Need a new creek boat

I just discovered a pretty large crack in my medium Code. It has been a solid boat, but looking at other options as well. I’m 5’10”, around 180 pounds. I mostly paddle half slices, so when I do actually get on class V, I have to dust off the creek boat, so I would prefer a boat that has a hull like a half slice (planning over displacement). I also like higher performance, faster boats.

I demoed a ReactR a few weeks ago, but didn’t like how the bow kind of windshield wiped back and forth on a line. I paddled the OG for a bit, and it felt solid, but didn’t get enough time in it.

So I think my options may be an OG, Scorch, a new Code, or maybe the Stoke/Manu? The Manu seems huge though. 100 gallons!

Bike Cover When Over Tailgate in Truck?

Anyone know of a bike cover for traveling that covers your bike when it is the bed of a truck over the tailgate (with a pad of course). I know of the ones that work when the bike is in a hitch rack, but not when hanging over a tailgate.

Optimal Setting for Baratza ESP Pro

We just got a Baratza ESP Pro and I was wondering what others may be using as a grind setting for their Mochamaster? Also if using the time setting, how long are you grinding for 10 cups?

Anyone else think the coffee is terrible?

I wouldn’t really consider myself a coffee snob, but the Delta coffee is just terrible to me. It is super bitter. I often get it from the smell, and then regret it a few sips later. Is it just me or do others feel the same way?

Spotify Killing My Battery

I need some help here. Spotify is killing my battery, almost daily. At some point it is pulling so much power my phone gets pretty hot.

I have background turned off and everything, but it seems like it is still running in the background. I did listen to music/podcast for 1.5 hours today. Does it always drain this much power just playing music? iPhone 16.

How well do the APP3 work with a windows PC, and specifically MS Teams? Do they have a clear mic and can block our background noise?

Best Earbuds for iPhone and Widows PC User

I currently have a set Jabra Elite Active 8's that I like, but the earbud batteries are already pretty deteriorated after only 1.5 years with about 1-2 hours of use a day. They die in about 3 hours now, making longer uses kind of hard. So I am starting to think about my next pair of earbuds.

For reference, my use case is ~90% of the time, the earbuds will be used with an iPhone for either working out, around the house, air travel, etc. If I just had this use case, I think I would go with the Air Pod Pro 3s. However, ~10% of the time I have to use my earbuds for work, which is a Windows PC, mostly in Teams meetings. This is where my hesitation for Apple comes from.

I have a pair of Sony XM6 over ear headphones that I mostly use for work, and have been very happy with them. However, the Sony in-ear buds seem a little bulky to me for working out, and the touch controls do not have great reviews.

So my questions are:

  1. Do Air Pod Pros 3 work okay with a Windows PC? Specifically for Teams meetings.

  2. If not, what other options are out there? I want good ANC for air travel, so are the Sony's the best? Any other suggestions? Budget isn't too much of a concern.

We have a summer trip coming up and will be visiting Yellowstone and Badlands National Park on our way. We will have our mountain bikes, but considering also bringing road/gravel bikes to bike around the parks. It appears Yellowstone has some short designated bike paths, but curious about Badlands and if anyone has experience riding in these parks?

iPhone batteries only last a few years due to so many charging cycles, forcing people to buy new phones every few years. Garmin is clearly trying to compete with Apple. So why not throw out a conspiracy theory that Garmin is doing the same thing by removing MIPS offering in the Fenix line?

MIPS users can hold onto their watches 5+ years because the batteries still work great, charging once every 2-3 weeks (OG F6 user here). AMOLED means charging every 7-10 days — that's 3-4x more cycles per year. More cycles = faster degradation = time to buy a new watch right when Garmin drops the new Fenix. Right?

(This is a joke. Maybe.)
