Watching this week’s Ugliest House in America made me wonder: Do I objectively think this house is ugly, or am I just reacting to the plethora of bright, gaudy 1970s colors in each room? In an era of constant grey, white and neutral-colored homes, do bright colors really make rooms feel tacky or are we conditioned by HGTV to think that neutrals are “classier?” Does anyone here still have brightly colored rooms?
And next year is her 60th Anniversary, so I hope Mattel is already planning her Silkstone. Anyone agree? (Photo is my non-Silkstone Francie reproduction.)

I can’t believe the owner has lived there for 6 years without changing anything! It was immaculately kept, but every room was worse than the last and even Retta was stunned into silence at first! (Then she couldn’t stop laughing, lol.) What a house! 😄
The Barbie area at my Target was basically unchanged for years, lol. I was in there today and not only was it in a new space, but it was now an entire aisle, instead of sharing with Monster High! They rarely had new dolls, but now new stuff is popping up all over the place (even the new Holiday dolls and fashion packs). I’m not complaining, but I thought Barbie sales were going through a rough patch…?
Answer: Retta is the best host on TV, period! She is effortlessly funny, charming and personable, and has the most expressive face I’ve ever seen. She makes me LOL every episode, and I’m so happy that the show is now an hour long. More Ugly! 😄
Honestly I still love its sound, even though later Echos (which I also own) have more bass. Gen 1 just has a clearer, more balanced tone IMO…🤷🏾♂️
For me it’s the Viola Davis Barbie Mattel made for her in 2024. I love the actress and think this doll captures her perfectly (in a fabulous look, to boot). 😍

Draculaura, MH’s most popular character, is also a witch. Why wouldn’t Mattel have YouTube animated videos, teasers, comics, etc., with a storyline of her meeting the MoonSpell witches and visiting MoonSpell High? This seems like the most obvious marketing collab to me. What am I missing?
