People r getting married

How are people finding partners that will actually marry you and not just waste your time?.  My  Instagram feed is filled with love and wedding reels. 😭😭😭The thing is I don’t want a relationship/situationship/ talking stage etc and a lot of people nowadays want to do a long talking stage before marriage. Everyone sucks. I don't know how people find love at such an early age.

Need Help

Body:

So I'm in a really stressful situation and honestly don't know what to do next. Looking for anyone who has experience with international health insurance disputes, insurance fraud accusations, or dealing with corporate audit teams.

Background:

I have international health insurance through my employer. Over the past year I submitted medical claims for genuine doctor consultations and pharmacy purchases. The claims were reviewed, approved, and reimbursed at the time of submission — no issues flagged.

What happened:

A few months later, I received an email from their Financial Investigation Unit saying they conducted a routine audit and identified "irregularities" in 200+ invoices I submitted. They accused me of fabricating bills and submitting them under false pretences. They are demanding repayment of around $4,500 USD and threatening legal action if I don't comply by a deadline.

Their main evidence? They say they contacted my healthcare providers directly, who allegedly confirmed that the bills were never issued by them and were fabricated.

Here's where it gets complicated:

I personally visited one of the clinics named in their email. The staff there told me that NO ONE from the insurance company ever contacted them. They were completely unaware of any inquiry.

So either:

  • The insurer contacted the wrong person/branch and got a bad response
  • Someone at the clinic gave inaccurate information without authority
  • The insurer's "confirmations" are not what they seem

I am now trying to get a signed letter from the clinic confirming they were never contacted.

My questions:

  1. Has anyone dealt with a similar situation where an insurer claimed provider verification but the provider denied being contacted?
  2. Is requesting full documentary evidence of their "confirmations" (names, dates, written records) a reasonable and standard thing to do?
  3. Should I pay anything before seeing their actual evidence, or does paying imply admission?
  4. At what point should I get a lawyer involved, and what kind of lawyer handles this?
  5. Any other advice on how to handle this without making my situation worse?

I am trying to stay calm, cooperative, and professional throughout. I have not admitted anything and I have not paid anything yet. Just looking for perspective from people who may have been through something similar.

Any advice genuinely appreciated.

Got accused of insurance fraud by my international health insurer — they claim they contacted my doctors who "confirmed" the bills were fake. But when I visited the clinic, they said no one ever contacted them. What do I do?
