Geely deal with Alpine falls through

Source is an Italian sportscar racing site.

> The indiscretion, captured by an internal source within the French team, reports that after an initial approach and subsequent discussions, the Chinese manufacturer then literally disappeared, effectively leading to a forced definitive halt to Alpine's future activities.

Long Beach - T1/Pit Exit Entry Line

I've gotten cleaned out several times exiting the pits here at Long Beach because apparently the racing line entering Turn 1 is to cut into pit lane? I dont think this is realistic as the all the races I've seen here, whether it's IMSA or IndyCar or Porsche Cup, has the racing line strictly on the otherside of the red line and any tire over it would be exiting track limits.

But we're just routinely cutting into pit exit and it just feels like a completely unrealistic russian roulette going into this weekend's special event. Is this intentional or is this an oversight? Because the track limits should mandate drivers keep out of pit exit.

So yeah this shouldn't be correct. It makes the upcoming special event even more dangerous than this venue already naturally provides. I hope this is fixed before the special event this weekend.

Long Beach online shows a need for some kind of FCY system

The argument against FCY online has always been that the track ran in WEC are wide enough that accidents are likely to clear away from the racing surface. Places with large amounts of run offs like Qatar, Bahrain, Paul Ricard, the accidents move off track pretty easily.

Now that we have some IMSA tracks, American tracks are narrow and the walls are a lot closer. This is furthered the case with the upcoming Long Beach, a truly tight street circuit.

So what happens online when someone looses it basically anywhere on track? Turn 1? The fountain? The hairpin? It's going to cause a pile up and the track will be blocked.

Do cars in front just get a free lap while cars unlucky behind a wreck just need to wait until people tow? LMU players are also less willing to tow than in iRacing because there is no towing feature in LMU. Leaving the track is a straight DNF, so people will be trying to limp back damaged cars to the pits to stay in the race.

I think Long Beach especially makes a case that some kind of FCY online, at least for longer races (like 1 hour or more) is needed. If someone qualifies in front of a wreck, and there's a track blockage behind them, they just get a free lap on safe drivers who stop for the wreck and wait until it clears for them to resume.

That's genuinely unfair. Over on AMS2 on Low Fuel Motorsports, they enabled FCY on all tracks in their online races that's longer than 45 minutes. I ran a few where FCYs came out and honestly it was fine. The most I ever saw was 3 because the system is tuned enough that it doesn't come out for small wrecks, only big ones and especially for track blockers. FCY can be done well in online road races. I think it's time we get them with all these tight IMSA tracks that can collect a lot of cars.

The damage model is inconsistent

I just finished the 8 hours of Daytona and I've been pretty confused about LMU's damage system. Firstly, want to describe some positives. I do think that LMU's damage system at low to medium speeds is pretty good. It seems appropriately sensitive to me. I can rub with people but if I try to use someone as a brake, or even when I lose it into someone, there's a very real chance I'll have significant race altering damage. It's also quite easy to bend your alignment.

These are low speed accident and I think the way LMU handles low speed accidents to be quite good. The addition of contact punctures have also been a great feature. I enjoy the way damage can really punish bad driving.

However, I think where things start falling apart with the system is high speed accidents. Daytona was a great showcase of this. During the event I had an accident in the tri-oval of Daytona, I'm approaching 200 mph in the hypercars. I had an accident where I speared into the outside wall. It seems there's some kind of weird cap with LMU's damage or something but I went headfirst into the outside wall and walked away with only 30 seconds of repairs in the pits.

I was shocked. I didn't hit the engine bay of the chassis, the suspensions were heavily damaged but not broken off, so it's not typical things that would DNF me in LMU but it still was a pretty strong head first hook into the outside wall and it seemed like nothing changed at all in the chassis?

This should completely obliterate any car. I don't know if you've seen any NASCAR accidents or even Daytona 24 accidents on the oval, it always a race ender. But I went head first into the wall, and didn't even lose my podium position in it. That feels very wrong. It seems that high speed accidents doesn't have as severe of an impact as it should be and accidents on the oval at Daytona is a great showcase of this. The repair system also seems completely OP, I've never ever gotten repairs over 1 minute to my car even on accidents that I think should be DNFs.

Why is the Vanwall in rotation for some dailies and not others?

This is the WEC-Xperience selection:

https://preview.redd.it/zobcvjrhaxih1.png?width=2559&format=png&auto=webp&s=263d83223dee362256ef86bcdd98a17e2ea4c17d

And this is the One-Stint Sprint selection that has the Vanwall:

https://preview.redd.it/5y8ndps9dxih1.png?width=2559&format=png&auto=webp&s=468fa50bf455f5f7278ecae6ee992ed109a65dcf

Is this a mistake? I might try the Vanwall in WEC ranked just for fun in the future and would like to know if it's worth driving it if it's not going to stay in rotation.

The crashing with the car is meant to be fixed in the most recent patch:

So it feels like a mistake that it's not selectable in either WEC-Xperience or in Hosted under the Hypercar class.

Ranked results not posting?

Has anyone noticed that their event results aren't being posted? One of my special events results from Laguna isn't showing up as a result in game and when I check on LMU Portal it's constantly "processing results": https://lmuportal.com/results?week=2026-07-28&series=0756de42-a2b1-5377-8a87-b0b2129ad058

I hope the game doesn't lose our results? The one that's missing for me is the one where I won in the Isotta lol.

u/TheLizardfolk — 2 months ago

In honor of the subreddit banner... I ran the Isotta for this weekend's event and won

This is my first ever special events win in anything. The race ended up being very close, just 13 second from P2 and had to save fuel but hung on to the end. Very difficult car to keep pointed in the right direction but was satisfying to get right at Laguna Seca.

FCY and Safety Car?

Are FCY and Safety Car coming to AC Evo? It's been a topic of conversation for longer endurance races in iRacing and LMU, but I'd like to see it for online lobbies.

Contingency number plates on liveries

Does anybody else feel that the contingency stickers for the respective series, WEC, ELMS, and the Le Mans 24hr, should be sim stamped rather than just the number? I often see online special events and series that's meant to generally mimic a real event have such wild variation on what is done to the number plates and many paints dont have number plates at all! It breaks my immersion to look at it when there's too much of it on the grid.

https://preview.redd.it/0vu1mhbk0geh1.png?width=554&format=png&auto=webp&s=685a76292a96af04c0c459671bda89dce238e4ba

I think it would be better if the game itself stamps the whole plate, along with series mandated contingency sponsors like the DHL for WEC on the car. That way, no matter what kind of paint someone creates, there's a uniformity to the grid that's realistic.

Maybe something like only stamping the number and the plates can be left up to the user in hosted so leagues or custom races can have that freedom. But it seems like the official WEC/ELMS game should mandate how the plates should look in online ranked and official competition.

Special event frustration: lapped cars ruin the experience

This is a new one for me for LMU. I encounter lapped cars in daily or weekly ranked but it's not too common of a nuisance and I actually do see a lot of people in short ranked races pull over to let the lead lap cars fight for position. Very rarely some guy wants to stay on the lead lap or is too bored and starts racing lead lap cars. But it hasn't been much of a problem for me in my 300 hours that I've played LMU so far.

I just did the 6 hours of Interlagos, and while I'm no perfect driver myself, I've had my race ruined by lapped cars consistently fighting and getting in the way. This is in a long endurance race where your your stint and tire management can make or break your race.

Lapped cars seem, almost spitefully, unaware when a lead lap car is trying to gain ground on a car for position ahead.

It seems the leader gets special treatment, everyone sees a P1 on their relative and go "ok, don't want to be the guy taking out the leader" but seems people down the pack, even on podium positions, aren't given even remotely the same consideration.

I was P2 for a lot of the event, there were stints where I had better managed my tires and was trying to close down P1, only for a lapped car to actually race me. Consistently. Sometimes these cars are multiple laps down and aren't in any imminent fight for position themselves. Sometimes there's a pack of lapped cars that aren't even on the same lap as each other racing each other in front of me and creating a multi-car wide road block when I'm trying to hunt down the leader!

The matter was made worse by lapped cars in the rain. In the final stints, I've passed cars only for them to re-dive on me at the apex despite me trying to close up on the lead position. It got so bad that one even just flat out took me out into T1 trying to follow my braking when I was trying to close on the cars ahead.

A safe P2 went to a finish outside of the podium and it's almost entirely down to lapped cars racing me or spinning me when they miss their braking and run into me into T1 or one of the hairpins.

Are these people just that bored or upset that their race is pointless so they have to find ways to entertain themselves by racing the lead lap cars? Why are people blocking, cutting off, doorbanging, or divebombing cars on the lead lap?

This isn't remotely a realistic racing experience, blue flags being ignored this badly in real life would get you instantly parked. What exactly is happening in these events where lapped cars just forget they aren't racing every single car they encounter on track?

This weekend was endlessly frustrating and it makes me want to swear off special events in LMU. I feel like something should be done, maybe enough blue flag warnings ignored get you point penalties or something but the way people recklessly disregard it is intensely off putting.

Looking for friends to drive off-meta cars

Does anyone here like driving off-meta cars? This is more of a thing for the hypercar class as I don't think there's anything seriously problematic for any of the GT3 class. But I really like how the Isotta hypercar runs. I know Jimmy has ran the Glickenhaus a lot before but it seems that gets run less and less.

I'm unsure if 397 ever eventually intends to sunset older cars for online competition (and I would be a very sad boy if that happens) but until that happens I'd like to run these cars competitively online, maybe even squeeze a good result out of them?

The 6 hours of Interlagos is coming up and I'm left without a teammate from my usual places because I want to do the Isotta and no one wants to drive with me. I drove the Isotta last year at the 8 Hours of Bahrain and finished P2 so I dont think it's an automatic throw car like the Vanwall.

Anyways, it might be a bit late to find a teammate for Interlagos now, but if there's anyone in the community that feels this way, I've created my own team dedicated to running more off-meta cars. So if you're like me, and you'd like teammates that'll say yes to alternative cars, I think we can have fun in this space. I'm calling it The Lemon Club: https://discord.gg/zdEhAP2hZc

ACR's damage seems better than ACE's damage

This is a wrecked car from ACR:

https://preview.redd.it/tep0nbvecmdh1.png?width=1662&format=png&auto=webp&s=da600adf9474d800a33dee6a4b900e1b28b50b2d

Which is pretty good, I've seen better and more dynamic damage system in other sims but this is a reasonable early access damage imo. Lotsa parts flying off, cars getting crumpled based on the state of the damage, at least there's a nice visual elements to a crash.

But this is ACE's damage so far:

https://preview.redd.it/7t1r75awemdh1.png?width=1646&format=png&auto=webp&s=094ec192b123dbc52cbe5250e218ab3337ab377a

And I'm finding the visual damage to the car in AC Evo to be very disappointing. Are there any plans to improve damage? There was barely any form of visual damage in the original AC and ACC and I was hoping that AC Evo would improve this.

Part of what I like about damage in sims is that I can try to suss out my opponent's car conditions based on visuals in online races and I can't really do that if the car is visually pristine despite having heavy damage. Plus flying parts from damage is a part of racing as well and afaik this doesn't happy at all in AC Evo.

I don't know, having no visual damage just breaks immersion for me when I'm racing in racing sims. The ACR damage is in the right direction and I'm surprised we're not getting better damage in ACE.

Using inactive drivers to lower line up rating?

So the current system as it works is based on a formula:

Line up DR when entering a race = 25% current Team Member DR + 75% Existing Lineup DR

While the line up influence is a minority, it seems that with a total of 6 drivers possible for a line up, if I wanted to run the event solo (or even just a pair) but smurf an easier split, I can fill out the rest of the line up slots with very low ranked drivers to tank my matchmaking?

This seems wrong to me. Would a minimum drive time for any assigned driver in a line up solve this? Because at least in that situation, if you decide to pair with - say Bronze 1 drivers - they have to keep the car on the track during their minimum drive time and at least that's something you're competing against.

But as it is right now, using inactive drivers to put your thumb on the matchmaking scale to smurf easier splits seem wrong to me. You're boxing against drivers that influence matchmaking without actually ever being on track?

Updated Monza comin to LMU?

If you all have heard the news, Barcelona and Monza will be the final races for this season's WEC:

https://racer.com/2026/07/13/barcelona-and-monza-lined-up-for-end-of-wec-season

Monza has been reprofiled in a few places since WEC went there in 2023 and when LMU got there. Does this mean we'll be getting a 2026 Monza as well? Assetto Corsa Evo has the current updated Monza. As evident below:

https://preview.redd.it/k6x7p9us37dh1.png?width=1187&format=png&auto=webp&s=36dc8eac4e26c849b624c1195bbf965c51e5b49c

I would love LMU to have the current Monza as well and have it be another sim that has the newest Monza.

Thrustmaster eSwap Controller Forza wheel module loose?

Had the Forza wheel module for a while. Dusted it off recently for Forza Horizon 6 and I've noticed the module is very loose and the axis detection for the mini wheel is really wonky.

It's effected my driving pretty badly. Anyone else have this issue? Is there a fix for this or is this module just busted?

I'm pretty disappointed, I haven't had this module for that long.

Katherine Legge's #78 e.l.f. 2026 Watkins Glen Cup car

Anyone catch Katherine Legge's #78 this past NASCAR weekend at the Glen? I actually thought the paint was really good and was inspired to recreate it as accurately as I could. There were a lot of detail in how the design was smudged to mimic makeup and I wanted to get that right for the car.

It's not every day you see a sponsor like e.l.f. do motorsports. I even like that they created their own racing slogan with Eyes. Lips. Fuel.

Free for anyone to use: https://www.tradingpaints.com/showroom/view/1140150/2026-Live-Fast-Motorsports--Katherine-Legge--Watkins-Glen

Anyone else a fan of the paint?

I hope it'll come back in future races and she can get better runs with it.

When are we going to get the start music for each WEC race?

WEC starts with this Strauss fanfare for every round. As a WEC experience game, I'm missing it from the race starts. Maybe it'll be too much to have it play on every start ever but the WEC style special events or the WEC Xperience officials maybe can play this? Would be cool and bring me closer to the real series.
