Me reading the whole online discourse around Supergirl:

I guess I felt like spreading the positivity I feel about the movie in a post rather than only through comments!

As much as I enjoy the Abrams tanks, I can't deny SEPv3's implementation is highly disappointing. Like, yay, congrats to the United States for finally achieving Leopard 2A5 levels of protection 23 years later through a 7.3 ton heavier tank, apparently...?

In this image, I compare; current SEPv3, how I would have implemented it, Leopard 2A5 and Leopard 2A7V's current iteration; just to show how even a relatively well protected SEPv3 would be far from game-breaking considering it would still not even be 2A7 or 122-level.

So, uh... why, again?

Before anyone suggests that 9mm is better because "being thinner it eats spall and does not generate it"; 9mm generates as much spall as 25mm. Only <6mm LOS thicknesses behave like that.

All reports about this were "passed as suggestions" or denied as "duplicates of already known issues", yet... here we are.

Since they refused to give SEPv3's hull armor any functional improvement, it would be nice if at least the fuel tank areas had even the slightliest chance to stop anything at all.

As important as it is to offer constructive criticism when it's warranted, I believe it's just as important to acknowledge the positives. Today, the stock APFSDS rounds for Top Tier MBTs were replaced with more capable alternatives, making the stock grinds/spading SIGNIFICANTLY less frustrating.

Also, the drawing is shit and clearly inspired by Gaijin's Women's Day decal, which I always found really cute, but I made it in 30 minutes and at least it's not AI xD

The shell is suppossed to be an M829A2, the new stock APFSDS option for the Rank VIII Abrams tanks.

u/SpanishAvenger — 9 days ago

I give up.

They did not even apply the lowballed 1990s "+35% KE" value to M1A2 SEPv3's hull.

430mm KE. Can't even protect against stock shells.

Back in 2021, Gaijin claimed that they would "calculate values based on publicly available data, such as likely threats and requirements" when it came to PRESENT DAY CLASSIFIED VEHICLES. Let's see if they are willing to follow through with the UNDENIABLE information and calculations of this report.

EDIT: THEY IMMEDIATELY REJECTED THE REPORT CLAIMING THAT “NOT ENOUGH INFO”. THIS CAN NOT BE ALLOWED TO STAND!

GAIJIN IS LYING. Back in 2021, they acknowledged that you cannot reasonably expect people to provide official, set-in-stone values for PRESENT DAY SERVICE CLASSIFIED VEHICLES. They claimed that they would "calculate values based on publicly available data, such as likely threats and requirements"...

Yet they are now rejecting just about ANYTHING short of an official value which, on the other hand, can not legally be provided.

[Positivity] Despite the (hopefully reversible) SEPv3 hull armor catastrophe, this is a REALLY exciting update for Top Tier MBT enthusiasts, specially after the 2.5 year Top MBT drought we've gone through!

Not only are we getting 6x great 12.7 MBTs; we are also getting improved modelling (Abrams hull and neck, AT LAST; Challenger 2 mantlet, it appears...), new historical shell choices (M829A3 for all SEPs, increasing lethality against Kontakt-5 tanks), internal and module reworks and remasters...

After 2+ years of Top Tier jet focus, it's SO refreshing to finally have some nice MBTs to look forward to.

I just wish they fixed a few more things, like Type 10's steering or the Challenger tanks' missing hull spall liners- but hey, we are on the right path!

Last week, I made a post which got downvote-swarmed and filled with people calling me out for "being wrong", because I stated that, if SEPv3 was to come to the game, Gaijin would probably not give it its improved hull armor based on their previous statements on the Abrams tanks. Well, well, well...

Oxy also stated in the Dev Stream that SEPv3 had "slightly improved turret armor" and nothing else.

It appears I was right after all.

The only hope we have so far is that bvvd allegedly stated it has improved hull armor on the Russian stream, but as I don't speak Russian, I wouldn't be able to check myself.

We also got good news from the Russian stream; ABRAMS HULL AND TURRET RING VOLUMETRIC REWORK, at long last!

EDIT: aaaand now the Dev Blog confirms that it's not coming with improved hull armor, for now.

If you ever look forward to M1A2 SEPv3 believing it may finally bring a hull armor upgrade compared to the 10.7, 1979 baseline M1 variant... maybe you should calibrate your enthusiasm. :')

I have been looking forward to it until I remembered this and realised SEPv3 will probably be just yet another Same Exact Protection, so basically the same tank we've been getting since 2019, but heavier and slower for apparently no reason in particular.

It will also probably retain the fake 50mm thick giraffe center of mass, too.

Largo Caballero, el 21 de Febrero de 1936, cinco meses antes del estallido de la Guerra Civil: "Habrá Soviet en España en cuanto caiga Azaña. Antes de cinco años, España será soviética."

Otro par de citas de Largo Caballero dignas de ser recordadas;

I think it's a good time to remember that Homelander is actually an EXTREMELY tragic character. He wasn't born a demon; he was artificially turned into one by having lived an existence of inhuman torture from the moment he was born to the day he debuted as a hero as an adult.

Even after a whole life of hell, he STILL tried to do his best and be a good, non-lethal, de-escalating, true hero... only for circumstances, his past and those surrounding him to deliver the last blows to any chances he could have had of being an actual hero and good person.

He isn't some one-dimensional evil-born "demon"; he's a product and victim of extreme injustice.

While this doesn't redeem or justify his actions in any way, it certainly made me feel a bit sad about >!his demise and fate. When he's begging for his life, he basically rolls back to the defenceless boy who was being tortured on a daily basis.!<

Since I keep seeing complaints about APHE (specially 35mm) nuking the entire existence of tanks regardless of caliber or shot placement, I’ll just remind that we WERE given the chance to have it fixed… but it was turned down out of fear for change; and now, the window of opportunity is gone forever.

I am not even going to argue or debate about whether it would have been a good thing or not; I’m just reminding that, whatever the case was, that ship has sailed.

I'm kinda new to the game, just been playing for 20ish days, hence why I would rather ask and make sure I'm not missing anything before drawing any conclusions, hahah.

EDIT: confirmed to be a bug… oh, come on! How can such a bug, which is basically a permanent nerf, even be a thing, let alone for as long as it has been?

▲ 310 r/StarWars

In T-70's case, the entire ship is significantly smaller, sleeker, lighter, has 2x engines with a bigger total thrust output than T-65's 4x engines, enhanced and modular firepower, retractable automated blaster cannon on the underside of the fuselage, reinforced shields, upgraded avionics, and new astromech socket.

This is a QUITE significant collection of upgrades over the rebel T-68B for the extremely short timespan between these variants, specially considering that technology in Star Wars has apparently not advanced all that much in thousands of years.

It makes no sense to suggest that, in less that 30 years, suddenly all starfighters in service should look drastically different than their predecessors for no particular reason other than "b-but it would be cooler!".

And before anyone says that "fantasy needs no realism"; it's not about realism, it's about making general sense for the sake of suspension of disbelief.
