Hey everyone,

I'm u/SuperDuperCement, part of the new moderation team for r/alevels.

Our team was recently granted moderation access to this subreddit by the Reddit admins due to the previous lack of active moderation. We understand that many of you are frustrated with how the subreddit was handled previously, especially regarding the impact on exam integrity, and we completely understand those concerns.

Last night. reddit admins made a post here which allowed our team to officially take over moderation duties.

The previous moderation team has now been removed. While we regret the damage caused by the lack of moderation and activity over the past weeks, our team was not responsible for those decisions or the inaction that occurred before we arrived.

As of now, we have temporarily locked down the subreddit while we work on implementing proper subreddit rules, automations, AutoModerator configurations, and moderation systems to better handle situations like these and prevent further exam-related breaches.

Our primary goal moving forward is to ensure that r/alevels remains a safe and reliable space for students. We will be taking a much stricter stance against leaks, exam breaches, and the sharing of locked content, while also working to rebuild the subreddit into a supportive community where students can comfortably ask questions, share resources, discuss subjects, and help each other throughout their A-Level journey.

We kindly ask for your patience and understanding while we get everything set up. Our goal is to rebuild trust in the subreddit and create a safer, properly moderated space for everyone.

Hey everyone,

We will be locking r/IGCSE tonight from 5 PM to 5 AM GMT to prevent the spread of exam leaks on the subreddit during overnight hours.

We sincerely apologise to those of you who use this sub legitimately during these hours. We know this is inconvenient, especially for users across different time zones. However, this is a step we cannot avoid, particularly following the unfortunate Paper 1 incident.
