I’m 36 and after 10 years of investing, I’m surprised by how little I feel anymore

I’m 36 years old and have been investing for more than 10 years. During this journey, I’ve experienced huge gains, painful losses, and even moments where I made mistakes that nearly destroyed my own account. Those experiences completely changed the way I view money and risk.

Years ago, every major move in my portfolio would affect my emotions. A big gain could make me feel overconfident, and a large loss could ruin my mindset for days. Now, I’ve learned that markets can reward you and punish you very quickly, and emotions usually make things worse. This year has been a strong year for my portfolio, my I’m is to retire with $10M by 60

I don’t believe I can predict the market perfectly. I’m not a genius, and I still make mistakes. But after years of studying markets and going through different cycles, I feel like I have developed a better sense of when I should be cautious and when opportunities are worth taking more risk.

Most of my time now is spent researching new industries, companies, and indexes. I still enjoy learning about markets, but sometimes I wonder what the ultimate goal is. When money stops being the main motivation, you start asking yourself different questions.

I’m curious if anyone else here has experienced this. Did achieving your financial goals bring you the satisfaction you expected, or did you eventually become numb to the progres

$PYPL 6800% Return in 1 Day. $300k to $9M

294k $PYPL Calls were bought on Monday, the day before it was announced that Stripe would acquire the company. These were weekly expiry Calls, 5% OTM. The next day, these contracts went up 3000% on average, which is $294k to $9.2M. Coincidence?

My Best Month In 8years

Day trading for 8years. Was really hoping to crack $250k this month but some bad trades this week, and vacation for 3 days kind of put dirt on it. I average about 50-60k a month. But there were many opportunities this month. Hoping it continues. I started off years ago aiming to make $5-10 a day. Quit my $90k/year job after 2 years of consistency. Here we are 6years since quitting my job.

If you had $3.1 million at age 38, would you retire today?

Last week my portfolio crossed $3.1 million.I’m 38 years old and have been investing for 13 years. When I started, I wasn’t trying to get rich. I simply wanted financial freedom for my family. Today I finally reached a number that feels “enough” to me So I’ve decided to retire. Not because I hate working. Not because I think I’ll never make more money. But because time is the one asset I can never buy back. My wife and I plan to travel. I want to spend more time with my family while everyone is still healthy enough to enjoy it.A lot of people here will probably say $3.1M isn’t enough in today’s world.Others will say I’m crazy to walk away when my portfolio could become $5M or even $10M if I keep investing for another decade. Maybe they’re right. But after 13 years in the market, I’ve learned something:At some point, chasing a larger number becomes a habit, not a necessity. I’m not posting this to brag. This account represents thousands of market swings, mistakes, sleepless nights, and lessons learned. My biggest lesson:The goal of money is freedom. If you never use that freedom, what’s the point of having more money? So here’s my question for everyone: Or would you keep working and try to turn it into $10 million? Why? Also have been following this community https://www.facebook.com/groups/683645998403709/?ref=share\_group\_link they do share amazing insights on how you build a solid retirement portfolio and passive income with investing, and if anyone would like to know how i grew mine feel free to reach out would be happy to share..

0DTE update 6/11/26

Soo I let my emotions and greed get the best of me Wednesday entering early and into chop after the hell of a day on Tuesday! But learned my lesson, locked in today and came out with $80k in profits. Took out $50k from my buying power since that’s the limit but over the next two days doing the same to pay off my car which is the reason I started trading 😂 but still up $226k on the month. And looking for a decent day tomorrow. Attached are some of the biggest profits I’ve made so far this month and my Stocktwits account if you still think I’m a bot or something 😂

GOLD CURRENCY

I recently acquired these and curious if I’m better off trying to sell as a set, or break them out individually. I’ve always held on to my stack, but need to recoup some money from the haul that this was included in. Any feedback appreciated.

Success stories 🙂

I’ve been trading for 2 years, and I’d love to read some success stories to stay motivated. I’ve had more wins than losses, but I’m still not where I want to be yet.

BIG MILESTONE FOR ME

Big milestone for me

Big milestone for me

50 years old. 25 years of full-time work. Single income, family of four.

I’ve lived by one rule: save 15% no matter what.

I know it’s common to see people in their 20s or 30s posting about becoming millionaires, but honestly, I’m still proud of achieving this at 50.
It’s been a long road, but I made it.

I started saving in 2000. I moved everything over to Vanguard in 2016, but I wanted to clarify that this was a two-decade process, not a 10-year sprint! 😅

Feel free to reach out would be happy to share what i can
