Restaurants that serve Thanksgiving dinner in Harford County

Looking for places open on Thanksgiving that serve a sit down menu that includes traditional thanksgiving dinner. Don’t mind if it’s a little expensive. We are in Fallston near Youth Benefit. About 8-10 people in our party running the gamut of ages. Little ones, middle aged and old. Thanks in advance.

Coming down on Wednesday, 9/30 - will it be worth it?

Hello, my husband and I had plans to come in from Maryland from next Wednesday thru Saturday. We were going to stay at the Marquis de Lafayette.

Do you think the flooding will be gone and things will be open?

Stay safe and dry. Thanks in advance.

Quick question - free day in Bayeux in mid October where to go outside the city?

Husband and I are staying 3 days in Bayeux. One day is taken up by an 8 hour D-Day WW2 tour.

What could we do for the other day? Thinking of either a day trip via e-bike or car to Lounges-sur-Mer or driving to Honfleur. We have a car.

I know the Bayeux Tapestry is in London and I think we have the WW2 history component covered.

NOT looking to go east to Brittany or Mont St Michel since we are doing that later in our trip.

Thank you.

Why are there so many Trump supporters in Harford County?

Our whole Ravens tailgate can’t stop themselves from the following comments:

- “THOse pEOpLe” in the city.
- Brandon Scott’s hair is round and it hurts my feelings even though I live in Forest Hill
- why can’t Dan Cox get elected
- my friend’s son’s aunt’s car mechanic’s son got a sex change operation at public school

Just scheduled my bisalp!

46f and my iud needs to come out. Scheduled a bisalp and iud removal.

What isn’t mentioned as much as is that bisalps greatly reduce ovarian cancer risk.

So I’m pretty damned happy I won’t be having the iud ripped out with no pain management and especially that I won’t have to have any kids I dont want.

Fuck the patriarchy!

Baltimore humidity is making me lose my will to live

Just kidding, I’m not considering self harm - my life is pretty good.

But seriously the dew point is 73 over the next few days. That’s awful. We all deserve better than this misery. I was visiting some friends in CO earlier in the summer. It was upper 90s out there and boy what a difference low humidity makes.

Any good ex-Christian deconstructing books?

Enjoyed “a well trained wife” and Tia Levings (might be getting the name wrong) is awesome.

Any good books for a recovering evangelical? I’ve heard of “The God Delusion” by Richard Dawkins. Has anyone read that? Has anyone else read anything good?

It’s very hard to unlearn all of this stuff that was beat into your head over many years and I’m in my 40s!

Reims or Epernay?

Hello, husband and I will be spending 4 days and 3 nights in the Champagne region the second week of October.

We plan to stay in Reims, we were thinking there would be more to see, but now I am questioning whether we should be in Epernay.

We will be visiting some champagne purveyors which I understand to be closer to Epernay. I have not booked all of our activities since we are more than three months out. We like champagne, food tours and outside activities.

Can anyone offer any insight into this area? What activities are fun for healthy active people? Thank you in advance.

The concept of “community” within the Christian church made me a loner

Reading through this sub made me realize that growing up in an evangelical church made me a loner.

From a very young age I felt suffocated by the church “community”. As a kid, everyone seemed meddlesome, bossy and disrespectful of me as a person. I just wanted to live quietly in peace and not be badgered and told what to do and how to think and that I was wrong all of the time. I was under ten years old when I started feeling this way!

I recall being commanded to SMILE! By women in the church because as a female child I was supposed to go around grinning like a dumbass to make the adults feel good. Never mind the fact that I had a psycho abusive father at home so perhaps that is why I wasn’t so ebullient at all times.

So I get that as people deconstruct in their faith they miss community. Everyone’s story is different.

For me getting away from the church “community” was a relief and made me happy to be alone. I am enough, I don’t need to be surrounded by people who DO NOT love me as a person, they just see me as a means to reinforce their worldview.

Parents get too much sympathy

My aunt just said to me “oh your sister is so busy chasing two kids around unlike you who has more free time”.

Here’s the actual situation. Sister does not work, kids are at school. She takes them back and forth to school and sits in her $4MM house with an in ground swimming pool all day spending her husband’s money.

Meanwhile I work 50 hours a week in a demanding professional career and help my husband run his business (he’s self employed).

So please tell me who has more free time?!

One day in Caen in October

Hello, my husband and I are arriving in Caen on October 12th (Monday) and have a free day. Does anyone have any good suggestions for activities? We like being out and about around people and don’t mind walking. We have done food tours in the past.

In the days after our free day we are doing a WW2 full day tour and heading west to Mont St Michel and the surrounding areas so we are looking for something different to do on this free day.

Is there enough to do in Caen or should we drive over to Honfleur? We have a rental car.

Thank you

Mont St Michel (MSM) and surrounding areas

Hello,

My husband and I will be arriving in the MSM area, staying in Ardevon around noon on Wednesday, Oct 14th. We are checking out of our hotel and leaving the area around noon on Friday, Oct 16th. So we have Wednesday afternoon and all of Thursday in this area.

Since this is October and not the busy summer season, do you think we should plan to visit Mont St Michel Wednesday afternoon or plan to go Thursday morning?

Do we need tickets for MSM? What do people usually do there?

Also in the limited time we have in the area, what else should we do in the time we have when we are not at MSM? I have heard Dinan is beautiful to walk around and Cancale has great oysters.

Any restaurant recommendations near Ardevon?

Thank you in advance.

Best place for a non-gel pedicure in Canton or Fells?

Olivia Nails has pissed me off for the last time with their inept scheduling.

I just get a regular pedicure. Sometimes my male partner comes too. Thanks in advance.

Why is William at the FA Cup without his kids?

I’m watching the FA Cup right now. William is there “working” by himself looking bored. Want to be “relatable”? Bring your kids to the big game!

My god, I hate Mother’s Day

I’m sure the majority of us feel this way but i needed to rant. As a 46 year old childfree female I hate this holiday.

I hate that as I go out this weekend it will be assumed that I am a mother and will be wished a happy Mother’s Day. (To that I will respond “I’m very happily childfree thank you”)

This stupid holiday just reinforces the “whole cult of mom” and how moms are these god like creatures that are more put upon than anyone else alive.
