Cheap door sensors?

Hi.

Can someone recommend some cheap door sensors that work well? I was cleaning my closet and found a cheap Tuya door sensor. It's wifi and it works, but it doesn't seem to have a lot of "range". Like I taped the inert part of the sensor to a door and set the active part on the floor inside. I left like 0.5" - 0.75" of space to account for the sensor when the door closes and apparently that's too much. It kept saying "ON". That too is weird; ON is the status when the sensor is open and "off" when it is closed. Seems backwards to me.

I moved it closer and now it practically touches each other and it works. I have Samsung sensors I bought years ago, they have more range wiggle room. I like that. So I Googled Samsung door sensors and 3 are like $120!! That's nuts. The Tuyas are under $6 each. It's irritating to have to align them so closely and I don't know yet if they support IFTTT but to save $34 per sensor I'll deal with it lol.

But before I buy a bunch I wanted to see if anyone had recommendations? Ideally something that can be IFTTT triggered but even if they just pop a notification on my phone that'd be fine.

Thanks!

BF1942:DC helo controls in BF2?

Hi.

I just was cleaning my closet and found a CD binder and BF2 was in there. I forgot I even bought this, lol. I've been playing BF1942 with the Desert Combat mod for like twenty years. I love the helicopters in DC so first thing I did after installing and patching up BF2 was go hunt for a heli. I tried three maps and only found a Blackhawk. Whatever, I'll try the bus lol.

UGH. I really miss the DC flight controls. I like how letting go of W in DC you drop like a rock, made nap of the earth flying very intuitive. I am a very comfortable DC pilot, I like whipping it around the battlefield and zooming under bridges and capturing flags with it, no sweat.

But the controls in BF2 feel weird to me. Is there any way to mod the game so they act like DC?

Thanks!

Switch at 65% off - it's making me nuts

When I open Video Editor, I get this:

https://preview.redd.it/qow478zlphah1.png?width=802&format=png&auto=webp&s=823277cc956b0eef42a2afefb605b5a51d4e86b1

Every. Single. Time.

It's driving me nuts. Is there some way I can stop that? The current version I use meets my needs, I don't have any particular reason to upgrade so this is really annoying. I'm sure at some point in the future a newer version may offer a feature that I find worth upgrading for, but if this can't be disabled I don't want to spend any more money on Movavi products.

Please tell me there is a way to stop it from pestering me.

Any recommendations on decent IP cameras with at least 25x optical zoom?

Hi.

I have an old Sony SNC-RZ30N camera. I love its 25x optical zoom, it's great. Problem is, the camera is ancient and uses a Java applet web server and it doesn't want to run on anything.

So I'm looking into modern PTZ IP cameras. Something that can be wholly intranet, I don't want one that uses any cloud crap. I saw a bunch of cameras on Amazon in the $500 range. I was dubious about a 25x optical $500 camera and sure enough, a lot of the reviews if you switch away from the astroturfing 4/5 stars to 1 star you can see real people complaining about them.

So does anyone know of a good one that fits the bill? Preferably $2000 or less, I'm not rich lol.

Thanks!

Adjusting dimensions without seeing input boxes?

Hi. I'm trying to get a box aligned with another item. I used the L tool to get the other side perfectly to match now I need to reduce the size to match the size of the other item. I set to the finest 0.1mm adjust and drug but it still has a lip. So I figured I'd click the width input box and type values until it looks good but it's so irritating that if I have the view at a perfect angle to see what I'm doing, I cannot see the input boxes for the dimensions. I have to look down. But if I look down, select, then look up it loses focus.

How do you do this? I want my view at a particular position but still have the ability to manually enter millimeter values for precise setting.

LuckPerms breaks Cobblemon for me?

Hi.

A friend asked me to set him up a Minecraft server where he and his kids can play Minecraft / Pokemon. I haven't played with MC in quite some time but I setup Pixelmon as I knew that is the Pokemon MC mod but now I see Cobblemon. I like it better since it makes the Pokemon Minecraft style.

From my Spigot server admin days I knew I needed a perms manager so we can tightly control what the kids do and I was pleased to see LuckPerms has a NeoForge mod so I can stick with what I (vaguely) remember.

However, whilst it works fine in my Pixelmon instance when I copied that instance to make a Cobblemon server I removed Pixelmon, deleted the world, inserted Cobblemon, fired up and whenever I join I get "Invalid player data". I noticed the stack trace was mentioning luckperms so I renamed the jar to j and restarted and now it's fine.

Am I using the wrong version or something? Luckperms file is "LuckPerms-NeoForge-5.4.140". Server startup mod list is:

Cobblemon 1.7.3+1.21.1 (cobblemon)
Flan 1.21.1-1.12.7-neoforge (flan)
Kotlin For Forge 5.11.0 (kotlinforforge)
Lingua Bibliotheca 1.21.1-1.0.6 (lingua_bib)
Minecraft 1.21.1 (minecraft)
NeoEssentials 1.0.2 (neoessentials)
NeoForge 21.1.200 (neoforge)
PacketFixer 3.3.1 (packetfixer)
WorldEdit 7.3.8+6939-7d32b45 (worldedit)

Stack trace from when I join:

Weird SMB issue when trying to access files remotely

Hello!

I have an annoying problem I'm hoping someone can help with. I have a folder on my main rig "Solenth" that is connected as a drive. I got so used to, at work, having an enteprise P: drive where all the docs and utils and stuff were that I wanted to replicate that mental "muscle memory" at home. So I made a folder to hold important stuff like that and made a netlogon script to map P: to \\solenth\p$. This is the relevant info:

Really freaking weird. It shows a dir, but hangs on the summary and never recovers. GPT suggested something:

(Lioth cmd prompt)>dir /b \\10.0.10.100\p$

Interesting, initially that worked. It shown the folders and returned to the prompt. But I did it just now to copy the output and it hangs without doing anything. (sigh) I bounced the lanmanserver service on Solenth, no change. Rebooted Solenth, no change. If I do

(Lioth cmd prompt)>dir \\solenth\maewyn

I get my friend's kid's files fine. No hangs at all. Same with dir of the ut2004 folder or C, D or E admin shares. All work fine. Dir \\solenth\d$\dropbox\pdrive works fine. So I deleted the P$ share and recreated and reconfigured NTFS/share perms. Same problem. Deleted the P$ again and created P. Same problem. W-T-F?? Why can I access that folder fine via D$ admin share but as soon as I try to map it to P it fails? Grasping straws I also shared it as "shithead" lol but that does the same behavior as dir IP\p$ - shows the folders, then seizes when it comes to the space summary.

I ran a chkdsk on D: but it's perfectly fine. I also checked the event viewer, there are no relevant entries.

Any ideas what the world is going on here? I'm at my wits end. For now I just made local copies of the script repo on the machine but that's not ideal.

Thanks!

Weird Windows SMB issue

(Solenth cmd prompt)>net share

Share name Resource Remark
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ADMIN$ C:\WINDOWS Remote Admin
C$ C:\ Default share
D$ D:\ Default share
E$ E:\ Default share
IPC$ Remote IPC
p$ D:\Dropbox\PDrive
maewyn d:\temp\maewyn
ut2004 D:\games\UT2004_Install
The command completed successfully.

Everything is honky-dory. So I RDP to a web server "Lioth" I'm setting up. I kept getting 500 error; timeout from PHP. I thought it was a FastCGI issue but I tracked it down to it hanging when it tries to load my root libraries from my common script repo on the P drive. I found that if I do this:

OK, well, they look fine. So I figure try to cut DNS out of the loop:

[The Boys] Theory about the Deep's mental state

* This involves discussion of the last episode of The Boys, so do not click the link to the comments or unhide the spoilers if you haven't finished the show yet and intend to *

I was in a discussion with someone about an interesting theory regarding The Deep's mental state. It's buried in a thread so I doubt it's been viewed much to elicit comments either way so I wanted to create a post to see if I'm just crazy.

Hmm I had screen shot the discussion but apparently images are not allowed so to sum it up >!the person to which I was talking feels that the "whole fish are angry with Deep" was a metaphor. The fish weren't really hostile and his own powers are what killed him. Similar to Noir's imaginary cartoon friends, it was all in his head.!<

Interesting theory, but I did not get the impression that was what the writers were going for. Given their propensity for teenage butt joke level humor, lol, I just assumed they were being literal and not that complex with the writing.

>!So was the whole angry sea life thing meant to be a deep (har har) psychological metaphor as MutuallyEclipsed posits or were the ocean denizens actually pissed and homicidal towards Deep?!<

Hi.

I recently found that I'm blocked from posting in groups. I tried and it said

"Open Facebook on your mobile device to confirm your identity

Certain actions have been restricted due to unusual activity."

Ok, fine. So I open Facebook on my phone and try to perform the same activity. I get a thing saying it wants to verify identity. So I choose driver's license, line it up and take the pic. Perfectly clear and fills the selection window and is entirely visible. I hit submit it thinks about it for a solid minute, then dumps me back at the beginning where it is asking what I want to verify with.

Tried several times. Grabbed my old Note 9 and opened Facebook and went to try and now it's like "you tried too many times, no". God this is infuriating.

Does anyone know if there is any way to get a hold of someone? I did report a bug, but God only knows if A. someone really gets that and B. if they will get back to me. I don't even care if I have to pay to talk to their support, being cut off from groups is screwing me.

Thanks!

Hi.

I was thinking of buying a Stream Deck Studio to put in my server rack. I am not a pro AV guy or anything, I just think it's cool lol. I have a Stream Deck + and I really like it, so when I saw a 1U rack mount version it made me want to get it.

But someone on Facebook intimated that there are expensive subscription fees one must pay to use it. Is that correct, or can I just plug it via USB into a PC and drive it with your software just like my SD+?

Thanks!

I like that I can hover over a video and it plays, but I really wish it would play silently. Sometimes it is silent, sometimes it plays the music. I want it to be silent all the time. Any way to force that?
