Homeless dudes on Roosevelt Ave & Broadway, hitting car for money

Just general awareness - two homeless guys shown here, accosting some poor guy in his car while stuck in traffic.

Guy in front of the car kept him from driving off, other guy demanded money from him. No idea why the driver lowered his window though.

After getting some cash, they made themselves scarce. Be on the lookout while driving through the area I guess.

It objectively sucks to be homeless and abandoned. It also sucks (less chronically so, but still) to have your property thrashed and be held in place to give a stranger some money.

Some "artist" covering an emergency hotline number for visibility

Over the Queensboro bridge in NYC.

Luckily it peeled off relatively easily, into the trash it went.

Nobody stays for a full game anymore?

Picking this up after well over a decade, really wanna enjoy it on the PS5, but hot damn on Team Deathmatch and Domination especially...you can barely finish a single game without people bailing.

The instant someone starts to lose, they're gone. Most of my games end with like 2-3 people on the other team, tops - or on mine.

I feel ripped off, spending $20-$30 on this game for Nostalgia's sake. What am I missing? Are there game modes where this isn't an issue, that I should stick to?

Cheers.

[SPOILERS THE DEVILS] Callbacks in The Devils to The First Law trilogy

Hey all,

Massive fan of The First Law trilogy and of Joe Abercrombie (favorite book series, easily). I've enjoyed the stand-alone books in that same universe, but was less impressed by the 2nd trilogy.

Saw the good reviews for The Devils and picked up a copy - fun read! Not quite as brilliant as his best work but an engaging ride and some neat new characters to follow along with, excited for the next one to come out in 2027.

Anyhow hopefully I'm not totally alone in this, and/or not just repeating something others have already talked about ad nauseam, but I felt like there were a decent amount of similarities or callbacks between The Devils and characters/events/phrases from The First Law. Below are a few that come to mind:

  • Wigga's POV as a Werewolf is a lot like Logen's, when he's taken over by his Bloody Nine persona. They lose control completely, view anything and everyone as prety/meat to be butchered - and have at best a tiny, nagging voice telling them not to kill their friends.
  • Baptiste's immediately introduced as a character with a frightening amount of Knives on person
  • Jacob of Thorn is at least somewhat like Logen, at least in terms of being a beat-up, scarred veteran of a thousand battles who's been fighting longer than he can remember, and who's underestimated by enemies as being slow and old - but who also mostly just wants to stop being as violent as he once was, and pursue some level of redemption (the similarities mostly end there though)
  • The huge Tower in Troy is at least somewhat similar to the House of the Maker in Adua - two stupendously huge edifices in the center of large cities, built by inhuman architects and lasting ages beyond anything else
  • The fight between magicians in the Library is at least somewhat like the final battle between Bayaz and Tolomei in the House of the Maker - complete with eerie darkness, surrounded by arcane knowledge and glyphs written into the floor, etc.
  • You could argue that the Church is somewhat similar to the Inquisition, plenty of comparisons there

Probably more, but I'd love to hear from other people here as well. Anything I'm missing?

No choice but PVP in trios, at this point?

I've avoided PvP intentionally for about 2 weeks, as have my friends.

Loaded up into a couple games today with them for some fun together, looking to fight the Matriarch and score some loot.

First game we ran around Dam Battlegrounds in the swamp, saw about 5-6 flares go up from downed raiders, and hauled ass.

2nd game on Blue Gate, we didn't get 50 feet from our spawn before being shot at by randos. Made it out purely because a Rocketeer heard the commotion and took pity on us, blasted those guys pretty good.

I DO NOT have an issue with PvP, but obviously with a Matriarch or Queen your focus is on the Arc and the hope is for teamwork with others.

Is that basically dead and done, for Trios, no matter how much you avoid shooting back at people? Confirmed PvP mode, kinda like Stella is just the PvP map usually?

Curious to hear people's experiences.

Oozaru questions

  1. By the current point of DBS, if Goku regrew his tail, would he be able to control his Oozaru transformation?

  2. Goku loses his marbles as an Oozaru presumably because he "hit his head really hard as a baby" etc...so why is Gohan's also (mostly) nuts in that state? Did he inherit getting smacked in the skull really hard, genetically?

  3. If Vegeta regrew his tail, and went Oozaru, would he be able to go Super Saiyan? Or use Ultra Ego?

  4. Can Goten, Trunks and/or Pan go Oozaru?

  5. Speaking of which, did Pan use to have a tail, at any point?

  6. If Vegeta and another Saiyan with self-controlled Oozaru transformations tried it, could they fuse with the fusion dance? Could Gotenks go Oozaru SS3, and grow an even bigger brow ridge?

  7. Would a Kamehameha from an Oozaru be particularly bigger / more powerful than one from a regular-sized Z Fighter?

  8. Can Broly go Oozaru? Would his father have ever let him?

  9. Whenever Vegeta turns Oozaru, is Bulms still the Gorilla his dreams?

Typical luck on Stella (Proof I'm a Pop Magnet)

I knew I was attracting these little f*ckers like flies to a porch light, somehow.

Thanks, Embark.

I smacked a Firefly, and the game banished me to the Phantom Zone.

Hate these things with a passion, so naturally I tried to bash one to death with my bare hands.

I was quickly punished for my crime by being sent tumbling through the Netherworld, helpless, for the next 5 to 10 minutes.

Just when I thought it would never end and that I'd never be released by the void, it spat me back out.

I've been warned. By whom, and from where? Unknown. But the message was clear.

Don't smack the fireflies.

No such thing as PVE/Carebear lobbies for Duos anymore?

Disclaimer: Yeah, it's Stella. We've cruised around friendly Stella lobbies before, hence the surprise.

Asking as I like doing trials with friends, and generally horsing around.

In the past we've been able to access the Carebear lobbies easily, especially for duos - just by not shooting anyone for a dozen games. Have not really shot anyone in like 1-2 weeks.

And yet recently every single duo game in Stella ends in almost instant bloodshed. The second we load in, boom. No amount of "don't shoot, we're just doing Trials!" matters.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy PVP (and I sure as hell would love to shoot back at the bozos who keep murdering us, despite us clearly not wanting to fight and get our ABMM ruined). But clearly not while I'm doing trials and stuff.

Anyone else dealing with the same issue? Have the devs just cut down on Duo Carebear lobbies, especially Stella, in the latest update?

Edit: cool, people immediately downvoting this because iTs StELla mOnTiS or whatever. Yeah I know, I'll be there shooting people to bits /getting happily blown up in like 2 days, all I was saying was there USED to be a way to cruise around Stella in ultra-friendly lobbies until like 1-2 weeks ago.

I both enjoy and hate this season; holy smokes is Ellie cuckoo for cocoa puffs.

Hiya there. New to the sub. Been watching a few seasons of Below Deck across multiple versions - the "OG", Mediterranean, and Down Under to name a few.

Across all seasons there have been lots of great captains, plenty of awesome and/or awful and/or goofy crew, and even a few intensely creepy moments where people had to get removed forcibly from the show (but luckily those were few and far between). I've been following this season so far, and will almost definitely finish watching this one too once the remaining episodes come out...but after the latest one, I feel like I need a break from this.

This season in particular feels hard to watch at times, honestly. More so than most others. I practically have to skip parts to avoid second-hand cringe and frustration.

On the plus side: Captain Jason's predictably awesome, Daisy's great as HOD, Ben's the usual lovable maniac/resident bad boy (but he has standards and class), and Joao's (usually) reliable and well-intentioned. Some of the rest are OK, if flawed - Eddy's alright (if too hung up on women), and Jenna's a bit of a sh*t disturber but fundamentally an OK crew member; Alesia's kinda like Jenna but more cheerful (usually), maybe a hair less competent (RIP her professional chef career, wild ride though).

The downside is where I'm struggling: such as Mike, the botoxed gossip drama queen as physically incapable of not spreading rumors as he is of actually doing his job (how can you tell Mike's stirring up crap to make people miserable? His mouth is open). Thank goodness he's gone now, was afraid for a sec they'd give him another shot but credit to Jason and Daisy for having none of it; guy was intentionally crummy to basically everyone there, it's just part of his nature. He physically can't help being (gleefully) awful.

...but with all that, I'd still gladly spend a whole year with that guy as my roommate in a tiny cabin over being stuck on a boat with *Ellie* for half an hour.

That lady is certifiable. Her explosion at Ben for using pet names in 1-2 evenings like he'd been cussing her out for multiple seasons; her caricature of scorned, jealous ex energy after being told "let's be friends" by the guy she randomly selected as her target; but above all the sheer lies and BS she's now spreading at this point of the show, to try and drive a wedge between other crew members.

It's genuinely messed up in the head and it's hard to watch her gleefully succeed at creating opposing factions within the Yacht, just because she's still sour and pouty about a guy wanting nothing to do with her psycho, weird energy. Quietly rooting for her to go too far and get herself kicked off the boat as well, but that'd likely be too good to be true. I just want my regular, fun show back - some crazy guests, some flirtation and a bit of the ol' drama among crew members, but fundamentally everyone being on the same side and just getting the job done at the end of the day.

And I feel like that's just not gonna happen as long as the manicured maniac is still around.

I assume this is nothing anyone else hasn't already said, but curious how others feel - maybe I'm overthinking it?

tl;dr this freak show gotta go.
