I did it! PNW, $425K, 5.875%

So far this year we found out we're pregnant (10 more weeks), took a 2 week trip thru Japan, got engaged (after 9yr), got raises, and bought this house. Not even halfway thru 2026.

Phew.

Been waiting for my turn on this for years. Couldn't come at a better time.

Best orientation for patio roof/cover/awning?

I'm buying a home with an uncovered cement patio. I want to cover the patio with a new awning using some semi-translucent corrugated polycarb and a wooden frame. I'm not sure if it'd be best to have it descending northward off the garage roof or eastward off the tall wall. Trying to consider the runoff proximity to the house and walkways, as well as directional sunlight at different times of day.

I also may consider at some point taking the cement out and making a low profile composite deck in its place. Not sure if it matters if I do that first or if it could be done later, depending on how I set up the awning's legs.

Just thought I'd post here to see if anyone has any suggestions or insight. It's my first home, so I'm new here :)

(I'll make a comment with the link too in case that doesn't work)
