Combat Endeavors?

My group has completed two sessions with a total of three combat encounters. They mentioned that these encounters tend to take a while to fully resolve, leading people to lose interest until it's their turn. I understand this because we moved away from 5e to other systems partly because combat took so long, and this feels similar to the length of 5e combat.

One of my players suggested trying a combat endeavor for some smaller encounters or side quests.

It might work like a best-of-3 endeavor: if you fail by a certain margin, that many people reach 0 hit points and gain an injury.

They don't want to eliminate combat entirely for larger story moments, but our available playtime is limited. I was curious whether anyone has similar ideas or if this approach could be feasible for preventing the game from slowing down.

Did I allow the first ideal to soon? [Stonewalkers]

This evening, for our second session of the Stonewalkers campaign, my crew made it to chapter 2 and explored around the Kholin camp, checking out the events.

We made it to the Chasm Offensive event. The warrior was taking a beating as a good tank and almost got him to take an injury. He asked to do the first ideal. After some thought I allowed it and he used that empowerment to finish of an enemy.

But now I an debating if it was the right time to do so so early into shapter 2.

How Do You Play Pieces

My party is going to the war camps in Stonewalkers chapter 2. For the gambling section how do you explain the game to them? I know it's actually a conversation to run down focus but how do you actually explain how the game works to the players?

Little Game Masters

Does anyone have experience with playing Little Game Masters? If so what were you thoughts on it?
I picked it up at Gencon this year to hopefully help teach my four-year-old about RPGs and stories.

Session 1 Prep Advice [Stonewalkers]

Last week we had our session zero and it went pretty well. Got the characters set up and briefly explained the overview of the world using the Welcome to Roshar book.

My crew is still fleshing out back stories this week and we will have session 1 on the 17th.

I have read through chapter 4 of the Stonewalkers adventure but started to reread chapter 1 to begin prep to run it. What are some GM tips for session prep for the Cosmere RPG and Stonewalkers?

Generally, for other RPGs, I like to read first time through and make highlights in the (PDF) then go back through and draft a rough outline of how I think the flow of events turns out.

Stonewalkers Session 0

I will be holding a session zero for Stonewalkers this evening. What advice would you give to kick this off for players who are not familiar with Stormlight or the Cosmere?

How to Get Rid of

My wife and I are having a problem with a constant number of springtails getting into our kitchen and around the back door and kitchen table. They are all over the outside walls of our house. My wife runs a small cookie side business, and we don’t want them getting on the cookies. We’ve tried a dehumidifier to keep the area dry, and an exterminator told us to use strong essential oils on surfaces to repel them. Nothing seems to work. We are open to any suggestions. They are driving us crazy.

To the full lobby of “Chill Dudes” tonight on Cryo. My team was struggling to get batteries for Vault 2, but you all came together and asked everyone to run the Compiler. It was the most fun I had in the game, having the full lobby come together naturally to attempt it. We may not have exfiled from running out of time, but we did manage to get the kill in. I don't think I will get that kind of camaraderie in a lobby again. Thanks for the good time Runners.

I'm a casual gamer dad around level 55. I mainly run Triage. I might get about 1-2 hours to play each night. My question is, what should a casual like me focus on before the wipe, and what should I prioritize more for the next season?
