Fenix 9 to launch in ~3 weeks

Source: an insider. I have nothing more, but if you're considering getting the 8 or waiting for the 9, it's coming shortly.

Does anyone here own a Bathyscaphe Quantième Complet Phases de Lune?

I'm curious to see some real pictures and get your experience with the watch. I'm most interested in the green one on cloth strap. Thanks

My Tonda PF GMT Verzasca

Lovely watch. It's very comfortable on a ~17cm wrist. The guilloche reflects the light beautifully, but it rarely looks green to me.

I think it's not very versatile but I got it only few months ago so my experience is limited to summer context only - and these vibes are great. I'm yet to test it with more formal or evening attire.

A true watch collection demands more sophistication than most possess.

A collection is curated. It has an idea, a theme, or a point of view.
Reducing collecting to simply buying what you like is a pauperization of the art of collecting.
Edit : between myself and my wife and me we own PF Tonda Gmt verzasca, Zenith Defy Skyline in blue, my wife's JLC Duetto in all gold and two vintage Omegas. I don't call it a collection.
I'm Polish and live in Switzerland so have an idea to get a Patek and Czapek to unify the OG duo I can connect with as polish migrant making it in Switzerland - but I still wouldn't call it a collection.

There is absolutely nothing to discuss in watches and watchmaking

Watches are a hobby to enjoy in solitude, because what's there to talk about?
All of the specs are a given, have nothing to do with performance and are really not comparable - like you can make argument 48hrs of power reserve is not enough - not enough for what?
Let's be honest, we can read blogs and articles or listen to podcasts or whatever but 99% of us have absolutely no idea about the technical intricacies.
And it's always relative - you'll always find a person with a watch next to which your Big Boy watch looks like a cheap toy.
Or how much is a watch worth - whatever you're willing to pay if you like it enough.
Not to even mention the looks - purely subjective - what I like you'd never even look at and vice versa.
And then the online discussions, the only reason watch collecting is even a thing - everyone says what they think, never a conclusion or change of mind.
Get the watch you like, show off to whatever people you have on your life but be the silent type and keep it to yourself .

Best option for second car in the household (EV/hybrid/combustion)

We're considering getting a second car, mainly for my wife to commute - she works in sales and visits clients in different locations primarily around Zurich, a bit Basel and maybe sometimes Geneve. Plus running local errands, groceries etc. We have a big combustion suv as family car so now looking at something small, will most likely lease it. The question is about the drive - EV / hybrid / combustion - what did you chose and why, considering economy (price and running costs), reliability, parking etc.
BTW we live in a small village 20km south west of Zurich if that's relevant.
Thanks!

Will emerald green return on new GLE?

I own the GLE 53 2023 in emerald green and I just love how the color comes alive in the sun light, pictures don't even give it justice.
Will it, or a similar color - maybe 816, come back on the new GLE at some point?

Why Uber is so bad in Switzerland?

I don't use it much because SBB is the best, but when I do, the experience is so much worse than the in other countries.
Drivers don't bother to get out and put your suitcase in the trunk.
They won't take the route I'm asking for because it's longer (but faster) - I'm paying for it after all.
They get super fussy if I'm in the pick up sports waiting for for them.
And for some reason I can't rate the driver.
Is there a particular reason for all this? Perhaps there's a better alternative I'm not aware of?

Tonda PF ratrrapante opinions and future dial colors

Hi there

I'm close to decision to get Tonda PF ratrrapante Verzasca as my GMT watch. I like it's subtle and understated and the complication is innovative and unique.

Before I pull the trigger though, I'd like to get a perspective of people who own the Ratrrapante and perhaps also those who know Parmigiani well - what's your experience with the watch, what do you think about the brand?

Also any idea what other dial colors might come in the next few years? Verzasca is nice but in person in daylight it falls into grey. I'd prefer a deeper green, like forest or emerald green. Do you think it may come?

Capital gains tax if gains exceeds 50% of annual salary

AI tells me if my capital gains during calendar year exceed 50% of my salary, tax authorities might consider me professional investor and impose capital gains tax.
Currently I'm looking at such gains - not realized yet.

AI tells me it's not binary and the authorities will look at the totality of my situation - how I trade, where my gains come from etc.
My gains come from few high conviction bets on several particular companies - 2-3x or even 10x on a couple on relatively high cost basis (relative to my income). Some I held for multiple years, some at least one year, never shorter.
These bets come from discussions with my uni friends - I think it might be considered an investment club. We also share the cost of paid subscriptios to industry experts who provide analysis and suggestions.
I'm employed full time. My salary package is quite high and I have good career ahead of me so it's clearly my main source of income.
My trading is super irregular. Embarrassing to admit, but one of the big winning bets was made by mistake (purchase instead of sale - perhaps could be proven based on WhatsApp message history with my friends). I don't even have the paid subscription for live market price on my IBKR.
But I might exceed the 50% mark two, maybe even three years in a row since I reinvest the gains.

Has anyone any experience with this rule? Do they look into details or just slap the tax if the 50% is exceeded? Is it better to engage them proactively or reactively? Should I get professional tax advisor?
Last but not least - does this rule apply equally to rentiers?

Thanks in advance
