I came to Ahmedabad in November last year and have visited the same chai tapri every morning since December. Every morning. The same routine.
Tea. Breakfast. Paper. Home.
Since the paper guy takes only cash, a 5 rupee coin, it quickly became inconvenient for me to carry change and buy from him. To counter that, I asked the chai tapri owner, one half of a twin sibling, to loan me 5 rupees one morning. I would then add it to the price of my 3 cup parcel and we will be all balanced up. He graciously agreed. Same thing next day and same the day after. It has now been 6 months.
Every morning, this man, sees me approach. Takes out a 5 rupee coin and hands it over with a smile.
How considerate. How human.
