What the heck does this thing want from me?

I've got this little echeveria that just refused to be happy. I have it baking under a grow light for a minimum of 8hrs a day. I water sparingly. Yet it refuses to do anything but be leggy and sad. The heck does this thing want from me?

Video and gif playback issues

I'm not sure if this is a codec issue, or something that's misconfigured. I've been having an issue since switching where gifs will only play once, then get stuck, videos have a delay when playing sometimes (press play and there is a delay, not a buffering thing), and they always have issues with rewind. For example, if I go back to a previous point in the video, it'll only display a still frame while playing the audio. However, if I then go forward it'll play normally. Anyone have ideas on what the issue might be?

Operating System: Nobara Linux 43

KDE Plasma Version: 6.6.4

KDE Frameworks Version: 6.25.0

Qt Version: 6.10.3

Kernel Version: 7.0.11-200.nobara.fc43.x86_64 (64-bit)

Graphics Platform: Wayland

Unity3D steals focus on save

I'm having an issue where saving changes to a script causes Unity to immediately steal focus to recompile everything. I don't have a problem with their auto-refresh behavior, just the fact it's immediately jumping to Unity. I didn't have this issue with VSCode, just Rider. I found this issue on it, but it didn't really provide any additional insight beyond "They said it was fixed and it's not". Anyone else run into this? Any solutions?

Help saving my pink polkadot

New baby in the house ate all my attention, so my polkadot dried out really badly. Tried watering, it didn't seem to be using the water in the soil very quickly, so I pulled it out and put it in water to avoid rot.

It's been stable like this for about a week. There are a couple buds on the stem, and what looks like one at the top between the small leaves, but there doesn't seem to have been any growth.

I really don't want to lose this guy, he means a lot to me.

It gets some sun, but not a lot, so I have it under a grow light that's on for 10hrs a day.

Step-by-step guide to getting your system set up for distro hopping

I'm trying to find a guide that outlines the needed steps to set your system up to distro hop. I know that putting /home on its own partition is part of it, but I'm not entirely sure how to go about doing that and telling the system to use it. I'm also unsure of any other steps required. Does anyone know of a guide or article that walks through this?

Tips to get walking, especially in the sun and heat

I am a very pasty (seriously) northerner that now lives in the American South. The heat and sun make being outside objectively miserable. I can literally feel my skin burning within minutes. I do not like being outside, especially down here.

So I ask, what are some tips and suggestions for how to deal with this? How do I make it less horrible?

Things I've tried:

Bucket hat with vents

Always bring a water bottle

UV shirts to help with the sun (Just got some new ones with long sleeves)

Audiobooks that I'm only allowed to listen to while walking

Streak tracking (tends to fall apart when it's been 97-100F outside for a couple days)

Gating favorite snacks behind going for a walk

Walking in the morning (I'm not a morning person, and it gets hot pretty early)

Walking in the evening (Mosquitos eat me alive. It's like I have a neon sign over my head screaming all you can eat buffet)

Linux to windows RDP multi-monitor support

Hi folks, I switched to linux a couple of months ago, and I'm getting by well for the most part.
One of my big pain points though is work. Window's RDP program has functionality that allows your local machine with multiple monitors to "add" a second screen when connecting to a remote with a single screen. So rather than just stretching one screen across multiple monitors, it behaves as if it were connected to multiples screens.

I've tried both KRDC and Remmina, and neither replicates this behavior. Does anyone know of a way to do this?

How beginner friendly is Warplan/Pacific?

Mostly played hearts of iron 4, 4x games like civ, total war, the usual suspects. Been wanting to into more proper wargames. I tried toaw IV and bounced off it. I've played some combat mission, and while I enjoyed it, the extremely unreliable line of sight and awkward controls make it frustrating. So I've been thinking trying some other options.

After 26 days we're out of NICU, and I'm scared of going to sleep

I'm a bit scared to go to sleep and risk him rolling over and smothering himself. He keeps breaking out of his swaddle and rolling onto his side. I've no idea how the nurses kept him on his back. He was doing it in the sleep sack we tried as well.

Bought tickets back in February, but we can't go. Shows starts at 7, but tickets need to be collected by 6:30 at the venue (Goodnights Comedy Club, 401 Woodburn Rd, Raleigh, NC 27605). Not sure if they'll take just the numbers, but I can DM them to whomever. First come, first served.

First time trying wet stick propagation. Hope it goes well!

My marble queen was getting a bit leggy, so I decided to chop and prop. Ended up with a decently long segment without foliage, so I'm hoping I can get it to prop.

▲ 6 r/hats

I've got a flat cap I've had for a few years, and I really like it. However, I live in a pretty warm area, and it's staring to smell a bit sweaty. I've seen a bunch of different advice on cleaning, ranging from "just dunk it in water and detergent" to "spot clean with vinegar paste and a horsehair brush". What are some actual ways to clean a hat with a bit of staining on the sweatband, odor, and an unknown brim material, using only common household items?

E.G. Could I clean it with a mild dish soap like dawn and a toothbrush? Or a laundry detergent?
