Are passport cards sent seperately from passports?

I renewed my passport recently and also ordered a passport card. My passport arrived in about two weeks (yay!) but no card. Are they usually sent separately? P.s. no living president image on it, phew!

Longterm Spravato and Medi-Cal (maybe Medicaid too?)

My Spravato appt was cancelled this week because of a new Medi-Cal rule on certain meds that says they needed a new prior authorization (PA) immediately as of Aug 3 to continue. My clinic said a lot of PAs were being denied, but when they submitted mine it was approved within a few minutes(!) I think this is because I have had a lot of improvement over the past 16 months as shown in my PHQ-9 scores. Just wanted to share my experience and give folks a heads up.

Polls not posting in group chats

I have been trying to post polls on group chats this week and they show up to me, and I can respond to them, but noone else can see them. Any suggestions for how to fix this?

I checked my app updates and it was last updated 7/16/26 so that does not seem like the problem.

Thanks!

My quinces are already ripe!

I'm in central coastal California where we had winter heat waves and it appears my quince are already ripe, and it's only Late July. Anyone else experiencing this? They smell delicious!

Sunday, July 19: ICE OUT march in Gilroy

As you probably know, the Dept of Homeland Security has been secretly planning an ICE holding facility just outside of Gilroy, less than a half hour from Monterey County. This will lead to a major expansion of ICE kidnappings in our region, with terrible effects on our community and economy. Next Sunday there will be a protest march to the site organized by Gilroy and Silicon Valley immigrant organizations. Please share and attend if you can.

World Cup watch party Tuesday, 6/30?

Does anyone know if the Salinas soccer complex is hosting another World Cup watch party on Tuesday, when Mexico plays? I checked their website and it didn't say, and I sent a message yesterday but haven't heard back. Thanks!

Best source of bulk compost

Looking at options nearish Monterey. I know Keith Day Landscaping at ReGen has compost for $35 a cubic yard, which is great but delivery adds another $100+. Just wondering if there are any other options - I'm filling some raised beds. Thanks!

Illegally fired/won settlement for lost wages/does that count as income for unemployment?

The day I (foolishly) told my boss I likely had a serious illness she terminated me. Horrible horrible experience and I sued for medical discrimination and got a good settlement two years later. Was on SDI for 1.5 years, first for the disease then for severe depression, but now would like to go on UI and wondering if the settlement income or disability income can count towards my UI. Hard to imagine I would ever get someone on the phone to discuss this...

I just bought some castor oil to deter gophers but I noticed it barely smells - is that normal? It was marketed for skin I think. Thoughts on whether the gophers still won't like it? Thanks! (Gopher image from the movie Caddyshack.)
