Programmatic vs Meta Ads — Which should I choose as a specialization?

Hi all,

I'm currently working at a digital marketing agency in India and I'm transitioning from SEO into performance marketing.

My agency is currently training people for different performance-marketing teams, and I have to choose one specialization/team to enter:

  • Programmatic Advertising

  • Meta Ads / Paid Social

I'm leaning toward programmatic because it seems more specialized and technical, but I'm concerned about the smaller number of entry-level opportunities compared with Meta and more ai automation.

I'd love advice from people working in either field:

  1. Is programmatic a good career choice long-term?

  2. If you could choose only one today, would you pick programmatic or Meta? Why?

  3. How good are the salary and growth opportunities in programmatic?

  4. Is it difficult to enter programmatic without prior experience?

  5. How much of the job is actual optimization/strategy vs trafficking, reporting and operations?

  6. How vulnerable is programmatic to AI and DSP automation?

  7. Are DV360/CM360/TTD skills transferable between companies?

  8. If I start with Meta, can I transition into programmatic later, and vice versa?

  9. Which one gives better opportunities to eventually move into media planning, analytics or growth marketing?

I'm looking for honest opinions from people actually working in these fields, especially anyone who has experience with both.

Thanks!

What salary should I aim for before getting married?

I'm 27M, living in Noida, and I'm thinking of getting married around 30. I'd like to get some honest opinions, especially from people who are already married.

Some context:

I'm from a family of 3.

- We have our own house, so there won't be any rent/EMI for the family home.

- My mom currently works but will retire in around 5 years.

- I would like to continue supporting my parents after marriage.

- Ideally, my future wife will also be working and earning, so I'm not expecting to be the sole breadwinner.

- I'm not looking for an extravagant lifestyle. I'd like to be comfortable, save/invest, travel occasionally and eventually be able to plan for children without constantly worrying about money.

- I also want to be financially independent rather than relying on my parents.

So my question is specifically:

What individual salary would you consider a reasonable minimum for a 27–30 year old guy in Noida to get married, assuming his future wife is also earning?

I'm looking for realistic opinions from people who have actually been through it, rather than generic "money doesn't matter" or "you need ₹50L+" answers. 😅

Looking to connect with fellow Pahadis

I’m originally from Almora, but I was born and brought up in Delhi.

I’ve always been passionate about my Pahadi roots and culture, but lately I’ve been feeling even more connected to it. One thing I do regret is that I never really learned to speak my native language fluently. But I’m making an effort now and slowly trying to learn it.

I genuinely want to experience more of our culture go to Kauthiks, Pahadi concerts, cultural events, local functions, listen to Pahadi music, meet people from the community, and just enjoy that feeling of being connected to where we come from.

The problem is, most of my Pahadi friends in Delhi aren’t really interested in any of this. 😅 A lot of them have become quite disconnected from the culture and don’t even listen to Pahadi songs anymore.

And honestly, it feels a little heartbreaking.

We obviously can’t control where we were born or whether we grew up in the hills or cities. But I feel that not making even a little effort to stay connected with our culture is something we can change.

I’m not saying everyone has to live traditionally or give up their modern lifestyle. I just think there’s something beautiful about keeping a small part of our roots alive while living in a city.

So I’d genuinely love to connect with like-minded Pahadis around Delhi/NCR who feel the same way.

If you’re someone who wants to attend Kauthiks, concerts, cultural events, explore Pahadi food/music, or simply hang out and talk, feel free to drop a comment or DM. Would love to make some new Pahadi friends! ❤️🏔️

I really need some career advice.

I transitioned from SEO to Performance Marketing because that's what I wanted to build my career in. I even took a pay cut to join an MNC because I was promised that after 2 months of training, I'd spend 6–12 months on side projects and then move to the media team.

Fast forward 1.5 years, and I'm still stuck on the same non-media project.

I even cleared an internal interview with the media project head, who said my fundamentals were solid and that I was ready to work on campaigns. But after that... nothing. The group head still hasn't moved me.

The worst part is that when I apply elsewhere, I keep getting rejected because I don't have hands-on experience managing live ad budgets. But how am I supposed to gain that experience if no one gives me the opportunity?

I'm honestly frustrated and feel stuck.

If anyone in can help me (Indian preffered) get practical exposure whether through a personal brand, freelance work, or even unpaid collaboration, I'd be incredibly grateful. I just want to learn and work on real campaigns.

What are your views on Garhwali/Kumaoni boys and girls marrying outside Uttarakhand if they genuinely love each other?

I'm from Almora, and I've been thinking about this a lot lately.

I understand the importance of preserving our culture, language, traditions, kul devta customs, and identity. At the same time, people sometimes fall in love with someone from a different state or community.

For those of you from Uttarakhand especially Garhwalis and Kumaonis what are your honest views on marrying outside our culture?

Would you support it if the couple genuinely loved each other and respected one another?

Do you think it affects the preservation of our culture and traditions?

Would your opinion change if the partner was willing to learn our customs, festivals, language, and participate in family traditions?

If you've personally experienced or seen such a marriage, how did it turn out?

I'm looking for honest opinions from all perspectives, whether you support it or oppose it. Please keep the discussion respectful.

Should I transition from Marketing to Data Analytics for better long-term salary growth?

Hi everyone,

I'm 27 years old and currently working in digital/performance marketing. While I enjoy certain aspects of marketing, I've become increasingly concerned about the pace of salary growth in this field, especially in India.

My long-term goal is fairly straightforward: I want to build a career that can realistically lead to high-paying opportunities over the next 5-10 years.

Looking around, it seems like Data Analytics has stronger earning potential and is a more technical skill set that may be valued across industries.

The problem is that I don't know if I'm looking at this the right way or just suffering from "grass is greener" syndrome.

A few questions I'd genuinely appreciate advice on:

Is Data Analytics actually a good field to enter in 2026 from a salary and career growth perspective?

Has anyone here transitioned from Marketing to Data Analytics? How difficult was it?

Would my marketing background be an advantage in analytics, or would I essentially be starting from scratch?

What skills should I focus on first (SQL, Excel, Python, Power BI, Statistics, etc.)?

How long does it realistically take to become employable if I'm learning while working full-time?

Are there other career paths you would recommend instead for someone looking for stronger compensation growth?

I'm not expecting overnight success and I'm willing to put in the work. I'm just trying to avoid spending the next 1-2 years learning something that may not be the best move.

I'd really appreciate honest feedback from people working in marketing, analytics, data science, or anyone who has made a similar career transition.

Thanks in advance.
