1981 Yamaha DT100 continued…

Ok so I’ve gotten my 1981 dt100 starting decently easily off of 1-2 kicks. It’s still kinda got some lower compression so I plan on a rebuild but I’m having a lean issue. The bike does not like running when I turn the choke off and the RPMs hang super bad when I rev the bike up. I’m not exactly sure on why it is running so terribly and was wondering if anyone had any guidance? I am starting to suspect crank seals but maybe I’m being stupid and overlooking the easy things. The carb is sealed correctly and the boot has no cracks.

1988 Honda Elite 50

Hey guys seeking some help on this honda scooter i’ve been working on. I bought it non running and it ultimately needed a rebuild. I bought a full kit with a new jug, piston, rings, gaskets and wrist pin. It now has 130psi of compression. The carb was super gummed up too. Super hard to get out stuff so i put it in the ultrasonic cleaner a couple of times initially. Put it all back together and no start. Took the carb off again after confirming fuel was getting to the carb and that we had spark under compression (by putting so mixed fuel directly into the cylinder and having it fire up for a second). I cleaned it again and made sure the pressed in pilot was clear and the jet needle and main are clear. I put everything back together with the airbox fully assembled and it would start up. But it almost always dies and sputters out soon after. I got it idling good today but out of frustration of the bike immediately bogging and dying with any amount of throttle i took the carb off once again! It is currently all put back together and it dies on idle and bogs and dies with any throttle. I will mention after my rebuild i ensured to put premix gas into the tank and use the oil injection too to ensure it was working because I wasn’t sure how it was blown up before. I think the oil injection works but that doesn’t really matter because it won’t stay running. Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated because I am quite lost. Thanks in advance!!

any tips for small 2 stroke piston rings?? 1988 Honda Elite 50

I am rebuilding a 50cc scooter and replacing the jug, piston, rings and other bits. Since the piston is so small when I am trying to squeeze the piston rings and get the jug on I am having a really hard time. All while trying to keep the rings on their locating pins and the awkward position. Any tech tips would help because it’s fair to say this little 50cc is making me way too frustrated…

I’m stuck. 1981 Yamaha DT100

Ok so I have a non running DT100 that had a no spark issue. I chased down the issue that ended up being a bad source coil. With that replaced I have spark. I cleaned the carb, made sure fuel was getting to the bowl and the float worked. I checked the reeds and they seem to be good and not stuck. Trying to kick it over gives me nothing. Not a burble or anything. I sprayed starting fluid into the carb and once through the spark plug hole and got nothing. Fuel flow is good, and it has good spark so I checked compression. Within 2 kicks it was getting 90 psi with throttle wide open. I’m not sure what else I should check and I feel a little silly being so stuck on one of these old simple 2 strokes. Anyone have any ideas?

Pick your brains a bit… 1981 Yamaha DT100

Hey yall, I recently just fixed the spark issue on my 81 DT100 through replacing the source coil. It has strong healthy spark. I checked gas flow through the petcock and it was good, cleaned pilot and main jet and tried to kick it over. Seems like it wasn’t even really trying to turn over at all. I know the bike hasn’t started in a while so I have been patient but even with some go-go juice it wasn’t even trying. I checked the compression and got 90psi in 2 kicks which I feel is plenty. I had to stop for the night but before I go back to it after work tomorrow does anyone have any input? Something I might be overlooking and may be an issue with these bikes? I was thinking maybe a clogged pipe?… idk just throwing out an idea. Thanks in advance!

1981 Yamaha Dt100

How do yall suggest i remove this busted rotor screw? Also my source coil is reading no resistance. Could this be busted wiring behind the plate or am I most likely replacing the coil. They are hard to find and expensive so I am trying to find any reason to tell myself I don’t have to lol!

help what am i looking at? any tips?

So I just recently picked up a 1981 Yamaha DT100 that has no spark. I thought to pick up a condenser because I’ve heard that is the issue with a lot of old 2 strokes. I’m new to this and self taught so any help would be appreciated. Where does this part go that I bought or is this the wrong part? It was advertised as a 1981 Yamaha DT100 condenser. Also any other tips on fixing the no spark? Just having some trouble
