I am between these two. Honestly, I think OT is a better fit job duty wise and low stress but the cost of these programs vs the salary is ridiculous... i cant afford it. I am almost 29, still paying off undergrad debt. I know COTA is an option but in my area there are pretty much no jobs and they only make 50,000. I cant survive on that.

I don't think i would hate being a nurse but the stress and high patient volume is what worries me.. and math.. but im sure i could practice that. I think being an outpatient nurse or a lower patient ratio specialty would be a better fit for me.. hospice, L&D, mother baby, endocrine outpatient.

Any advice from anyone in these careers? Especially regarding nursing stress and getting a lower stress nursing job.

Feeling VERY overwhelmed with all the info out there. I have type one diabetes AND PCOS. I will soon to be trying to convivence so accuracy is very important to me. I will would like to track fitness but I am trying to really balance my hormones and use the data to help improve my health overall AND get pregnant in the last year. I will be using a wellness card so price isnt a worry. I kinda hate that oura makes you use a prescription when it's so expensive.

Would love insight from others with PCOS and metabolic issues. I really need to make some changes to get as healthy and balanced as possible for my future babies.

I’ve always gone back and forth on if I want to be a nurse. I’ve also considered OT. In my current area the only options for occupational therapy are COTA or MOT and the MOT is 3 years ft. The local nursing programs are ABSN (1 yr), traditional BSN, LPN. More flexible. OT is less stress and super creative which I love. OTA put simply isnt enough money… a lot of career tests say OT/SLP for me and nursing is more toward the bottom, probably bc of low stress.

Nursing makes me nervous because of high stress, I honestly suck at math and science, being exposed to certain pathogens freaks me out a bit.

I work in marketing and I have always loved the idea of working in healthcare, but I think I’ve been pushed away from it because I’m just not great at school. I want to feel more fulfilled, the specialties such as psych, L&D, NICU, Mother/Baby, hospice, and diabetes education very much appeal to me.

If I don’t want to be med surg and only have interest in specialities or even outpatient, would that make me a “bad nurse”?

I’ve also had a lot of interest in SLP as well but they make these programs so hard for people who still have to work.

I’m a creative, caring person. I want to feel fulfilled and don’t know what route to take.
