Engagement Ring Band Width?

Engagement Ring Band Width?

We finally chose a diamond! Now I’m debating between a 2mm vs 2.5mm (or 2.2mm?!) band for the engagement ring.

The diamond is 2.69ct with measurements of 10.14 x 7.22 x 4.75 mm. My ring size is 5.5.

What band width would you recommend for the engagement ring? Would 2.2mm look different from 2mm?

Secrets Tides Punta Cana - Is it worth it?

My partner and I are planning our very first trip to Punta Cana and are leaning toward Secrets Tides Punta Cana, specifically for a Junior Suite Swim-Out. Since it is a newer property, we would love to get some honest feedback from anyone who stayed there recently.
How are the swim-up suites and terrace setups? Do they feel relatively private, or are you right in the middle of everything? How is the overall food quality and restaurant wait times? Also, how are the beach and ocean conditions right in front of the resort?

We are not looking for a party resort. We want a chill, relaxed vibe with good food, low-key evening entertainment, and access to a nice, swim-friendly beach.

Is Secrets Tides worth it for this kind of trip, or would you recommend a different adults-only resort in a similar price range?

Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts!

Where are we getting our hair cut in the city under $150?

After 5+ years in SF, I’m still struggling to find a go-to stylist. Salon prices lately are wild ($180–$250+ standard?!), and I really want to stay under $150 before tip.

I have thick-medium density, slightly wavy/straight, chest-length. I want soft face-framing layers and seamless curtain bangs that actually blend and grow out nicely.

Who are you trusting with your hair? Please share your favorite independent stylists, junior/associate stylists at top salons, or neighborhood gems!

Thanks in advance!

TL;DR Looking for salon/stylist recommendations under $150 before tip

Edit: Ahhh thank you everyone!! We love ladies who don’t gatekeep🩷

First CAD review — cushion setting, petal basket

Just got the first CAD back from my jeweler and would love some outside eyes before I send revisions.

Stone: 2.69ct elongated cushion, 10.14 × 7.22mm, 1.40 L/W
Setting: 14k yellow gold, cathedral mini split shank, petal basket with four corner prongs, 2mm band

Three things I want to sanity-check:
1. Petal size. The main petals on each corner in the CAD read pretty small and flat to me, and I’d like to ask for them to be larger. Is there a point where bigger petals start to look clunky at this carat weight? And does making them taller risk swallowing the stone from a side view?
2. The gap at the base of the basket. There’s an opening at the very bottom where the petals meet. Is the peg necessary? It looks a little unfinished to me, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen other rings with that.
3. Is it possible to make the split shank even smaller, so it’s barely noticeable from the top? I don’t mind a small gap between my wedding ring and engagement ring.

Also open to any general “you’ll regret this later” feedback. My jeweler has been clear that the prongs stand straight up in CAD and get shaped by hand afterward, so I’m trying not to over-read the render, but I also don’t want to wave through something I’ll notice forever.

Please share your 4 prong floral basket setting!

I’m in the middle of designing a custom ring and I keep going back and forth on the basket, so I’d love to see real photos instead of just jeweler renders.

The stone is a 2.69ct elongated cushion, 1.40 L/W. Setting is 14k yellow gold all the way through, 2mm band with a small split shank.

Almost every example I find online is 6 prongs, but I want 4, with the prongs at the corners.

If you have a 4-prong floral or petal basket, especially on an elongated cut, I’d love to see it. Profile shots especially.

Thank you!

Does this read more as an oval cushion or a rectangular cushion?

Looking for opinions on the overall shape. Does this diamond read more like an oval-leaning cushion or a rectangular cushion?

The stone is lab grown with measurements of 10.14 x 7.22 x 4.75 mm.

Modern OMC Lab Diamond- Feedback?

Is there anything in the cert or photos that stands out as a red flag? Any advice or things I should watch out for would be so appreciated.
