MM SFR recs from Kaje Harper

I love Kaje Harper’s writing so when I saw her respond to a request on the book of faces for MM SFR “no tentacles or tails” with a list of her favourites I immediately grabbed the list so I could check them out. I thought instead of looking these up individually on romance.io I could post here and call the bot so we all could benefit. Of the list I’ve only read Dark Space by Lisa Henry and A Solid Core of Alpha by Amy Lane and both were really great.

This is straight from Kaje Harper’s response - I just added the formatting to call the bot.

{Chaos Station by Jensen and Burke} - great angsty second-chances SciFi space/aliens/conflict romance with damaged MCs and good plots, tentative HFN book endings, HEA series.

{Gravitational Attraction by Angel Martinez} - space adventure romance, reminds me of the Dorsai,

{Bone Rider by J. Fally} - think a big-screen blockbuster adventure/sciFi/Mafia/romance with three MCs, one of them an incorporeal alien - surprisingly sweet and also hot

{Knight Errant by KD Sarge} - space opera with a very likable young MC with a past and a lot of attitude.

{Dark Edge of Honor by Aleksandr Voinov} - enemies to lovers spy/rebellion/aliens (Or his "Incursion")

{Letters to an Android by Wendy Rathbone} - lyrical space travellogue and android low-key slavery mix

{Taking Shield by Anna Butler} - sweeping space opera with a very slow burn romance, and dramatic but HFN-ish ending.

{The Interscission Project by Arshad Ahsanuddin} - space project, alternate timelines, multiple gay romance lines.

{Tap-Dancing the Minefields by Lyn Gala}

{Tea at the End of the World by Atom Yang} - meteor strike

{Mnevermind series by Jordan Castillo Price} - near future dreaming-to-order

{Dark Space by Lisa Henry} - mind-melding, aliens, emotional forced-proximity romance

{A Solid Core of Alpha Amy Lane} - darker topics (abuse content)

{Sarge by Bey Deckard} and {Murphy by Bey Deckard} - military, aliens, corporate wrongdoing

Saw this in Nebraska U.S

saw this smallish bird with striking dot pattern in a park in nebraska. 8.5oz redbull can for scale.

flew away before i thought to grab a picture. drew it from memory as best i could.

edit: so far from the suggestions below, the closet thing seems to be a common starling.

Moving day is fast approaching and I’m not ready

I started decluttering a couple years ago partly in anticipation of moving. We’re now a couple months out from the move and still not done. 😬

Looking back at how much we’ve gotten rid of I keep telling myself it would be *so much worse* without all the decluttering (which is absolutely true). But I can’t believe how much is left!

I guess I had this vision that I’d be done decluttering by now and I’d know exactly what we still own. And instead there’s still some mystery piles and categories I still haven’t decluttered as well as stuff my partner still needs to go through. Oh yeah and I also found out we have to have a full inventory of goods (like with serial numbers). I’ve had to unpack some boxes that were already packed and do a detailed inventory on the contents and there are so many left that got packed and not truly inventoried. Aaaaaaa.

I guess I just had this vision of a calm, controlled move and now I think it’s probably going to be chaos again. 🫠

I think I have these all IDed right:

  1. Hot Wheels 1974 Redline Geoffrey Van
  2. Hot Wheels 1970 Redline Red Strip Teaser w/ engine
  3. Hot Wheels 1969 Redline Maxi Taxi
  4. Hot Wheels 1973 Redline American Hauler
  5. Hot Wheels 1970 Redline Blue Strip Teaser (missing engine)
  6. Hot Wheels 1970 Redline Jet Threat Purple / Plum w/ Flames
  7. Hot Wheels 1970 Redline Rocket-Bye-Baby
  8. Hot Wheels 1969 Redline Shelby Turbine Red

And then a whole bunch more (photos 5-6) which I will probably donate. I found a few of the original cards in the bottom of the box, too, including the one for the Redline Geoffrey Van.

Aaaand there went the rest of my weekend.

It is true that your declutterring muscles get better the longer you spend decluttering though. I don’t think I could have handled dealing with letters from long deceased relatives, childhood toys, old diplomas and even more old photos back when I started.

The decisions were pretty easy this time though. I spent the most time figuring out if anything was worth selling instead of donating or throwing out and shredding old photos.

Not sure if this is a “success story” but there wasn’t an “oh no” flair available.

It was another good declutterring week culminating with another successful Buy Nothing day. I love when the big stuff goes first. And I didn’t even have to block anyone this week. We got rid of some big furniture mid-week to people we know, too.

Y’all we are getting to the bottom of our 2 year long declutter project. I feel like if we had to move in the next two weeks we could actually manage it. Would I love to make another pass through everything? Sure. But at this point most of it’s in boxes so we won’t be seeing it again until after we move.

Having said that we’ve been through everything at least once and some categories two or three times. And we’ve gotten rid of probably 2/3 of our stuff. It’s such a great feeling! We’ve got a few boxes left to go through and then I need to finish scanning in and shredding photos and old files but that’s about it.

EDIT: Since I’ve gotten several questions on this - Buy Nothing groups are online FB groups based on location where people give things away for free. A Buy Nothing day is a day where I listed a bunch of stuff on my local Buy Nothing group.
