My dad owns a car registered in California where his vacation home is. He doesn’t live there year round, and resides out of state when not there. He’s looking to sell that car and is asking if that requires his presence in CA or if it can be handed remotely/via distance (I and some of his friends live in CA so he’s asking if it’s possible for me or one of them to help with that process if possible but I want to make sure I wouldn’t accidentally technically be title jumping or something by doing the legwork).

I assume he’d just want it sold to one of the dealerships in his town that do cash offers for ease reasons. So is it feasible/legal for him to be sent the title, sign the relevant spots, then mail it back to CA and have someone actually take the car to the buyer, or would he specifically need to be present physically rather than someone else taking the car over and mailing him his check or whatever?

I’ve applied to an apartment and their processing my app, but need to verify income, so they sent an email asking me to send my last 3 paystubs. I’ve got a bit of OCD anxiety with regard to personal info security and am new to rental apps, so I just wanted to check for reassurance if this is safe to send over email (they don’t have any SSNs or DOBs, just name and address, and an employee ID.

Anyone have experience living close to the 101? Toured an apartment that checks my boxes, but is like right across the street from the freeway, which I’ve heard is not ideal for living situations. So if anyone’s been that close, were there any issues air quality or noise wise?

I took an uber ride last night that I had scheduled/reserved for just over $170. The payment for that fare was charged earlier in the day. Took the trip (point A to point B no stops or shenanigans) This morning I get a notification about a failed payment because Uber tried to process a just over $107 “adjustment” for this trip to bring the fee up to 279. I wasn’t expecting this purchase so I didn’t have the money on the card.

I did the support chat on the app, and the first person was not helpful as they were just telling me that the fee wasn’t yet paid. I was aware of that but was trying to figure out what the fee was for.

The second person I talked to said they can’t see what it’s for, just that it’s an adjustment fee, and that they’ll escalate it, and to watch for an email which I still haven’t received.

Has anyone had something like this happen? Did you find out what the deal was?

Edit: There wasn’t an unforeseen traffic delay either. The trip was shorter than expected, and after the ride the fare came out cheaper than the reserved price, and I was refunded 19 cents as a result. The big unspecified adjustment in question came the following day.

I’m planning a week long trip for mid October, during which I’m planning to post up in a single city/town and spend my time wandering around, going to cafes, going to pubs, listening to trad music, and chatting with strangers, and just kind of moseying about, maybe a little partying here and there.

I’ve had both Galway and Sligo recommended to me by friends (some international tourists, some Irish) as pleasant towns to chill out in, I was wondering if anyone with knowledge of both had any input on which might be better suited to a week of disconnecting from my life in the US for a few days.

I’m looking at spending a week in Ireland as it’s been highly recommended by fellow tourists as well as Irish folk I know, and I’m trying to decide where to stay? For context, when I travel I’m not much of an itinerary/sightseeing tourist as that stresses me out. I usually find a city/town to plant myself in and spend time going to cafes, pubs/bars, trad sessions, bookshops, chatting with strangers, basically doing what I do in my days off but in a new place. I’m just wondering if anyone has any recs for a place that might be a particularly scenic/pleasant locale to do that. I suppose the fewer tourists the better (not in a holier than thou way, just figure it’s more interesting to be somewhere lowkey). Vague request, so apologies for the odd question.

In the mood to spend my next day off wandering around an area popping into cafes, vintage stores, and cute boutiques. If that’s your thing, have any particular neighborhoods served exceptionally well for such a purpose?

Anyone have any leads on the type of place one could work on the weekends for extra income (maybe unskilled labor or retail)? I have my M-F 9-5 spoken for, but am hoping to increase my monthly take home. Maybe something locally-owned rather than chain/corporate as I assume that’d be more amenable to a non-standard schedule, but open to considering whatever’s available. Already perusing Craigslist but posting here in case any of y’all have heard of anywhere hiring.

I love American traditional tattoos and patchwork sleeves and all that, but I feel like I have a hard time finding enough pieces to say that I can confidently finish my sleeves. Like I’ll find someone whose style/shading is great, but only does like OG flash designs; I like a lot of those (got a panther and a dragon already spoken for) but unfortunately I don’t dig skulls, scorpions, pinups, and some of the other usual suspects. Other times I’ll find artists whose designs I like but the style or colors or shading aren’t quite there. Basically I’m just worried that as I move down my arms at some point I’ll just be getting things for the sake of getting things instead of digging the piece itself. I don’t know maybe I’m too nitpicky. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
