Hibiscus Update

After posting about my plants, I brought them inside and didn't water them since (8 days ago) since they continue to have damp soil. What should I be doing differently?

AIO? Friend from school posted this, I want to stop being her friend because of it

This girl I know from school posted this on her threads account. We are friends and talk often enough. She claims to be rcta or transracial and I've just been shrugging it off but after this I feel like I can't be friends with her. Am I overreacting by wanting to end our friendship? As you can see in the photos she is wearing makeup darker then her skin tone. Would it be an overreaction to stop being her friend over a stupid internet post? I'm not black but this just rubs me the wrong way. I dont want to not be her friend over something silly becUse she is one of the most accepting, kindest people. But this is just too far.

edit: No I am NOT transphobic. like I said I didn't care that she idenfied as black but posting black face is too far Because of the hurtful history behind it!! also she is white French and Irish. Do not use this to be transphobic.

You can check out her threads it's Trinika_lovex0 to see her other crazy posts. No harrassment or bullying pls. She is 100% serious

Are They Dead?

I left Arizona for a couple days (4 ish) to visit my family in a different state, and came back to these. Are they dead, or can I bring them back? If I can, how? The first plant is a hibiscus, can't remember what the second is.

Apparently you can’t be friendly with neighbors anymore

I’m a younger male teacher (29M) and now that it’s summer I’ve started going to my apartment complex’s pool. I’m trying to do babysitting this summer to help make ends meet and when I was at the pool the other day there was a family there with a few kids all elementary school aged. I introduced myself after a wiffle ball nearly hit me. I was just being friendly with the parents and kids and mentioned I was a HS teacher and if they needed babysitting that I’m available. Today, I get a call from HR that the mom filed a complaint about me saying I was being creepy. I came into the office and when I explained everything, the HR people were laughing bc all I was doing was being a friendly neighbor. In no way did I sound creepy from the mom’s complaint or from my point of view. I honestly don’t know if I should put this under humor or rant because while the situation is kind of funny, it pisses me off that a parent thought I was acting creepy.

Are high school students actually this clueless and entitled?

So I am an academic advisor for a pretty big state university in the U.S. and we are currently having orientations. Lately, I have noticed how clueless and entitled freshmen have become. I have had so many orientation students argue with me that they don’t have to take a certain requirement bc they took it in high school. For example, I had a student argue with me that they do not need a specific core class bc they were in band in high school??? Others have said that they should not take a math class bc they took high school math???

Then I get students complaining to me that their AP Credits or dual credits have not been posted to their accounts and when I ask them when they submitted, they do not know and that someone submitted it for them??? I was in high school in 2018 and we had to submit our own stuff. There was someone helping us, but we would be the ones submitting our AP scores, applications, etc.

Talking to them has become like talking to a wall. Oh and my favorites are the ones who use chat gpt to search for EVERYTHING. I had a student who told me that they wanted to switch majors bc chat gpt told them 😑😑

I am working on my EC-6 teacher certification and I have seen how kids behave in elementary school, which is no different than the college students.

How do you guys even manage to stay sane??? Teacher do deserve more respect and money than they currently get.
