need Ideas for cool and ethical volunteering!!

Hi, I like to dream about volunteering abroad for a good cause. One day I really want to do it. What do you think I should do? I am looking for something effective for the local community or environment. Online I see a lot of volunteer opportunities abroad but many give me 'white saviour' vibes... If you have any ideas or thoughts about this please share! I am still in the discovery phase so I'd be happy to hear anything and everything (anywhere or online opportunities are also fine!)

Just to clarify, by 'cool' I mean something meaningful for the community, not instagram cool etc.

What is wrong with these formats?

I have been using either of these two templates and I am worried there is something wrong with the design. One has full separating lines between sections (right version) and the other just and underline under names of sections (left version). I was told to remove the lines, so I now using mainly the left version but still no call back...

what is wrong with the template, does it look bad? Should I change the font? I hyperlink the words email, Linkedin, Portfolio.

All the dates and text are made up (ofc my experiences didn't all start in May 2026) , apologies for this but I am terrified my current boss sees this post and decides to fire me. For each application, I try to move around my experiences and tailor almost each bullet point to match the JD...

I am mainly looking into the climate/ sustainability/ policy area. Where? Mainly UK/ Europe

How about the eternal dilemma of 1 page or 2 pages? I am relatively junior so I feel like I need the 2 pages to prove I am worth.

Thanks for any advice :)))

(This is a repost, this subreddit doesn't allow me to repost so I just copied and pasted from my post on other subreddits)

Will a PhD help me find a job in development?

  • I hope to find a job in international development one day and my dream is to do something related to climate change and migration. (but I am also willing to do anything at this point...given the current job market...) I am considering doing a PhD on climate migration (sociology path). Any ideas?
  • Is there any university that is well seen? Is it worth applying to Oxford/ Cambridge/ big UK unies? just for the names? (in the unlikely event I get accepted here LOL)
  • context: I have work experience as ESG analyst and I am completing an internship in an international organisation.

how long did it take you to learn the language?

Hi guys! I am curious to know, how long did it take you to learn the language? How old were you when you started? I am just over 25 and I believe that I might be a bit too old to just 'pick up' the language, so I need a structured plan.

Do you think it would make sense for me to focus on listening and talking first and only later on writing and reading? My main goal is to communicate with my Chinese friends and be able to talk to local people when I visit China next year.

Any tips on how to approach the study, besides the basic suggestions that are valid for learning any other languages? Do you think any specific dialect/ accent of Mandarin would be easier to learn?

thanks!!

need advice

I moved to a new place for an internship and my mum will come visit me. While I am grateful she's coming I feel sad because I left home for a reason... at the same time, I want to give her a good time and enjoy travelling together but I am scared that this will impact negatively my work and mental health, especially because I think she's travelling because she is feeling depressed and not really because she wants to see me. I don't think I'll ever bring this up with her because I feel like I would break her heart but at the same time is it okay to have these feelings? Am I a bad daughter to think this? Please help me see the good side. I know that given what is happening rn in the world being able to travel and spend time with parents it's a blessing but I feel miserable, hence why I am posting this on reddit instead of speaking directly with her lol.

dating Italian men

Hi everyone! so I am Italian (woman) and my friend today asked me 'how it is like to date italian men? So I want to ask to someone not Italian, how was it for you? Did you find something good or bad when dating Italian men? Or something that made you think 'wow this is so Italian, I didn't experience it with other cultures'.

I couldn't give an answer to my friend because:

  1. I am kind of sick of this question, for me the quality of the relationship depends on the person, not on their nationality but still I want I want to give my friend some advice.

  2. I've only dated Italian men lol so I don't have any basis for comparison... any good or bad things I have experience for me their are just related to 'men'...

thanks!

[Product Question]- replace L'Oreal Triple active Day Moisturiser

Hi! I have been using this product for a while until I found out that it was slightly making my cheeks inflamed and I think it's becasue it contains a bit of fragrance and some acids that react bad with my skin (just guessing as I am not a skin care expert). So I need to change it BUT I really like the creamy and light texture. What similar product do you recommend? Perhaps something natural or dermatologist approved as my skin is quite sensitive atm. My skin type is oily but also dry on the cheeks. My skincare for now is Round Lab 1025 Dokdo moisturiser and SPF 50 from SkinCeuticals.

thanks if u have any recommendations:)))

Global Youth Network - application

Hi, can anyone advise if this is a scam or a legit website? The name of the website is Global Youth Network Empowering Youth, which offers a paid funded programme but requires candidates to pay an application fee. I read here on Reddit ppl saying to be aware of websites which asks for payments for 'a fully funded participation in a conference' and I just noticed this is the process of this one... please advise thanks!
