Don't take this post too seriously: about POS

Ok, I'm on this subreddit daily, and I see the term POS all the time. But, bruh, c'mon... I STILL read POS as "piece of $#!+". I know people mean point of sale... But I'm just so juvenile that I can't get past it...

I can't be alone in this, right? Anyone else chuckle to themselves when they read people asking about or complaining about their POS?

How long to wait before contacting deceased client's family about balance due?

I'm not really asking about laws or anything like that... I'm mostly asking about decency of being a human. Basically, A client (well, now ex-client) of mine died extremely suddenly three days ago and I just found out about it. I have only a business relationship with him, and only have contact information of his sister because she was on a few emails and her email signature contains her phone number.

He owed me about $800 for the remainder of a job I did for him two weeks ago. I am in the busy season right now, and we are talking about a physical product, so it ACTUALLY would be a fiscal loss to not recover the money.

SOME folders readable but not editable on network drive after upgrading to truenas form freenas.

SOLVED: changed permissions recursively in "Storage: Pools: each pool" individually needed unchecked and then rechecked.

So yesterday I upgraded from FreeNAS 11 to TrueNAS 13. Everything seems fine except that on the 9 network attached drives, some folders in each drive are read only (actually it says "you need permission to perform this action" when I try to create a notepad file inside the folder. The weirdest part is that it isn't every folder within a given drive (for example the folder with my yoga videos can be written to, but the folder with my resistance bands workouts can be read but not written to even though both are in the W drive of the network.)

Current version of TrueNAS: TrueNAS-13.0-U6.8

Troubleshooting already tried:

1.) taking ownership of the whole drive in the windows environment. (the console window says that access is denied)

2.) disconnecting and reconnecting the network drive within windows. (the same sub folders are read only after reconnect)

3.) restarting the NAS box

4.) disconnecting and reconnecting to the NAS box drives with different credentials (it actually won't let me connect even with username: root and the box's password)

I want REAL soy sauce.

I found out that most Americans have never had actual soy sauce.

Anyone have a web link or idea of where u can buy the real stuff? I live in a relatively large city, so I can go to an Asian market, but I'd need a brand recommendation.

Spotting phishing emails

Twice this season I've been approached by events that wanted me to join their festivals that I realized were money scams.

One even said I was referred to them by a food truck in town (one that actually exists in my city) that I actually have seen at events I've done.

Both were very responsive and sounded pretty legit, even one giving me pushback about being only being able to do 3 of the 4 days (and still wanting me to pay the full amount).

The biggest red flags were gmail email addresses for the person who reached out to me, and the usage of the word "kindly". I forwarded these both to their respective hosts from the official event websites, and they confirmed that the emails weren't sent by them.

But, any other red flags people have seen that can help us not get fooled?

If you hide your post history, I automatically lose ALL respect for you.

People say sone insane things on here, and although there are tons of ways to see the posts it people who hide their profile history, it was a conscious decision they had to make in order to hide it that shows a certain mindset.

Seeing a hot take from someone, then clicking their profile only to see they hide their racism/idiocy/stupidity/or hatred behind anonymity... It's not even worth engaging with them, because they will respond as if they have no accountability for their words.

People who make the claim "I hide things so my coworkers don't figure out who I am" or "it's for my protection" need to understand that either a burner account should be used or they need a lesson about how the Internet works

Remove sticker residue

My father in law is going into hospice and my mother in law asked me to make a quilt for his bed. I really want to include this shirt from my son, but it has sticker residue from when a sticker went through the washer and dryer.

What should I use to get the residue off without removing the print (it's not screen printed ink dying the fabric, it's like that plastic decal kinda image)

Anyone ever managed to get the vendor fee back from the city for an event that sucked?

I signed up for three out of five of a concert series with the city. It was only $150 for each night, but it's halfway over the first night and I've only done $167 in sales.

Obviously I'll never get the money back for tonight, but has anyone ever cancelled and requested their vendor/booth fee back from a government? It would be nice to get both the $300 back and be able to take other gigs on those nights.

Hungry and homeless eaters

I used to work in brick and mortar restaurants for years as a server, and never once did I see homeless people being fed. But as a truck owner, I see it a lot more often: eaters that I know can't pay are still fed.

How many homeless people do you get at your truck in an average year? And what is the go to menu item you make for them? And how do you handle kids that have no concept of the menu price and hand you a quarter and a few pennies to cover their bill?

Junk mail/flyers

I just had a thought as I was clearing off my kitchen table: some poor local businesses (three of them) just wasted money by mailing me a flyer. I didn't even look at them, just saw that they were glossy and flashy then threw them in the trash.

I have no idea who or even what industry they were from.

Clearly direct mailers work, otherwise businesses wouldn't use them. But I can help thinking that most people are like me: see that it's junk mail and just toss it without reading.

Has anyone gotten measurable results from flyer mailers? If so, please share your results and your industry

Can send texts from iPad or MacBook to android phone...

My husband bought a new iPhone and now he can't text me (or any other android phone number) from his iPad or his laptop.

They activated his new phone for him at the Verizon store, if that is important.

What settings should he change to be able to restore this function?

How long ago was the first blackhole?

So, if the big bang was 13 billion years ago, did the first blackhole need to come from a star or did any of these gobble monsters start out as just blackholes from day one?

How do we stop people from posting their color wheels?

It's really bringing down the quality of the subreddit...

It adds nothing to the conversation, enlightens nobody, and is self important.

Let's stop allowing it.

Is EVERYONE conservative in this sport?

I saw a few matches and wanted to get involved so I looked into it.

I've been to a few practices at 2 different local groups and I keep seeing DTOM flags, blue line flags, and a lot... I mean A LOT of gun stickers on the other guys pickup trucks.

Nobody has said anything directly to me about politics, but the writing is on the wall. Is it just these two groups, or is everyone conservative?

I'm in the US, btw
