Technics SL1200 to Panasonic SA-HE100 receiver, sound only comes out of left speaker unless I use a splitter in between

Not sure what the issue is here, it's not the tonearm. When I use a splitter in between the problem is "solved" but obviously not ideal. My receiver has a dedicated phono input. Ive also had the same issue connecting an old TV with RCA outputs into this receiver. Do I need to buy a phono preamp? Sorry I'm pretty new to this hobby.

edit to add: I have the same issue with sound only coming out of one speaker when I plug it into the CD input of the receiver. so this tells me the issue may be with the turntable...

My setup so far

Can you guess my favourite band lol.. scored a technics SL 1200 MK2 to go with my Panasonic SA-HE100 receiver, a Wiim-mini, and a Syitren portable hifi CD player with optical out that's pretty good. I have this Akai tape player but it needs new rubber belts. The speakers im not sure of where theyre from, no logo or serial number on them but they used to be my parents' and sound really good. I have a better record storage box coming, I'm propping the good ones up with unplayable used records for now.

It's kind of an awkward room that needs to triple as my desk area, spare bedroom and art supplies room so unfortunately I don't have more space to move the speakers apart but they're about the same distance from each other as they are from my listening spot at least.

Is this enough clearance space for my AV receiver? It gives off some heat after an hour of listening

Should I just move it next to my record player? (Holding off until I get two replacement feet for my turntable, currently the back two are sitting on a bunch of rubber coasters to keep it even).

TCH 2013 england repress - not very dynamic range?

I bought the 2013 repress made in England, and I don't have the pops that other people have reported but I find the range isn't very dynamic at all compared to the CD. It's a bummer.

I know it's not my cartridge because their other albums sound great, but this one isn't good. Has anyone else purchased the same version and found the same thing ?

Newly installed cartridge, arm moving gently back and forth when playing record

Just installed a new headshell and cartridge, did all the calibrating but when I play this record I notice the tonearm moves a little bit back and forth towards and away from the spindle. Is this a bad pressing or does it look like an issue with my installation? I played a vintage 70s record that didn't seem to do this, this is a new pressing with a tight spindle hole.

update: after testing with other records including the red vinyl edition of this album, problem is the record pressing, it's off center, like everyone's said. thankfully I bought the limited edition red vinyl version of this album too but kinda bummed where this black version was supposed to be the one id actually use. gonna take it back to the record store maybe.

Fitting Ortofon 2m red cartridge on a vintage Technics headshell with metal underplate

I'd like to install an Ortofon 2M red cartridge on my vintage Technics turntable. It has a Technics SH98 headshell which comes with a panel underneath where the two screws go in, rather than a flat headshell. The cartridge should fit but I'm worried it will be tight and I won't get enough overhang, not sure though. This is my first time replacing a cartridge on my first turntable. Any tips would be appreciated-- should I just get a new headshell too?

Using kind of thin fabric from Amazon, will this fall apart?

I'm working on this pattern by Grimbroidery with some linen fabric I got from Amazon. Ive only ever done embroidery kits before, and now I'm realizing maybe this fabric isn't dense enough and my worry is that the water soluable stabilizer is doing all the heavy lifting and when it washes off, it's all going to become warped. I guess this was a good practice piece of that's the case 😭 what do you guys think?

First LP of Canadian version of the Inferno black vinyl--really tight on the spindle

Just wondering if any fellow Canadians who purchased the black LP set locally found that the first LP is super tight on the spindle, where I have to really wiggle it off carefully. It's gotten better after a few plays but still have to be careful, I started playing it just now and noticed the arm of my player moving up and down noticeably and turned out the record wasn't pushed down all the way. The second record isn't nearly as tight.

I'd like the fidelity on these records to last as long as possible, I bought the black version for playing! I do find the sound on vinyl warmer than the CD version but then I may not have the best CD player (am using a DVD player without optical out).

What's going on with my pores? Is this dehydration, irritation or just aging?

My skin has felt more dry lately, I've been using SPF religiously since I was 22 (am 42 now) but I recently have noticed this skin texture. I always had been blessed with small pores but this is fairly new. A gentle moisturizer helps smooth it out. The only skin product I use is a nightly moisturizer with 10% urea that I've been using since I was in my 20s.

My New Physical Media Haven

I'm getting isolation feet for the speakers soon.

Was very lucky to inherit some great equipment. I haven't tried the tape player or the cd player yet but the Technics SL 1200 is amazing.

Recently I've noticed that pictures I take of myself with my phone show a lot of texture on my lower face that I'm not used to seeing. I notice it more in the mirror too but maybe only because the pictures are making me more aware of it. I don't have real jowls yet (I think) but I'm worried this texture is the start of them. I'm 42 years old with dry skin type. i know new cameras use AI to bring out details more these days. I had a really old phone before this one, from circa 2019 and I miss it a bit haha.
