A 15-year-old satellite dish can be repurposed as a reflector/concentrator of Microwave/Rf Transmission. In principle, a suitable source placed at/near the focal point could be reflected into a directional beam, though ordinary satellite dishes aren't designed for visible light. What do they use the most? Invisible light.

Could they have turned thousands of abandoned satellite dishes on houses into some sort of distributed energy infrastructure?
