I absolutely adore Monarchs and I was able to get some good pictures of one today ❤️

My amazing wife bought this for me as a wedding gift. I always wanted a gun with capture papers, and a P38 too boot is even better! Definitely was a must-have gun for the collection.

From Top Right and Working Clockwise:

1. 1945 production PP: In particularly fantastic shape for a late-war production pistol! I’ve always had a soft spot for the PP series. I have yet to get a PPK, but that’ll be soon, I’m sure!

2. 1943 production Spreewerk P38: An “a” series Spreewerk P38 complete with capture papers. Big thanks to my wife for this amazing wedding gift! I attached a picture of the capture papers as well.

3. PDP: with Vortex Defender Enclosed Dot, DPT trigger, and Streamlight TLR 7. This is one of the regulars in my CCW rotation.

4. PPQ Q5 Match: Polymer frame Q5 match pistol. I’m going to work on building this into a match pistol and possible home defense gun. I’d like to get into competition pistol shooting, so I figured I’d start with this one and go from there!

Hey everyone! For context, this sighting occurred back in the summer of 2020 on Long Island, New York. This was the height of the pandemic in the Tri-State area, so air traffic was way down compared to the usual, and we have some of the worst light pollution in the US thanks to NYC and population density. Helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft are very common here. That’s important for what I’m about to share.

It was nighttime. I was hanging out with a buddy of mine smoking a cigar out in my front yard when I saw this bright purplish-blue cigar-shaped object a good few hundred feet in the air, but probably no greater than a couple of thousand feet up since it wasn’t terribly higher than the tree line. The object was hovering almost like a helicopter, but without FAA strobe lighting.

I remember being mesmerized as I’m an avid sky watcher and I’ve seen my fair share of helicopters and this wasn’t behaving like any helicopter I’ve seen. The helicopters that fly over my house or anywhere near my house like this object was tend to be very loud, and they tend to either fly west towards NYC east to the Hamptons heliport, alongside the parkway that’s in my backyard, or they’re flying overhead towards the nearby Coast Guard Base.

The absolute silence of this object was frankly deafening. The object would move laterally slightly south, slightly north, and then laterally left and right almost as if it was a chess piece moving across a chessboard. It wasn’t zig zagging so much as moving in an almost linear fashion.

I ran out to the front yard, took out my Samsung Note, and began to take pictures and record. The pictures I attached to this post are of this object, and I’ll attempt to upload the video as a comment under this post.

The object would remain in the area it was operating in for another couple of minutes or so, and then it left. It felt like it was there for a long time, but in actuality it was really only there for probably no more than 5 minutes. My friend who was with me didn’t seem as surprised as I was, because he observed this with me, and upon the object’s departure I ran inside to go tell my girlfriend, who thankfully was really supportive and believed me. She’ll never be able to see UAP due to her visual impairment, but I’m glad she supported me and still does today.

I kept this sighting pretty close to my chest as I didn’t want to be seen as a crazy person or a lunatic, but the recent DOW drop regarding UAP sightings and eyewitness accounts that I found in that file encouraged me to come out more to share this experience. It feels nice to know that I wasn’t alone in experiencing this.
