Combining strengths training and loaded stretching

I’m currently running a program with 2 full body strength workouts per week, and recently added 2 loaded stretch/flexibility sessions focused on backbends and splits.

Now I’m wondering what would be better for progress and recovery:

Option 1:2x FBW strength and 2x flexibility/loaded stretch (splits and bacbends)

Option 2: 2x lower body + splits and 2x upper body + backbends

Weekly volume and frequency would stay basically the same either way, I’m mainly wondering which setup is usually better for recovery and long-term progress, especially since flexibility training can also be pretty taxing.

Would love to hear from people combining strength + flexibility/contortion training.

Why do you train flexibility?

I don't mean here doing mobility in "normal healthy range" but people whose goals are deep backbends, oversplits and other advanced figures? Why do you do this, what is your motivation?

Fasting vs food addiction

Has anyone here overcome binge eating / food addiction through fasting?

I’m specifically asking about longer fasts. Did it help you break the obsession with food and binge cycles, or did it make things worse?

I keep seeing completely opposite opinions about fasting and binge eating, so I’d really like to hear real experiences from people who actually struggled with it.

What kind of fasting did you do, and how did it affect your relationship with food long term?

Yoga and workouts

Hello,

I’ve been practicing yoga for a few years and I used to always choose more advanced classes especially in terms of asanas and pranayama.

Recently though I started going to the gym and doing flexibility focused workouts so I kind of moved my physical progress goals there nad cannot push so much in yoga.

I still want to keep a daily yoga practice because it helps me mentally and gives me a sense of routine and calm and at the same time I sometimes worry that if I stop focusing on advanced poses and progression in yoga I’ll lose the level I worked for and kind of “regress” in my practice.

I’m also curious how other people approach yoga after training for a longer time -

Do you still treat it as a physical challenge and progression or did it become more of a grounding and maintenance practice? How do you balance yoga with other forms of training?

Growing as a follower

I’ve been dancing as a follow for about 4 years and lately I feel a bit stuck. There aren’t really any advanced groups or classes in my city, and I don’t feel like I’m getting that much anymore from intermediate classes either. I still really want to grow and improve as a dancer, I’m just trying to figure out what direction makes the most sense now. Did any of you reach a similar point? What helped you improve the most after regular classes stopped feeling enough? Did you focus more on solo movement and styling, start learning to lead too, take privates, travel more for socials and workshops, or maybe just work more deeply on fundamentals? I’d really like to hear what made the biggest difference for you.
