UK drivers, i have a question.

I was going to put this in the carsUK sub but that sub feels too car-specific for this.

What do you think when you see a "baby on board" sign or some variation? I'm in a disagreement with my mum over whether they make people more or less considerate/patient etc. I have a baby and wanted to get a sign but my mum reckons a BoB sign has the same effect on other road users as green P plates.

Edit - thanks for all of the different perspectives, i think i will save my pennies and do without!

Going on the waiting list for an allotment somewhere in Reading - just have a few questions

So i'm very excited, think I've finally won my mum over into us getting on the waiting list for an allotment. But how big are the plots around Reading? Are they a standard size or varied by site? Do they have electricity access? (probably not, i realise - this was my mum's question as she'd be making cups of tea there if so, lol)

Using paint predator outdoors

Hi, I've just painted a panel of a wooden playpen with some paint predator, but now I'm thinking i should have done it indoors in this hot sun in case it dries out before it starts to work. Have i cocked up or does it not make much of a difference if it's applied in direct sun? It's already crinkling up in some places after 10 minutes.

The paint is gloss and there are I'd say two coats on there. I've looked online for my specific question but found only stock product details.

Possibly dropped my wallet in town

Extremely long shot, but last tuesday afternoon i left the museum/town hall after buying something from the museum shop and walked back towards the car park over the river. I can't find my wallet anywhere at home and I'm worried and gutted about it, i have adhd and struggle to keep track of things anyway. It has my driving license, debit card and union membership card as well as my Radar key. It's a black leather thing which folds out into three sections and has a zippered coin pocket. It's got "BAG" embossed on the side of it. If anyone sees it, or has seen it and handed it in somewhere, I'd be grateful to know.

Recommendations for reliable landscapers

I live in Reading. I've been trying to get my garden done since the beginning of the year and so far all that's happened is a shed base has been poured and some slabs have been lifted.

Is there anyone you can recommend for a small garden roughly 6x7 metres? It needs levelling, a raised bed and some new slabs down. The design is finalised.

Alternatively is there anyone you do NOT recommend?

Seeking potential siblings born around 1972 in the Dover area

Hey, i hope this post is permitted - also hope it doesn't blow up in my face 😬 if anyone has advice on finding relatives please share it!

When my dad was 15-16 and living in Dover he took part in an archaeological dig where roadworks had revealed some Roman structures. I think the work began in 1970 but I'm not sure at what point my dad joined up. He would have been 70 this year so the times roughly line up.

I know that i have two twin half-sisters from when he was older (before i was born), and a younger half-brother from much later on. Not sure where these siblings are located, but apparently i definitely also have some half-siblings originating from his time working on this dig in Dover.

I suppose I'm just looking to see if anyone knew a boy called Nigel in the early seventies. My maternal family is small and not very close, so I'd like to see if i can track down some siblings on my dad's side.

Rolling over and sleep

Hey everyone, my time has apparently come to ask the question of how to manage my 4-month-old rolling over all the time, both before and during sleep. She does have very good head and neck control and is deliberately rolling onto her front as of this week. At what point is it generally okay to leave them sleeping when they're half-on or fully-on their front? I have a feeling that it's too early just yet and that i should continue returning her to her back when i see her sleeping on her front or side.

Asking on behalf of my mum's ex

He is almost 80 and has had sudden deafness in his right ear along with his right eye becoming misaligned, and he has been having headaches. I don't know where these headaches are located as he is several hours' drive away and has been telling mum these things over the phone.

What size o-rings do i need for this?

I used a vernier to measure the widest point which came out at 1.6mm, but that'll be inside my ear when I'm wearing it. When i bought the earring it didn't come with any o-rings and it just works its way out if i wear it alone.

What size o-rings am i likely to need? 1.5? Thanks in advance.

New sling day

This came in the post earlier today and I've finally had ten minutes to try it on - legs are a bit wonky and it might be a bit loose up top, but my daughter is obsessed with leaning back and looking around atm. She's almost 4 months old. Much easier to deal with than the ring sling i borrowed recently 🥲

Wearing a baby who thinks she's an owl

Anyone else have a baby who refuses to look at them when being held or worn? My daughter is almost 4 months and has NEVER faced me when i hold her, turning her head as far round as she can and twisting her upper body with it. This is making using a carrier quite difficult as the sling is either loose enough that she can turn, which isn't safe, or is tight enough to be safe but makes her cry because she can't do her owl impersonation and look at things behind her own head. Is this a common thing for babies, and when does it become manageable 🫠 i need to be able to wear her because she cries very often if left to herself on her floor blanket or in the cot.

Is there *anyone*, *any* repair service willing to change an ipod nano battery? 😕

I've been asking around various businesses and either had no response or been told no. I would attempt it myself but don't have a heat gun or a soldering iron, which i think are needed. I can't really afford to buy those things and also don't have space to store them. Can anyone recommend a business or person who would be willing or able?

Bowel movements still awful at 12 weeks (before rotavirus part 2)

Another rotavirus post, I'm sorry. But I'm starting to wonder whether the vaccine is actually to blame.

My daughter hasn't had a normal soft type 4 poo since a week after the first rv vaccine. They used to present like a snake of extruded mustard (sorry) but now they sometimes consist of separate semi-solids and a clear liquid, or they look like pesto (again, sorry to my fellow pesto enjoyers), but mostly it's as if she's passing tiny clumps of white in a very runny yellow mix, almost like cheese curds. She is almost guaranteed to have a violent liquid poo just a few mouthfuls into a bottle of cow and gate and is having multiple bowel movements day and night. I'm fighting to stop her bottom from getting sore but it's almost constantly red. I feel like she's also crabbier than she used to be.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm going to book a gp appointment for her in the morning but in the meantime some other perspectives would be appreciated.

Fit check - Little Frog ring sling

I had an appointment with someone today to help get me started with slings, and I've come away with this model to practice with. How does it look?

I've looked online to no avail, but what is this side pocket for? A packet of wipes or box of tissues perhaps? I've seen another bag with a zip in place of the opening.
