I don't really like Ralph Lauren but Brooks Brothers isn't leaving me much choice

My real issue with Brooks Brothers are their polo shirts. Collars are shit. The good thing about the spandex is that the shirts aren't wrinkled and don't shrink but PRL polo shirts, when done right, don't wrinkle and shrink either. Some of what's sold at Marshalls and Burlington is a different conversation but still.

Brooks Brothers, from what I can tell, is only at a handful of retailers anyway. Nordstrom, DXL and the factory outlet stores. Probably more than that if you're in New York City. I actually like the fact my local Macy's doesn't carry them. Especially considering the quality of brands at that story that are almost always better when found elsewhere.

But again, yes I can get a BB original polo shirt for a fraction of the price on sale but that's about what it's worth. I don't mind paying $100 for a RL polo shirt when I can get the quality. Even though I like BB designs better, I am resigned to dealing with the post modern schtick that RL has become.

Edit

These are all great suggestions. I really do want that 1950s through 1980s and the only way to do that is lose 100 pounds and buy vintage. Brooks does have some interesting finds on their vintage section; not a lot of it is out there anymore I'd probably have to go to NYC or some other large city to find it without dealing with the Internet. RRL is good for cosplay but I think I'd prefer regular attire, not 1970s Westworld costume designer or anything like that.

What are the actual advantages to using Google Play for subscriptions when you can't take advantage of promotions?

In my experience, some apps like HBO Max allow users to have simultaneous subscriptions directly with Warner as well as through Google Play and this causes a lot of confusion. Even with the same email address. So I have a subscription that ends on June 24 and another one with a promotion that renews on July 11, which is a lower price that Warner gave me to keep me as a consumer since I tried to cancel. I'm actually paying twice, which I've done before with HBO Max.

Another app like this is Peacock. I've never been able to obtain Peacock through Google Play. I can obtain it through partnerships they have with Apple and Amazon.

So my actual question is that if these services undermine Google Play and the App Store by offering better deals why are we using them to obtain subscriptions to services in the first place? Billing issues are easier to deal with but aside from that it seems like we pay a premium to use Google Play.

Are their pants worth the money?

I typically buy my Brooks Brothers polo shirts on clearance, usually for around $60 but often as low as $40. However, I’m struggling to find trousers at a similar price point. While I can easily find Ralph Lauren pants for under $100—especially at outlet stores—Brooks Brothers trousers seem to hover around $200 for my size (44). I once managed to score a pair of corduroys for $30, but that seems to be a rarity. Does anyone have advice or reliable strategies for finding Brooks Brothers pants at a more accessible price point? I still think that the $30 pair of pants were meant to get me hooked onto the website which obviously worked because I am still here years later.

I also found out that some of the factory stores carry the large sizes and some do not. Brooks seems to be one of those brands that only sells big and tall through DXL or their own website, not so much in person.

Seems like their tops are always cheap, including their sweaters, and their dress shirts, but bottoms are rather expensive unless you're a small person as larger sizes run out quickly.
