24 hour dry fast with a long walk
Has anyone been doing the 24 hour dry fast with a long walk? I’ve heard it’s meant to be a good combination. I’m not interested in weight loss though more on the health benefits and autophagy.

how long do you wait to repeat a dry fast, including refeeds? how many days for each fasting day?

Day two: Saturday

It’s been almost 83 hours now, and today was honestly the hardest day so far.
It’s around 30°C today, and for the first time since starting the fast I had to leave the house and spend time outside. The heat is really hitting me hard. My mouth and throat feel extremely dry, and I’m struggling more than I expected.
Right now I’m sitting in a coffee shop with AC, which is helping a lot, but I’ll have to leave later and I honestly don’t know how I’m going to handle the heat if it’s still this intense outside.
Until now the fast has been surprisingly manageable, but today is the first moment where I’m genuinely questioning whether I can keep going comfortably in these conditions.
Hi everyone,
I’m currently on day 3 of a planned dry fast (around 60 hours in out of 7 days), and I’m starting to think ahead about how to properly break it afterwards.
I don’t have access to bone broth and I can’t really make any at the moment. I was considering maybe buying miso soup from a sushi restaurant instead, since miso isn’t easy to find where I live.
I also have sauerkraut at home, and I was thinking of different ways to reintroduce food after the fast.
My rough idea was:
- First, slowly rehydrate over a few hours with water
- Then later maybe have miso soup
- Or alternatively, sauerkraut with a hard-boiled egg
Another option I was considering is just focusing on water for the first day after breaking the fast, and then introducing food the next day (like miso soup, sauerkraut, or eggs).
I also want to stay in ketosis, because I’m planning to start a water fast again about 3 days after breaking this one due to a family event. That’s why I can’t really go straight from a long dry fast into a continuous fast without breaking it in between.
I’ve only done shorter fasts before (3–4 days), and I usually broke them with things like kefir or miso soup, but this will be my first longer one, so I’m not sure what’s best.
If anyone has experience with breaking longer fasts, I’d really appreciate your suggestions or what worked for you. I want to do it as safely and gently as possible.
the first 3 days i didn't even think about it and had no thirst but day 4 was the actual worst. all i could think about was how good a cold bottle of water would taste. i'm worried today and the next 2 days are going to be the same and i don't know how to combat it. i'm not hungry at all but i never get hungry and i'm not craving anything. my biggest hurdle is this issue with wanting water, it's consuming my every thought, even with loads of distractions.
i really want to make it to 7 days to see if what everyone says is true and if the results will be worth it. i've only ever gotten to 5 days in the past, it's my longest dry fast record. so i've never been beyond this point.
is day 7 really as magical as people make it out to be? do you see an obvious difference in your face? because i'ma be real i feel like i don't see any difference in my body or face and it's really demotivating. does it just happen overnight on day 7 or something? or are results not as obvious as you'd think? i'm not weighing myself on a scale so i don't know how much i'm actually losing, i just feel like i visually don't look any different.
I can’t stop myself. I’ve lost all motivation. I’ve turned into a hedonistic pessimist. I drink energy drinks all the time and eat what I want when I want and however much I want. I’ve gained 50lbs in like 6 months. 170-225lbs. I’m 5’10. I used to be in great shape and have a decent outlook on life but something happened (idk what) and now Idgaf anymore. I can’t stress to you guys enough how literal I’m being. Apathy by definition is my experience in life for the last 6 months or so. Everyone sees it. Everyone is wondering and asking “what’s wrong” but I don’t fuckn know. Then of course me being the immature ahole I am…I get snappy with whoever is asking what’s wrong bc it reminds me of the horrible person ive been the past half year as well as reminds me of the fact that i have no idea why im being the way im being. If you strangers knew anything about me the first thing that would come to mind is you would know I have an answer/solution to everything. Not having an answer (especially a logical one) kills me inside. I know WHAT to do but I give up under the slightest stress. Eg Recently I was gonna begin a dry fast for a few days and within like 15 hours I said eff this and drank some coke. I get these random outbursts of motivation and I’m on top of the world but then everything comes crashing down. I legitimately feel hopeless at this point. Best way I can explain it is a midlife crisis but at 25 years old. Existential crisis I suppose. Maybe I should move out. (Yes I live with my g parents still but they said they like me being there. Honestly idk if this is good or bad for me).
I could go into more detail but I fear annoying or running you off. Thanks.
Started this dry fast 3 days ago with the intentions of it healing parts of my skin. I’ve always had flaky or red dry skin in parts that never go away despite always trying something new. I had some inflammation I want to reduce. Dry fasting has given me incredible results for my skin cleansing, and mental clearness in the past. Aiming for a total reset this go around.
I’ve water fasted thousands of hours prior to dry fasting, it’s part of my life now, and when I’m not doing that I eat one meal a day closer to bedtime. I don’t believe in breakfast anymore, or engulfing calories throughout the day (unless around my gf), it’s always a social interaction to eat something. Dry hands down is the easiest for me. I get zero hungry pangs, and no thirst for water.
Day 1: I was coming off some bad carbs, so the carb mental towards the 20-23Hr mark were loud. Day 1s are significantly easier for me dry compared to water.
Day 2: I was able to find distraction to make the day go by quicker. I tend to try and keep my mind occupied on the first few days and go to bed earlier, because they’re the hardest.
Day 3: This day is when all food noise seize, snack, sugar completely dead. That isn’t the battle anymore, the battle is now nausea, keto breath and burping, which is from your body releasing trapped gas. I don’t get dizziness when I dry fast like I do when I water fast. I am still careful to not stand up too fast, and exert my energy wisely.
I expect Day 4 to be easier than 3, realization setting in that is it what it is, ride the wave even though it’s boring. Perhaps a bowel movement this day? Ive been feeling my body trying to come up with more liquids to pass what feels like a number two, so that’s cool!
This is my 3rd fast of 36h, well..going for 40h now, but yea..why am I hungrier than thirsty? That normal? Lost the usual 1.3kg in 36h. I'm coming from a low carb diet or carnivore with some carbs..
Frequently asked questions:
What’s your stats?: I’m 29, female & 5’7
Did you exercise?: no I didn’t.
Was it hard?: no, I didn’t shower for those 9 days but I did wash my face, wash my hands & brush my teeth.
Did you see any results?: yes I did. My stomach got so flat and my SKIN got SOOO clear & smooth. Literally no more acne.
Did you tell anyone?: no I didn’t. Only my fellow redditors.
Any cons during your fast?: YES. Only two.
No matter how many times I put moisturizer on, my skin was DRY and flaky and so itchy. Only on my body though, not my face. And the white tongue and the sticky nasty breath really was annoying lol. Even with a tongue scraper.
What’s your refeed plan?:I currently don’t have one as I’m jumping straight into a water fast. Will be sipping a few ounces every hour for the first two days then will drink water normally after.
How long will you be on your water fast for?: I will be on it until at least May 27 then I’ll figure out a refeed schedule.
I did dry fast before it’s posted on my page and I maintained my dry fast weight for a long time but I started eating my feelings again due to heartache and loss and ballooned up. I ate my last meal on May 7 which consisted of McDonald’s and 2 bottles of water and went cold turkey the next day. My original goal was 9 days which I did but I really wanted to do 14
Days but I have too many events coming up so I let it be. I had support from a fellow redditor to keep me accountable so that was fun.
Probably the best fast I’ve ever been on. thank you all.
Hi guys,
So i am thinking how to postpone the ketoflu which usually starts hiting me around 14 hours in a dry fast. I become lethargic, sleepy, you name it.
If I start the fast at 10:00 pm then usually around 11-12 am the next day I get hit by it. Okay, but usually one has the whole day ahead and need to be active.
So I am thinking if I take around 9 am some honey + coconut oil, would this work to basically reset the clock and start getting into ketosis around 11 pm when one can just go to sleep?
On day 2 usually i dont remember havung keto flu symptoms.
What do you think? Thanks!

Hey everyone! I (33F) started a dry fast yesterday and I’m hoping to make it to 7 days this time. I wanted to share my experience day by day for accountability and to document the journey.
I already have some experience with fasting. I’m Muslim, so I’ve been doing Ramadan fasting for almost 20 years, and I’ve also done several 3–4 day water fasts over the years. I’ve completed two 3–4 day dry fasts before, and this time I’m aiming for 7 days. If I don’t make it, that’s okay, I can always try again later. I’ve also done OMAD for a few months in the past, including dry OMAD occasionally.
I’m mainly doing this for weight loss, but if I can also get some health benefits like improved skin or healing of scars and old wounds, that would be amazing. I’ve heard people say their skin looks better after fasting. I’m also worried about loose skin since I already have some on my arms and stomach. I don’t know whether a 7-day fast will help with that, but we’ll see.
About 3 years ago, I lost a lot of weight through water fasting, OMAD, and regular walking, and I was really happy with my progress. Unfortunately, I went through some difficult situations involving work and relationships, and because I struggle with depression and anxiety, I turned back to food for comfort and gained everything back.
Starting weight: 85.4 kg
Height: 1.56 m
Day 1:
I started on Monday, May 18th at 00:30. I stopped eating about 2 hours before that, but kept drinking water until 00:30.
The day itself was pretty normal, except I was thinking about food A LOT, as usual. To stay motivated, I kept looking at old pictures of myself from when I lost a lot of weight 3 years ago. It actually helped calm the cravings and keep me focused.
I spent most of the day watching videos and playing video games. In the afternoon, I felt very tired and sleepy, but I chose not to nap because I sometimes struggle with insomnia and wanted to try fixing my sleep schedule. I thought being exhausted would help me fall asleep easily at night, but instead I spent almost 4 hours lying in bed unable to sleep, and eventually developed a horrible headache.
Update => Day 2:
Day 2:
I woke up around 10 a.m. even though I couldn’t fall asleep until after 4 a.m. I woke up with a headache again, but thankfully it went away after a few hours.
I weighed myself this morning and I was at 83.8 kg, so that motivated me a bit.
Honestly, I spent the whole day doing basically nothing. I wasn’t really tired, I just had nothing to do, so I spent most of the day scrolling on my phone, watching YouTube videos, playing video games, and hanging out with friends on Discord.
Surprisingly, I didn’t really feel hungry or thirsty today. Everything felt pretty normal overall. I did think about food a few times, but not in a “I need to eat right now” kind of way.
One thing did happen though. I took a shower, and during it I suddenly started feeling really unwell. It was a long shower because I was washing my hair, body, etc., and at some point I felt like I couldn’t breathe properly anymore. I didn’t feel nauseous or dizzy, just… really bad physically and kind of weak all of a sudden, so I decided to stop and get out earlier than planned.
I rinsed my face and body with cold water before leaving the shower, then laid down on my bed. After a few minutes, I started feeling better again. Later on, I did my skincare routine and basically stayed in bed for the rest of the evening.
Right now it’s 3 a.m. and I’m still not sleepy, but I’m going to put my phone down and try to sleep. I’ll update again tomorrow after Day 3.
I just noticed that the verrucas I have had on my feet for years are not there anymore!
There are a few things i have been doing that has probably contributed to my immune system finally getting rid of them.
I have been low carb for about 4 months, not keto, still been eating veg and berries.
I did this as I had some bladder pain I was trying to resolve. I was also taking oregano oil for a few months too, as well as some other supplements.
I have also done four dry fasts this year, 2 x 22 hrs, 1 x 52hrs in Jan/feb and 1 x 30hrs under a week ago.
I’m wondering if the last dry fast did the trick? I’m not sure as I haven’t checked my feet for a while.. but I think the verrucas were still there about a month or so ago.
Anyway! I was really excited to see this positive sign ✌🏻
Dear all,
I have finished a 5 day hard df.
During the fast I already had pain in my stomach but didnt really think much of it. I didnt clean out my stomach before the fast, which might have been the mistake here.
Now after the fast I am still having pain in my stomach and also some obstruction issues. The fast is already mote zhan a week ago.
Does anybody know what this could be and what I could do against it?
In Book One of the ESSENE GOSPEL OF PEACE, it describes Jesus leading a number of sick folks in a fast. But it does not specifically say whether or not water was to be drunk. It did mention a number of symptoms experienced by those fasting, among them urine of some turning thick as honey, that of others almost red or black.
So was this a dry fast?
I’d like to know how people clean their intestines before doing a dry fast, because the times I’ve done it I experienced severe nausea, vomiting, and the urge to throw up
Hi Everyone,
I’ve been diving into dry fasting content and after doing my first 72 hours, I’m pretty excited, inspired, and curious.
Ive had a tendency to go 110% with things which has, at time, led to choices that I’m not particularly proud of, but I chalk them up to learning and growing.
Chronic disease will inspire drastic behavior in the journey to health. I have an autoimmune condition called ankylosing spondylitis and it’s quite possibly been my biggest teacher in this life.
Writing to you now, a bit more mature and measured, I want to be safe and honor my body throughout this healing journey. There’s a lot of positive info out there on dry fasting and some pretty negative stuff as well.
Yesterday I went into a bit of a negative wormhole on YouTube and found many people cautioning against dry fasting for its potential to permanently damage the kidneys. They contend that dry fasting can be particularly insidious because you damage them incrementally and because kidneys are so resilient, we don’t know there’s a problem until it’s too late.
Any experienced, grounded dry fasters out there who have contended with these same concerns? What do you think? Have you had your blood markers measuring kidney function tested over time?
I’ve only completed five 3.5 day dry fasts, so I’m pretty new to the practice.
Would love to hear your experience and opinions on the matter.
Thanks in advance.
