V for Victory - Soviets vs UKs

A nice match of V for Victory (ww2 skirmish game from Studio Tomahawk) in Lyon, where a bunch of Commandos faced à big bunch of Soviet assaulters.

The two, bigger squads armed of PPSh annihilated the smaller British élites one After the others, with the sniper having an astonishing death toll.

In the end, the Commandos managed to gain the day by a single point thanks to their flexibility, managing to capture the points and pinning the squads with their MMG.

Honestly, a very smooth and funny system.

Chance of new plastic Soviet releases?

I was about to buy some Soviet add-on (HQ, support weapons, tank riders and a zis-3), which are currently in metal.

Do you think it could be possible that they'll be released in plastic in the near future?

Next gang: Magyars or Celts?

Hey hey pillagers, I'm finishing my main warband of Byzantines/Late Romans and I'm wondering what to do next.

I'm fascinated by two options: a only-cavarly nomad (Magyars/Hun) and a Celtic (Scots/Irish/Welsh) warband.

Playing: What are your feelings about them? At first sight, I kind have the doubt that the first is fun but too fragile as you're gonna have not so many bodies, while the second kinda lacks options apart fielding a mass of spear-wielding hobos.

Minis: I'm squashing a bunch of factions together as I'm lacking money and space to have many different armies so I was wondering how accessible are the two single ones.

I've already victrix light horse archers for my saga Persians and I was thinking to buy some heavy cav that could work as Bök and as nomadic/Persian cataphracts. Otherwise, I was wondering if there are sets that could work as infantry for all the different Celtic factions.

Cheers

Byzantines/Last Romans tactics and tips?

Hello to everyone.
After some demos with friends' Vikings and Anglo-Saxons, I'm starting a Byzantine/Last Romans warband.

I was thinking of a core of FA soldiers (50-50 hand weapons and spears) supported by pikes, with three archers and a pair of cataphracts for the Byzzies, supported by a berserker and a pair of huscarls.

While I've not yet a list for the LR, maybe try to exploit the hasta bonus as much as possible.

What are your experiences or strategic thoughts on these factions?

Condottieri - strategy & tactics

Hey there, I recently had a match with my Condottieri (Milan) vs Burgundy and the defeat made me rethink my strategy.

I fielded:

Hero (mounted, barded), 1,5 pt HG (mounted, barded), 1 pt warriors, 1 pt warriors (pavese), 1 pt levies (crossbow), 0,5 pt Cannon (mercenary). I chose the Milan subfaction for having a stronger HG which counts always as disciplined.

I managed to bottleneck my opponent between the terrains, trying to rout his front units with HG charges while hitting with the cannon and the crossbows. Problem is that I didn't manage to hit hard enough and my HGs ended up being and anvil instead of a hammer.

I think my main mistakes were putting too much importance on them and relying on the cannon which in the end is way to aleatory and ended up just giving fatigue tokens around.

For the next matches I was wondering how to change my list:

  1. removing the crossbowmen, using two cannons to spread fatigue tokens around, bringing the HG to 4 and in place deploying a unit of mounted warriors. Subfaction Venice for the free determination rule to give to one of the artillery.

  2. removing the Cannon altogether and in place deploying a more hard-hitting melee mercenary force, eventually shifting to Romans or Florentines for dice bonuses.

Cheers, every suggestions is welcome!

Hi everyone, at my local club, I've seen some miniatures for the games indicated in the title.
Have you tried them? What's your opinion on them?

Cheers
