Wild Boar (revisit)

I posted the boar mark by itself on another account a while back and wanted to develop it into more of a full identity.

This is a fictional brewery concept inspired by a friend from Arkansas who lives in Texas now and has always wanted to start a brewery. The direction is inspired by the Arkansas Razorbacks, with the goal of giving it a modern heraldry feel.

I’ve been experimenting with different lockups, patterns, and packaging to see how the identity could come together.

Still a work in progress, so I’d really appreciate any feedback on what’s working, what isn’t, or what you’d push further. Thanks for taking a look!

Hideaway logomark v2

Thanks for the feedback! I made a few edits to my previous version to try to make both H and waves elements read better. I settled on Henderson as the main typeface and so i manipulated the mark to fit with the letterforms better (i’ll create a lockup soon). Outer container shape is the same thickness as the waves. Better?

Hideaway logomark

Hideaway is a small Airbnb community on the lake with fishing piers, canoes, and some great spots to swim.

The goal with the logo was to come up with something that felt peaceful and had a connection to the lake/pier, while keeping it simple enough to work well on merch, signage, digital, and print.

Would love to get some fresh eyes on it. What’s working, what isn’t, or what would you change?

For legal reasons, this is totally not a redesign of the gas station beaver mascot.

Just having some fun with this guy and seeing if I could clean him up a little. Does he look deranged? The eyes were difficult.

Taqueria logo v3

For the most part, I think extremely literal logos feel amateur. But there are a few instances where they absolutely can work and become iconic - Target, Apple, and Shell. I'm not lumping this one in with those master works. But the other instances are intentionally humorous or odd logos. They can help strengthen the personality of the brand. Either way, here's the final version of this logo.

I want to thank u/the_sylince for the idea of using taco shapes for the leaves. You got downvoted for some reason, but I think the idea is great! Hope you enjoy it!

Taqueria v2

Well... The last one looked like a butthole. I think the color scheme definitely played a part. This is all part of design and getting mass feedback. Sometimes you make buttholes...and it's ok. You just try again and make a slightly less butthole design... and on and on... thanks for the feedback!!! I almost deleted the last one but I won't. It's ok to show your missteps.

Taqueria logo

I know, I know, there’s a bazillion palm tree logos out there. But I think the geometry of the tree and the containing “sun” shape is interesting. This isn’t an official project - just a personal project. I love tacos and logo design.

Houston Astros Wordmark - Last Edit

Thank to everyone who commented on the last two versions of this. I enjoyed reading every comment - the critiques were helpful! At the risk of you all growing tired of seeing it, this will be the last iteration. I reworked the R and tweaked the other letters some. I just wasn't happy with it. I think this version reads much better. I'm really digging the gradient and the slight slant. I'd love to hear your feedback on it.

Houston Astros wordmark exploration

Does it read ASTROS? I tightened everything up to make the flying ball effect look better but I want to make sure it’s still legible. When I focus on the A S gap, feels like too much space - but when I look at it altogether, it seems ok. Would love feedback. EDIT: See update.

Ice/Water icon design

I designed this icon for a commercial ice and water dispenser. I wanted to try combining both ideas into a single mark. The challenge was getting both ideas to coexist without making the icon feel overly complicated. I wanted it to feel simple, functional, and appropriate for a commercial product. Interested to hear whether the ice/water connection comes through at first glance.

Every industry must retire one logo cliché.

Every industry has to permanently retire one logo cliché.

Dentists lose the tooth. Realtors lose the roofline. Coffee shops lose the bean. Photographers lose the camera aperture.

Which industry suffers the most?

Tough Genes logo

Completed and launched this identity for Tough Genes, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by parents of a child with IRF2BPL-Related Disorder.

The organization raises awareness and funds research to advance understanding of IRF2BPL and ultimately improve treatment and quality of life for those affected.

The mark combines two diamond forms with a DNA double helix. The diamonds represent strength, resilience, rarity, and something precious, while the helix connects those ideas directly to the genetics at the heart of the organization.

The identity includes a standalone mark and several lockups for different applications.

Wayward Footwear

Trying to go outside my typical aesthetic with this one. It's for a personal project for a barefoot shoe brand called Wayward. I did create the product shot with AI and mocked up the logo in Photoshop. I usually go for symmetrical, thicker, marks. But they always (no surprise) look too static. With this I wanted to branch out a little and try something more organic but still have some structure with the consistent line weight.

Point identification help

Edit: I was able to contact few other landscape supply businesses in the area and pretty much all of them get their rocks from the Colorado River, specifically around the city of Columbus, TX

Hey everyone! Thank you for those who commented on my last post. I wanted to take some better pictures with measurements to try to determine the region and age of this piece.

Here’s the backstory: I purchased some landscaping material (smooth river rock) from a yard in Huntsville, Texas and found this in it. I’m not sure if I damaged it in shoveling the material or if it was already damaged.

I imagine landscape supply get it from a from the Trinity River or the Brazos river. I have no way of knowing for sure. The landscaping supply company isn’t in business anymore. After hanging onto this piece for a while, I started to get interested in it after watching some Flintknapping videos on YouTube.

I’m wondering if anyone can help identify the region/age/any other info on this awesome find.

Specs:

Length: about 12cm
Width: about 4.5cm
Material: Chert?

Should I continue growing it out or trim?

I know ultimately it’s a personal decision but I’d love some feedback. I’ve never grown it out much more than this. I’d like to grow it out much longer. I work for myself so no dress code to follow. I’d appreciate the feedback.

Geometric Canine

Sometimes, after looking at a design long enough, your brain starts filling in the gaps. Because you know the intent behind it, everything begins to make sense, even if that interpretation isn’t obvious to someone seeing it for the first time.

I designed this dog mark using only simple geometric shapes. I know what I intended it to communicate, but I’m curious whether that comes across immediately.

What do you see when you look at it? I’d love some honest first impressions.

Also, should I add an eye or leave it off? To be consistent I’d have to have a square or triangle and neither of those seemed to work.

Score!!!

My in-laws were going through some old boxes and were about to throw these out! I haven’t used them. I’m not really sure of the year these were manufactured but they’re old!
