My son is about to turn 11 and starting 6th grade, would he be ok to ride the Metro a couple stops by himself? He knows how to get to our station (it's easy). Obviously we'd train him the route (which we can't do until the line opens back up in Sep), but idk what's considered ok here?
I didn't grow up somewhere with transit (though I did bike pretty far without my folks since sometime in elementary school). My wife grew up in Tokyo and they have Kindergartners riding solo out there.
Mainly we want him to be able to get to one of his after school/weekend activities which may be difficult for us to take him to due to overlapping schedule with a younger child and work. He does have the kids ride free card, and while we use the metro occasionally, we aren't riding it regularly.
Thought it was neat. Seen them driving around but usually while I was driving too and couldn't get a picture. This time I was on foot and they were at a light.
I rode electric buses on D40 and C51 today, and they were amazing. I've seen them drive by but these were the first time I actually ended up on them. Much smoother, quieter, and definitely quicker. I do drive an EV, so I get it, but it was still great to experience in the form of a bus. I get kind of motion-sick on the normal diesel buses when I'm on them too long (as I did on D80 today), but these I had no issue.
Are these still becoming more common? I saw the rollout was a couple years ago. I obviously don't expect overnight replacement of the whole fleet, but just wanted to give a kudos to Metro as an encouragement for these buses.
PS The screens are fantastic on these buses as well, especially if you're not familiar with the route. Was great watching 3 stops ahead, and it was nice and clear.
Also if Metro staff sees this, shoutout to the C51 bus driver lady that was driving the electric bus Tenleytown direction this afternoon (likely arriving there at approx 4:25pm), super friendly and seemed to be in a great mood, sorry didn't get the bus number.
So I have admittedly never used the red line express shuttle, but I drive occasionally on Wisconsin Ave in the area where the Bus Lane is. The bus lane is full of people parking, whether it's random vehicles, or delivery vehicles, or whoever else wants to use it as a parking space (many with hazards on), and as a result, but buses often don't seem to even use the lane as a result.
I know part of the purple line runs alongside or on the road. Difference is purple line is on rails and can't go around. Is it safe to expect it to get jammed up often?
All them physical games.
Just a bit of interesting information. I reserved a hotel on Chase (Intercontinental Times Square) to use the Edit and bonus credits and the next morning I got a welcome email from IHG and it shows up fully on my IHG app just like I reserved it directly, with preference selection and cancel option right on there. When I did reserve it, I made sure my IHG number was in the reservation page, so that probably helped.
I guess when booking, make sure your hotel account information is input while reserving.
I haven't stayed yet so no review on the actual stay.
They're replacing CCS plugs with NACS plugs on existing units this summer. Unlike the 2 already existing dual plug unit locations in Florida and Connecticut, this is a plug swap out. Very few currently, some in California, and a few in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. But it looks like when you pull up to a location, some bays will be NACS and some will be CCS.
Guess it was kind of inevitable with many vehicles making the change, though I'm a bit surprised it was before VW made an announced change considering EA is VW's baby.
Obviously it's going to be a while before it matters on any scale considering the amount, but it might not be a bad idea to look into getting an adapter if you haven't already. It'd be super annoying to wait in line at an EA when there's an available NACS bay, or you roll up to one of the locations that have been completely converted. I wouldn't be surprised if other brands do this, too.
What is this? Anyone know? 2023 Pro S+ US if it matters.
I've had my Portal for a bit over a year now. I use it regularly at home but my vacations I always end up taking my Switch 2 (also got on release) so I don't have to worry about connectivity issues but also because those involved 15 hour flights or being on a cruise where I don't have a connection.

I don't have Premium so can't use cloud streaming.

I have brought my Portal out when my kids are doing their activities and used it on cell phone hot spot with meh results (played quite a bit of Mass Effect 2 like that).

However I went on a weekend casual road trip a few hours away this past weekend. My current game is Life is Strange: BtS on PlayStation and I also wanted to play the demo of the new Sword Art Online yame so decided to give the Portal a shot at the hotel. My phone was on hotel Wi-Fi and also had hotspot on that my Portal was already configured to connect to (so the connection was Portal -> Phone -> Hotel Wifi -> Internet -> Home. I have to say it ran just as well as sitting on my bed at home. That is, a rare occasional small hiccup but a vast majority of the time it felt the game was running on the console. I played most of the demo, and never got to Life is Strange, but it was a cool experience.
I use Farragut North on occasion and always see the Farragut Crossing directions labeled super well but never really had a purpose to use it.

Today I used it but going the other way (West to North). As I got off the blue line train I looked quite a bit so I'd know where to go but saw absolutely no sign and had to pull out my Google maps to see the 17th Street exit. Of course that's doable for someone that lives here and knows it's just across the park, but it left me wondering, why is this not marked on the West side but is on the North side? And is there any way to get it added to West?
I'm planning to purchase a 4 day park hopper plus, but we're being asked by the agent to choose a first day.

We want to do our first day, Sunday, (using a plus) at a water park, and then go to a main park on our second day, Monday. Is that possible with reserving our first day being Sunday?
I noticed the Maryland side of Wisconsin Ave got fresh new (rush hour?) bus lanes. Think the DC side has any chance? Would help a lot with the buses that take forever because they're stuck in traffic pretty much constantly and having to go around cars parked in the rush hour no parking times. Maybe something like M St in Navy Yard.
What do y'all think? Could help congestion, but it's not like you generally choose when you need to charge on a road trip.
Got this email. Once your account balance is empty, it will no longer reload, and instead will just charge your card directly each session. There will be a $20/hold that will clear upon completion.
Many of the merchants with Paze are on the "Shop Through Chase" page for bonus points. So say if you wanted Omaha Steaks, use Paze for the 10x, but also use Shop Through Chase for additional 5x. Freedom series often give more points than Sapphire on Shop Through Chase, but from my experiences, you can click a Shop Through Chase on the Freedom Unlimited page, and pay with Sapphire (or even gift cards).
I didn't buy anything during that sale, it says $0 spent, yet I have this empty list just chillin' at the top of my Badges page. Obviously Winter Sale 2025 is well over. Is it possible to get rid of it?
