Wars game for me!!!

Should I purchase Jedi Academy if I liked Outcast? Also, I'm yet to play Kotor 2, so my perception might change on fav Star Wars game!

Popular Star Wars game that you did not like?

For me it's Battlefront 2 classic.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great game objectively speaking. The atmosphere, gameplay and graphics were all top notch, but game is so fast paced that it doesn't allow you to immerse yourself into the atmosphere unlike KOTOR or Jedi Outcast. It felt like Quake 3 version of a Star Wars game.

Are there any popular games that come to your mind which you didn't enjoy much?

How many here defeated Malak by switching to easy mode?

I didn't buy those crystals from Suvam at Yavin or that sacred belt which protects me from electrical force powers. It was impossible to defeat Malak in normal mode since none of my force powers were working on him. So I had to switch to easy mode and completed the game after a great challenge.

Something in me tells me that I chickened out, not sure if this an example of an impostor syndrome

Earlier, I had started a thread here being skeptical if I will enjoy the game or not, since I am not big into rpgs and never tried D&D combat before.

However, now after arriving at Manaan with Yavin and Korriban to go, I can tell you that this game has given me a kind of satisfaction which no computer game has given me before, strangely not even Half Life 2 or Fallout: New Vegas. It's a feeling which is hard to put in words.

Having said that, it will be great if you can share with us the games here that you enjoyed as much as you did while playing Kotor, it can be any other Star Wars game or an rpg or a AAA title. Please go ahead and share!!

Thanks!

Lets take a random example here - Someone in mid 30s wants to make a move from say logistics to a tech oriented field like cybersecurity (and is fine with an entry level job too)

Is the above possible here given how rough the job market is? Have you personally ever come across such instances where people made similar transition?

Your advice will be helpful, asking for a friend 😉
