That campfire with the kids was amazing.

Dude, that upload made me smile and laugh, and it was probably the most heart warming terror I've ever felt. Thank you for doing that, I hope you'll do more just like it. That was inspiring and healing.

This episode was dedicated to a girl named Liana (who is also a guest in this episode) who was just diagnosed with cancer. She and her family are huge supporters of the strange dark and mysterious. Here's her go fund me:

I just looked up LeBron's rankings as a Laker

Take a look.

Some notable stats:

Per game -- Lebron ranks 4th all time in the regular season for assists. 3rd all time in the playoffs. Points? 5th and 6th.

He's scored the 10th most points all time in Lakers history in the regular season. 17th in rebounds. 5th in assists! 7th in defensive rebounds. 2nd in 3-pointers made.

He has scored the 6th most 40+ point games in Lakers history, and the 5th most 50+ point games.

If the only thing he ever did in the NBA was play for the Lakers in the years that he did, at the age that he did, he had a complete, HOF career as a Laker and would/will be remembered amongst the best Lakers of all time.

He was 33 years old in his very first game as a Laker.

The color scheme of the rebrand is so beautful

I wanted them to go back to the OG logo, but the more I look at this logo with this color scheme the more it's growing on me. I'm looking forward to seeing the new uniforms on the court.

Is PREY (2017) the best game of all time?

What makes a game fun?

Game play? Vibe? Story? Lore?

It depends on the person, right? Some people prefer story games. Some people prefer strategy games. Some people prefer first person shooter games. The list goes on and on.

PREY is not just a "game". It's several kinds of games smashed into an immersive sim. That is a feat in and of itself, but it's done in a gorgeous, fleshed out world. A world I didn't want to leave. A world I want to go back to. I want to go back to that world even more than I want to play the game -- somehow I think that makes sense.

It's MY favorite game of all time. I know that's subjective. But it meets all of my criteria and then some.

PREY is on sale for $7.99 -- buy it, play it, love it

I just wanted people to know that this absolute gem of a game is on sale and that it's worth it at full price.

EDIT: It's actually $5.99 -- but for another $2 you get the Mooncrash DLC.

You might feel overwhelmed at first. You might need a long break. You might need so much time to decompress that you forget you own it -- and then you'll come back to it -- and then you'll fall in love with it. I don't know why, but that's a familiar path for so many of us.

At $8. Just... know how much people love it. And help the world create more games like this for people to love.

About the callbacks in Alien Romulus.

It seems to me that there's a social phenomenon that kind of takes over large swaths of people's minds before they're conscious of it. Group think? Something like it? I don't know.

Before I go on, if you simply didn't like the movie, or you didn't think it was great, that's totally valid. This post isn't about subjectivity.

The main reason I see from people who don't like this movie is the callbacks. They say it breaks immersion and that it's lazy. Among other things. On one hand, I get it. But on the other hand, I think it's tragic. Because I can think of another franchise, with a sequel, in which there are a lot of very intentional callbacks, and this particular movie is so beloved that the very people who would die on the hill shitting on Alien Romulus probably love Terminator 2.

Immediately after reading that, they're probably doubling down, but they know they have to too many mental gymnastics to make it worth their time, so they'll probably say something ignorant instead.

Remember, this isn't about whether you like it. It's about one specific reason why you don't like it.

Now what?

YESSSSSS vs. EHHHHH this season, let's see your list.

YESSSSSS:

  • Ayo, Melo, Ant = Fast Break FIRE
  • Melo with the lob to our 7 footer
  • More ball movement, less iso

EHHHHH:

  • Undersized
  • We lost Unc
  • Chemistry isn't certain yet

How many points will Ant average this season?

I personally think he already scores enough, and would like to see him become more focused and disciplined. But it's hard to ignore the trend:

19.3

21.3

24.6

25.9

27.6

28.8

With a playmaking point guard on the team I don't think Ant will have to try very hard to average 29, maybe even 30 for the season.

What move are you hoping/expecting the Wolves to make before the season? Or during?

On paper, the Wolves look pretty good in certain places, but I feel like they lack size and strength. No Randle. No Naz. Gobert, sure, but he's getting old.

We need muscle. We need strength.

Who can the Wolves realistically go after?

How are we feeling about next season?

We lost some momentum in the playoffs, and we've had another big shake up to the roster. It's crazy that Naz and KAT are both gone. Ant was a shadow of himself due to knee injuries. Dante is gonna be out a long time. Uncle Mike is gone. Randle is gone. Who is this team now?

I feel like there's no way to know yet what kind of chemistry they'll have. I'm sure more moves are going to be necessary to complete this team. I just hope they gel, start hot, stay healthy, and add complimentary pieces that put them back in the conversation.

In short, I feel a little flat. Nothing would surprise me. This team could be in the finals or it could be a lottery team next year. Lots of variables in the air.

Sustaining immersion in audio dramas?

I have a difficult time sticking with audio dramas, mainly because of things like voice acting and pace. I enjoy a story that breathes and feels organic, so when rapid dialog is stacked with nothing in between it feels like a challenge to keep up, let alone remaining immersed.

I understand that creators hear all of the dialog hundreds of times and have it all memorized, so their pallet for consuming the story can be distorted.

It's also not lost in me that everyone is different. Some people thrive on a rapid pace and don't want any empty space or tension between words or events.

Something that is awesome about Audio dramas is that there's something for everyone.

What are some immersion breaking mistakes or techniques that you've identified for yourself?

Which kind of listener are you?

Where do we go these days to find out if/when the band is working on a new album?

Do they still update their website with album news? Do they announce stuff on Facebook? I usually just find out from you guys here on reddit.
