Digital Microscope

Looking to buy one this week. Any recommendations? My back is killing me from leaning over to get close with magnify glasses on.

Ticking noise with burned cd’s.

Bought some verbatim cd-r’s on amazon and they make this noise in my cd2. Could the disc clamp maybe need adjusted? They play fine but they are ever so slightly thinner. All original sega cd games are fine.

Hakko FX-971 worth the upgrade?

I have been using the 888dx for around a year for repairing and modding game consoles. To me it seems like I need to keep the 888 pretty hot 750+ to flow the solder as fast as ide like. Then it burns the flux though and is hard on the tips.

With the 971 do you not have to keep the temp up as high to flow the solder as fast?

New CD2 owner

Few questions.

  1. What is everyone replacing the original battery with?

  2. When you have an MD1, do you run a cable from the headphone jack to the mixing port?

Thermometers.. So many choices

Looking for a new instant-read probe and wireless thermometer to use with my egg. So many different brands its hard to choose.

Typhur Gold got some good reviews for the wireless probes and so did Chef IQ.

Many people seem to like the thermoworks for the instant-read probes.

What do you suggest?

Genesis S-335 vs SP-E-335

Trying to decide on which to get. Price is pretty close between the 2. Can even throw the regular e-335 in the mix.

Tools that were game changers?

What tools did you buy recently for a deck build and wondered how you did without them in the past afterwards?

I am just a home owner and not a pro builder but these 2 tools made a huge difference. Used them pretty much everyday when doing the framing.

DeWalt 600 lb trigger clamp - Clamping stubborn boards into place to get them even/level before screwing them down.

Ryobi corded hand planer - Allows you to get a perfectly level surface before putting the decking composite down. Used it to plane my beams as well because its rare we get two 2x12's that are the same width.

What drivetrain mods after tune?

Some of it could be in the tune and my driving but since adding power 1-2 and 2-3 I feel the stock mounts allow too much movement. Do the group N mounts make a big enough difference? I just dont want to add too much NVH if I can help it.
