Love this quote, wanted to share it:
"Short-term thinking means stepping over dollars to pick up pennies"
"Short-term thinking means stepping over dollars to pick up pennies"
I'm not sure which one it is, but it's only a few pages, no more than three that ends with "I would go there, but I'm afraid of what I might find" Does anyone have an idea of what story this is?
I wanted to let everyone here know what a wonderful group of people Linux users are. I've had windows products since 1991 and last year I transited over to Linux mint and, while I've had some struggles, I've NEVER had the problems for longer than a few hours. Y'all are so generous with your suggestions and help I feel very supported. Thank you again. :)
I'm attempting to send a music file by dragging the music file into chat. It used to work. NOW I get a message "Unable to attach selected file". I just tried to use the '+' button and navigate to the file and it worked. Is this a bug that I can't just drag and drop a file?
EDIT: Solved. per lajawi, I'm on Linux, and due to the recent 'icon missing from the taskbar' problem, I'd installed using a flatpak. I disinstalled the flatpak and installed via software manager and bingo, problem solved. Thank you lajawi! and thank you Chongulator for your help as well. :)
I make a point of never going there often: there's NOTHING to do, no quests, the view points are sparse and all I ever run into is wolves and bobcats. One of the random quests was killing a mercenary... and GUESS where she spawned? bang in the middle of what I consider a 'dead-zone' on the map. Most other places on the map have nearby view points, but western Makedonia and maybe central Euboea don't have easy ways to get there. :( Malaka! Beautiful scenery, but thats about it.
Moderators, can I have a ruling?
Hi,
Signal isn't displaying the tiny system icon in the taskbar and consequently not showing how many messages I'm getting . Is there anyway to restore that capability? what information do you need to help me with the problem?
I'm told that Jackie Gleason sang "Call Me Irresponsible" for the movie "Papa's Delicate Condition" (1962) but the version in the movie is more of a monologue, I can't find a version of him singing the song outright. The album it's supposed to be featured on is "Jackie Gleason - Movie Themes for Lovers Only" which has an instrumental version. Is there a recording of Gleason only actually SINGING the song?

I'm looking for a song by Keni Thomas. The name of the track is "Crimson, White, and Indigo". I can't seem to find it anywhere. Does anyone have an idea of where to find it?
Something I just found from 1956. I couldn't think of a better place to put this.... :)
Hi all, I have a song by Glenn Miller that sounds like it was clipped from a broadcast. The name of the song is "Pinball Paul" and when I look for where it comes from, the answer is 1992, on a released CD. I'd like to know when the actual broadcast was. Can anyone tell me that knows when 'Pinball Paul' was broadcast?
I was on Ft. Huachuca for training one time and suddenly and (seemingly thousands) of other soldiers were cordoned in an area, to get out of the area, we had to show dog tags and ID card. they let us out one by one by showing them. It seemingly didn't matter if you had a stitch of clothes on you, but if you had your ID and tags (and they matched) nothing was seemingly said. If you didn't, that was (apparently) your ass. It was never adequately explained to me what the deal was. Has this ever happened before to anyone else?
Hi all, I'm just starting my quest to go from a Retired Reservist (not drilling) to be an ACTUAL retiree with pay. Is this the place to ask questions/make comments, etc? or can anyone suggest where I can look for that reddit community. 😄
so, I wanted to calculate 90 days from next february. so I plugged in my date, and clicked on another cell and typed =<date cell> + 90 (Step one) then, having gotten "#VALUE!" error, I changed the cell format to 'date' (Step Two) now in step 3 it shows exactly the same error still. What am I doing wrong?
Hi, I've been here long enough to see that there are certain times of the year people retire. But it has NEVER been explained to me (please do simply) why they retire at certain times of the year. I assume it's for a good reason, but it escapes me...
I have a vast amount of .cbr files and I'd like to be able to see the covers.... is there any way to do this?
Hey all, I'm looking for a horror scene that featured a man and a woman. They are in a barn and the woman is a servant or a milkmaid, but she's covered with giant pustules she keeps popping and the pus runs over her skin. She keeps enticing the man to be intimate with her, saying anyone she's been with has been saved somehow from the plague. The implication is that she doesn't know the mechanism saving her and her paramours. I THINK the show is Salem, but I'm not exactly sure, nor do I know what the episode name was. Can anyone help me? It's a really disgusting scene.
I remember driving by it all the time, and by the time I was old enough to go there by myself, it was gone...
Hi! I'm in the Social Services bulding at 744 P street. Is there a cafeteria/eating area inside the Resource building across the street? I thought I'd ask here rather than bothering security across the street. 😄
