Has there been any attempts at charges for 8/1 firearms?

Im sure I would've seen it, but it feels like there hasn't been any. Maybe the DAs dont even want to try it because they know our laws are fucking garbage.

Single DPTs, how TF are you living?

For context I live in MCOL of Massachusetts, and make 93k with 140k in loans. If I wasnt married, I dont think I would be even in the ballpark for buying my own house. So what are you single DPTs doing? Living at home, renting with roommates?

Side note it really messes with my mind to think a lot of us live in the USA, a global superpower and one of the most developed countries, yet we cant afford homes as medical professionals with doctorates. It feels increasingly dystopian.

How do you address patient family members that are a huge hindrance to the appointments - OP ortho

Context - i have an elderly patient who is obviously suffering some level of dementia so her grown adult daughter comes to appointments. The problem is she treats mom like a 3 year old. Repeating everything I say in a slow motone and does these childish demos of what I just said. Finally today someone else brings her but does not come back for the appointment and we were able to literally quintuple the amount of good effective work we did and the patient actually spoke and engaged in conversation with me. I know the daughter feels responsible for mom and his doing her best so I dont wont to make it seem like "hey you are messing up mom's appointments so get lost"

Don't forget your LTC if you Form 1. Denied after 93 days.

The form 1 does not state that it requires a copy of it, but as a MA resident you will be denied for not including it. Im pretty salty right now.

A ridiculous workers comp denial

Sometimes I cant stand the stupidity that comes with dealing with workers comp or any insurance for that matter. Just had a denial of visits for a patients because the order was for his neck and I also assessed his upper extremities. #1 wtf that SHOULD be part of any neck assessment and #2 the order was for CERVICAL RADICULOPATHY. I swear they have monkey brains or even worse. Thats my rant. Fuck these greedy insurance dirtbags.

Why are orthopedic surgeons losing their minds when same-day total joints need to stay overnight?

Acute care. These are not orthopedic surgeons employed by the hospital. These are private practice who use the hospital’s surgery center. They order PT. These patients have comorbidities. Hypertension. Diabetes. Dialysis. Obesity. Severe deconditioning. Yellow flags.

Then in the postop. They are vomiting or orthostatic or just weak and incapable of handling the overwhelming pain and shock of the postop situation or yellow flags prevent meaningful participation. You name it. Either way these people are not up and walking

if they have a step or two to get into the house, they are not capable of safely attempting those steps

or their blood pressure is in the toilet bowl

you name it.

They are not appropriate to go home.

Cue the orthopedic surgeon losing their mind.

So will somebody with some business sense please explain to me why? Because it’s gotta be money. And I just want to understand.

I really don’t care about getting chewed out anymore. I don’t care about being the bad guy. I don’t care that they threatened to pull their outpatient business from the hospital surgery center.

There’s nothing I could do about it.

But I’m not gonna clear somebody for discharge whose blood pressure is 92/35 vomiting and unable to walk without mod to max assist. It’s not gonna happen.

I just want somebody to help me make it make sense.

Post op TKA

I just received a new patient. He is 3 months post op coming from a different clinic. His last assessment notes state 122 deg flexion, I have 90 with a firm end feel. No mention of his crazy strategies to complete STS or stairs. They also had him 3x/week for 12 weeks. IMO a gross overuse of visits.

*Just for context I am a 30 yr old physical therapist*. So with the death of the 30 minute workout, we are getting some really great strength equipment which I love. The downside was something I just experienced. An older woman in the old 30 minute area asked me how to use a higher level piece of abdominal equipment. She seemed very demoralized that the old equipment was gone and looked extremely lost. I really hope our older generation doesnt look faith in their fitness journey that the extremely easy structure of the 30 minute room is gone.
