If the magic space rocks are not enough of an indication that hollow stars is a space fantasy setting and not hard sci fi, this surely is.

If the magic space rocks are not enough of an indication that hollow stars is a space fantasy setting and not hard sci fi, this surely is.

Yep. this is an actual thing in hollow stars. used by the krelian empire as a orbital defense platform.

It is also equipped with a bayonet because why the hell not?

A little carrier I made for my sci fi setting

This is the Musket-class superlight assault carrier.

It is perhaps the oldest class of ship that IGEF still uses, even if its only use is to teach children how to use starship forms. for teaching purposes, it is confined to the first 5 dimensions.

It is equipped with a basic AI core to teach the child what being a ship AI feels like which makes later adjustment to other ships easier.

It is, by IGEF standards, a simplistic starship, as it is equipped with a singular drivestone engine, one jumpstone engine and one liftstone antigrav generator, instead of the dozens other ships use for hyper-precise manouvering.

This ship does not have any shields and relies soly on its armor to survive hits. This is to make sure these ships are sometimes lost during fights, which serves to teach that starship forms are replacable, as children will likely have to loose and replace dozens of starships until they learn how to properly control them.

But the main feature is of course the starships it carries. 32 battledisks and 384 fighter drones.

This is, at first, an overwhelming number of ships to control. but it is meant to be this way. Controlling multiple smaller starships is after all, essential for even the most basic of tasks IGEF spaceship forms have to do.

What would your sci fi OCs do against a krelian seraphim-class autonomus dreadnought?

The Seraphim-class autonomus dreadnought serves primarely as a morale-breaking tool. It's AI is programmed to be as sadistic as possible to enemy forces, and while not exacly being the smartest AI in the setting, it is still orders of magnitute more intelligent than a baseline human. The reaction is in the tens of picoseconds.

It is armed with one hypernova-beamer(essentially a bigass gun that fires a hypernova worth of energy in a tight-ish beam) and 10 nova-beamers(same as before, but normal supernovas instead of hypernovas) as it's primary armment. it will likely not fire them as it takes almost 2 minutes to charge one of these, during which time it cannot move.

Secondary armments are mainly kinetics, with 300 2000mm armor piercing railguns, and 8000 120mm armor piercing railguns doing most of the heavy lifting.

Armor-wise it's forcefields can take about 10^26 joules of energy before breaking down, and the actual armor below consists of 50-ish meters of tungsten carbite.

In classic Hollow Stars fashion, ship AIs give themselves funny names, so let's call this one the "misguided shot".

Also, fun fact, these things tend to get absolutely demolished in Hollow Stars, as unlike "proper" warships, they like to play with their enemy. this is effective against a rebellius organic force. this is NOT effective against AI-controlled warships.

Reputation-wise, most ships just don't like them, and organics fear them.

I don't like them either, so feel free to absolutely smite it with the combined force of a million gods or something.

Me working on Hollow stars

Hollow Stars is pretty much just a collection of insane ideas with basic concepts of a lore.

Its gotten to the point where basic fighters which tend to be deployed in the billions for small skirmishes are armed with weapons capable of erasing solar systems in a matter of attoseconds.

and I love it that way,

An Antwing's journal - chapter 14 - flashback time 2.5 (Plus a little drawing of the Aerodreadnought)

The two sisters were walking down the harbor when they saw a skinned corpse on one of the docks. This is strange because skinned corpses do not belong on the harbor.

So, ScD-7-155 decided to poke it. and it woke up.

ScD-7-155: "YEEK"

The corpse swung once at her, and ScD-7-155 got thrown to the floor. it stepped over her, and right before it could snap her neck, it was vaporized by one of the turrets from the Aerodreadnought.

ScD-7-154 couldn't help but chuckle at the situation while ScD-7-155 looked like she just almost died.

Which she did.

And nobody would have cared if she died, because ScD-7-155 has died and come back before.

After regaining her senses, ScD-7-155 hides under the wing of her sister of warmth, and is promptly picked up by her.

ScD-7-155 falls asleep almost immediately.

when she wakes up, she is in the archive with her sister who is frantically searching for... something.

ScD-7-155: "Hey, what are you searching for?"

ScD-7-154: "An explanation for what that just was?!"

ScD-7-155: "Well, that looked like a flayed corpse to me..."

ScD-7-154: "Yeah, but why was it alive?"

ScD-7-155: "same reason I come back every time?"

ScD-7-154: "Probably not, you come back because you got cursed by an animus, and there aren't any animi here to curse the corpse. but the local branch of the IDOCP is already looking into that one."

ScD-7-155: "Then why are you researching it? didn't we want to read history stuff?"

ScD-7-154: "Oh, yeah, we did want to do that."

ScD-7-155 takes a random scroll from one of the walls and starts reading it.

ScD-7-155 "Oh, hey, a cool fairytale."

The two sisters then read the story together.

eventually, ScD-7-155 asks "Hey, why does everyone always die in these?

ScD-7-154: "because... uh... actually, I don't know why."

(Also, what do you guys think of Tarantula as a person so far?)

An Antwing's journal - chapter 13 - flashback time 2 - first time in a colony(Plus one sleepy Tarantula for your mental stability.)

(I am gonna have to wait a couple of days until I can read winter turning again, so enjoy some backstory and conversations until I get the book back.)

ScD-7-154 and ScD-7-155 were eating the usual mix of kelp and unidentifiable mushrooms in the room they shared during free time when it was announced through the local hivemind that the Aerodreadnought was going to dock at Colony 1.

While that happens regularly, its regularly by the standards of a machine older than written history. meaning neither of the two sisters had ever witnessed it happen before in their lives.

They were exited at first, until the next part of the announcement came. All non-antwing dragons on the ship and around it were to be killed, and the Aerodreadnought would fly beyond the atmosphere to protect the location of Colony 1.

The problem with that was that there was currently a skywing delegation aboard the ship.

ScD-7-155 "So... How much of a diplomatic nightmare do you think this will be, sis?"

ScD-7-154 "Approximately y e s."

ScD-7-155 "Well, shit..."

ScD-7-154 "Shit sums it up pretty well."

The skywings were terminated within a few minutes.

4 hours later...

The Aerodreadnought docked, and its engines went silent at last.

The two sisters decided to explore the colony together. Well, at least parts of it.

Antwing colonies are too large to explore fully in a week or so, and the Aerodreadnought would only be staying for 6 days. So, of course, they had to decide where to go.

ScD-7-154 "Well, I think we should absolutely go visit the local archives and read about history, and no, you do not get a choice, because I am still in control of your mind, sis."

ScD-7-155 "yeah, I know, but that does sound super fun, so no complaints here."

And so, the two sisters went to search for the archive...

surely nothing traumatizing will happen to the two in the next chapter.

(also, y'all got any headcannons about this?)

Just drawings of dragons from 2 of my fantribes

The left one is a grasswing, the right one is an ashwing.

And yes, that ashwing is as traumatized as he looks.

Just a lil drone

(This is an OC I made which lives within the world of Iian Bank's culture series)

"Hi, I am the contact drone Qarind Ois, can I join this house?"

(I am going to be very busy today, so responses may take a while, sorry)

Any thoughs on this idea for a world?

Let me start by saying this world is not supposed to have hard rules and is mostly just supposed to be the background for some children's books I may or may not write in the future.

the idea is basically 'Fantasy world where everything is made of paper and the only sapient beings are paper airplanes'.

Different colours of paper do different things, for example, white paper is the most basic paper and commonly used as construction paper, brown paper for moving parts, red paper for fuel, black paper for engines and so on.

The main focus is probably gonna be on different types of paper airplanes and how to make them, but I am absolutely going to do endless amounts of worldbuilding on what their culture would look like, and probably never show it in the things I write.

[Any lit except Novella] your OC (or their nation or civilization or whatever) messed up and now need help. and help they shall(probably) receive!

Your OC, or Original civilization/nation messed up absurdly badly.

but then, they remembered that once upon a time, they met a civilization that may just be able to help them. and they still had the contact data.

So, they called IGEF(the intergalactic exploratory force).

and within what seemed like an instant to anyone capable of observing, a starship appears and asks "hello, you said you wanted to meet us once more? well, here I am. what is this about?"

Rules:

No romance (I don't think I need to clarify why you are not supposed to flirt with the spaceship.)

Swearing is allowed.

combat is allowed

Please keep the civilizations below type 7.9 on the kardevish scale.

have fun.

(also, for some general context about IGEF, essentially, they are a benevolent type 7.9 civilization that just tries to build a utopia for everyone except themselves.)

(also, I am going to bed soon and therefor responses may take a while.)

I need some help with population numbers for one of my fantribes.

Hello, author of the AAJ(An Antwing's journal. that weird fanfic with the brown cover picture and two golden roses that has gotten posted daily for the past 6 days.) here, I need some help with population numbers for the antwings.

The problem is that I am really bad with numbers, and am about to make a concrete statement on the number of something in the next chapter(not directly the population, but somewhat related for balancing purposes).

Anyway, onto the relevant lore bits:

Antwings have three subspecies(reffered to as drones, and not including hybrids with other tribes),
one designed for combat(also named guard drones or protector drones),
one made for minor leadership roles and complex tasks(Subcommand drones),
and one made to do any task that isn't too complex(worker drones).

The population split looks approximatly like this:

Subcommand drones: 5%

Guard drones: 20%

worker drones: 75%.

Reproductive cycle(don't worry, I didn't put any NSFW detail into this):

Antwings have a reproductive heat every 2-3 months. it usually lasts 1.5 weeks, in which an average of 2 clutches are produced. an antwing clutch can have between 6 and 12 eggs, usually around 8.

Antwings usually live about 30-ish years(exept guard drones who never get older than 13 years) and reach sexual maturity at the age of 5. reproductive heats happen from their 6th year of being alive until death.

Cultural, geographical and logistical context:

Antwings live near the coasts of phyrrhia, preffering the colder regions and areas where seawings also live.

They are capable of living underwater, however, a lot of their colonies are at least partially above water or on land to allow for metalworking.

they have 6 big colonies, which act as mayor population centers and have most of their industrial capacity.

They have a constant overpopulation problem.

The antwings are practically in love with agriculture.

Lives are used like extremely replacable tools.

They are painfully aware of their inability to do proper population control, but don't really want to do anything to change that.

Just part of a song I am making for a fighting animation

I am making a song for a little fighting animation I am planning to make and just want to hear people's opinions on what I already have.

Author: ScD-7-155
Assigned nickname: Tarantula
Home: colony 7, aka Aerodreadnought
Current location: Jade mountain academy

Looks like I got my question from yesterday answered.

The blueprints of the Legally distinct wave motion gun Aerodreadnought's primary impact beamer got stolen. this is bad on levels most of the people reading this, which, granted, is probably just me, don't even want to know.

why did I even bring them? and how do I tell command to vaporize this place? I can't communicate with them, sending a letter takes too long and is likely to get compromised. shit how do I fix this mess?

Standard protocol would tell me to kill everyone here. I can't really do that considering I am extremely bad at fighting.

I can't control the minds of the other dragons here like I could with non-subcommand drones, I don't know where to start searching for the blueprint, I don't know what anyone would do with it, and absolutely do not know how I will get it back if I find it.

My main suspects are Carnelian, as she would probably be very interested in the blueprints of the weapon that pulverized a decently large part of her tribe's landmass, Qibli because he is probably intelligent enough to at least understand what they are, and Winter because he just seems like that kinda guy to me. but it could be anyone. even people outside my winglet. outside this school.

Hell, the only dragon I have a reason not to suspect is kinkajou. and that reason is wonky at best.

Everything else that happened today is negligible compared to the impact beamer situation, but a short list of things that happened is that we went hunting, peril arrived at the school, and for some reason everyone panicked about that, Kinkajou sees Moonwatcher as her best friend, I apologized for biting Carnelian. insincerely, of course, she was still annoying, and I drew some mushrooms in the art cave.

I need to start investigating tomorrow.

In fact, I will start tonight when everyone is asleep and search every place I can find.

To absolutely nobody's surprise, someone who cannot get out of their own goddamn supercluster is going to loose against a civilization capable of creating and erasing universes on a whim.
