Potential job offer in San Sebastián / Irun area.

Hi / Buenas !

I may have a job offer in the San Sebastián area, although I’m still waiting for the company to confirm the exact location. From what I understand, it could be somewhere between Irun and San Sebastián.

The salary would be around €35k gross/year.
I’m French and currently living in Spain, so I’m wondering whether this could be a realistic move financially and socially.

A few questions for people who know the area:
Is it a decent salary for living around San Sebastián, especially if I want to live alone?

Since Donostia is apparently one of the most expensive cities in Spain, would it make more sense to live in Hendaye, France, given that I’m French? Is commuting across the border practical?

If Hendaye is not a good option, would Irun be a better/cheaper place to live?

How easy is it to make friends around there as a foreigner? I’m quite outgoing and would like to build a social life rather than just work and go home.

And finally, how is the gay scene around San Sebastián / Irun / Hendaye? Is there a decent LGBT+ social and dating scene,
or is it relatively small?
I’m 40, single and mainly looking for a good balance between career, affordability and social life.

Any honest opinions from locals or people who have moved to the area would be really appreciated.

Gay guy in Vigo

Hola / Hi

40 yo, and currently in Vigo while I look for work. Hopefully something comes up here 🤞 I’m originally from abroad, but I speak Spanish well. I’m into punk rock, electronic music and alternative music. I’m looking to meet people for a coffee, a walk, exploring the city and just hanging out together

French/Luxembourg 🇫🇷🇱🇺 + Ashkenazi Jewish 🇺🇦 result.

I don’t know about the Belarus 🇧🇾 result, my family is from Ukraine on my dad side, I’ve also investigated and saw some possible origins from Latvia 🇱🇻, mom side is coherent, french (east) and Luxembourg (noble lineages), and I have an additional Jewish grand parent on my maternal side, no idea about the Iranian traces… but my paternal halpogroup is Q-2197

The Wafae story is a perfect example of why immigration narratives need to be fact-checked.

Nothing sells newspapers better than a dramatic victim story, and the Spanish newspaper El País thought they found the perfect one with Wafae Atid.

The story was ready-made: a brave 28-year-old Moroccan woman swims to Ceuta, escaping a horrible, strict life where she was supposedly not allowed to study, travel, or choose her own clothes. Cue the sad music and Western guilt.
There was just one small, hilarious problem: nobody checked her social media.

A five-minute look at her Instagram showed that this "trapped victim" had actually studied in Dubai, worked in high-end hotels, traveled to several countries, and hung out in Qatar. That is a very comfortable kind of "trapped."

My results… pretty accurate

I don’t get how they differentiate Ukrainian from Belarusian Jews.

Rencontres café

Hello !

¡Gracias!
