Dual Swing Gate Operator Help

Looking at options for gate operators.

Gate details:

- Commercial grade aluminum fence with dual gates 8' for each gate.

- Residential access, gate will be opened and closed an average of 5 times each day.

- Gate is East facing, there should be plenty of sunlight for a 30 W panel with a backup battery.

- Open to solar and electric options.

Must haves:

- Smartphone/Wifi Control for opening, notifications when opened/closed

- Keypad access for guests, deliveries, and emergency personnel

Fence company recommended Liftmaster electric LA500 setup and adding My Q, but of course I will have to pay for electricity to be run separately. My Q reviews are mixed at best. Considering Ghost Controls operator with solar and battery backup, but open to anything.

Thank you!

Help with Gate & Garage Door Openers

I am having a driveway gate & automatic operator/keypad installed. The gate operator is a LiftMaster LA500 (dual arm). The fence company has suggested a My Q 828LM Internet Gateway for app control of gate. (I may have Ethernet buried with the electricity for the gate operator, but not 100% sure yet.)

Thinking ahead for future needs...my garage door opener is currently 20 years old, so not sure how much longer it will last. It has no wifi control, dip switch remotes/no learn button.

I would like to have a system that will eventually work together with the gate operator and a newer garage door opener. I need to make a decision in the next 2 days or so. Anything I need to consider or look at besides the My Q? The gate company wants almost twice the $ for the My Q gateway if I buy it through them vs buying online. Of course if I buy anything from another retailer, it is on me to install, so I have to keep that in mind for anything I may end up purchasing. (I have looked up the directions for the My Q and don't forsee any issues with me installing it.)

Google Home & Android user, but also love my MacBook, so I'm a hybrid mess. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!

All manufacturer list?

Is there a list here of all manufacturers? I've looked them up online before but if something like that already exists I won't bother.

Portable power station - one or multiple ecosystems?

Regarding portable power stations, have you stayed with just one specific ecosystem or do you have multiple brands?

I recently bought an Ecoflow Delta 2 (1024Wh) & 220W solar panel which I love, but looking to add at least one additional unit because of multiple levels in my home. We frequently lose power when the wind blows because Duke Energy is horrible in keeping trees trimmed. I have neighbors lucky enough to have another power provider and they rarely lose power because that co-op trims trees annually. It's been years since Duke has done that. Unfortunately there is no choice of providers in my state and I'm on the wrong side of the line. 🤬

Pros/Cons

- It can be a PITA to have more than one app, but that's an easy trade off and I'm ok with that.

- I'm not totally convinced it's wise to have all my eggs in one basket/one brand of pps.

- I would be nice for the solar panels to be interchangeable with my existing Ecoflow, but not a requirement.

- PPS must be easy for one person to lift/move.

- Not sure I want to go the whole home automtic generator route because of location of home, propane tank, and breaker access...there would be a lot of trenching involved.

- Cost is not an overall determining factor.

Maximizing credit card rewards

TL, DR....is there a "public database" to look up what code a merchant will use for a charge?

This is a local store, so if I call and ask tomorrow they may not know. I hate that credit card companies won't look up this info for you, because I know that they know. I get it's not in their best financial interest.

I religiously play the credit card points game, cash back bonus categories, etc. Unfortunately I don't have time to apply for a new card to really maximize my rewards, as this is a very significant charge. I knew it was coming, but I was under the impression I would not be able to pay with credit without a huge merchant fee due to the amount, which would wipe out any real savings. APR, balance transfer, etc. is not a concern for me...the cash exists to immediately pay off the charge.

Thank you!

Does anything IR work?

I've taken Add IR since 2010. I only had one increase in that 16 year time span, and do not want to go higher than 30 mg (current rx).

I took 15 mg this afternoon and immediately took a nap. I slept for at least 10 hours last night and ready to go back to sleep now. I go back to the doctor soon and I really want to change to a new medication... something besides Add!! Does any stimulant IR medicine work anymore? The fatigue is killing me.

Discussion about product acceptance...

I struggled with a flair for this one. I had skincare, because it's not humor, but now I've changed it back to discussion. Hopefully it won't be denied from mods. 🤞🏽

Within the last 5 years or so, there has been a shift from "That's made in China, don't put it on your skin!" to now you can't even get down the Dollar Tree skincare aisle because everyone is looking for the newest item!

What do you think is the reason for the change in mindset? Economy? Are people realizing the more well known companies may not always manufacturer in the US, or import some ingredients? A "can't beat em, so join em" mindset? Something else? I don't think there is just one right answer, but I'm curious to know what other people think.

Progesterone Question

Does anybody still feel negative side effects from vaginal progesterone use? If so, I'd love to know your experiences. Thanks!

I'm trying to determine whether the dizziness I have is due to vertigo I experience often or if it correlates to vaginal use. Obviously it is still less than taking the progesterone orally, but I do not need anymore negative side effects considering I already experience vertigo and am being medicated for depression.

I'm not a fan of taking it orally as prescribed, and my doctor was not on board with vaginal use. The vertigo, depression, and bloating keep me from using it for more than a few days, so if it gets better I can't ever get past the initial roadblock. I'm ready to give up my estrogen patches even though I feel better with them than without. I do not want an IUD, and the combination patches are expensive even with insurance or lower cost pharmacies.

90 days of Alvogen & new appointment 🫣

Warning if you have problems swallowing larger pills, you might want to avoid Alvogen 10 mg IR. They are twice as thick as any Add. I have ever taken in the past. I haven't had an issue swallowing unless it's a huge pill, like a multivitamin or calcium, but this took me by surprise today. Ugh...just another manufacturer for me to think about adding to the list. I sure do miss the good ol days.

I will have a doctor's appointment in the next month or so. Last year he denied me moving to a new medicine, but did increase the amount which has helped slightly. I'll probably ask again but I'm not holding my breath.

Rx Outreach?

Question for those of you who have ordered your t gel through Rx Outreach....

I have uploaded my license through their portal to verify my account. They are saying they didn't get it, even though I got a confirmation message and want me to email it. Their email is not encrypted, so it is not HIPPA compliant. How did you get your license to upload successfully?

Waterspots?

I have what looks like waterspots on my outdoor camera lenses. All of the cameras are mounted under the porch, deck, window seals, or eaves of the house. They don't receive direct water contact, but obviously still exposed to moisture.

This only affects night vision and the camera views during the day are fine. I haven't sprayed anything directly on the cameras for cleaning. Wiping the lense area with a dry cloth hasn't helped lessen or remove the spots. Does anyone else have this issue, and if so what helps?

Thank you!

Aluminum Fence Commercial vs Residential

I'm very much leaning towards aluminum fencing (over black chain link) to enclose my yard. I know this is going to be a big chunk of change but I'm ok with that.

Anybody have good info on the thickness of the pickets and overall fence strength for commercial vs. residential grade aluminum? Is it really worth the price difference? Fence will probably be bought at a place that specializes in fence sales and not a big box store, if that matters.

Please be gentle with your response if these are dumb questions, I do not know a thing about fences. Thanks!

Year doesn't update correctly

I have a column with dates that I copied from another source that are listed as month and day (August 18, September 7, October 16, November 24, December 14, December 19, etc.). I know how to format those dates to mm/dd/yy using the FORMAT--NUMBER--DATE function.

The rest of the dates (January 18, January 31, March 20, June 23, etc.) still show as 2026 and don't automatically convert to 2027. How do I get the dates to update the year automatically?

Thank you in advance!
